We are Ella and Alberto of Bear on Bike we offer a variety of locally grown and gathered food experiences, from underground dining to personalised tours and workshops. We provide simple, beautiful food with a focus on sustainability and tailor each event with love and care. Seasonal, locally sourced ingredients are at the heart of our project, which is why we nurture relationships with makers and producers who share our passion for honest food.
The Bear came to us when we were looking for something to unite our various projects, which range from produce and nutrition services to eco tourism and private catering. The image of a slow movement gaining momentum stuck with us and continues to inspire our project. That's the official story, but the truth is we also just love our bikes and couldn't BEAR to live without them. Lol.
Sorry about that last bit.
A good chef nurtures relationships with suppliers, and knows where to buy great produce and how to choose the best ingredients. Our 4.5-hour market tour and cooking class begins with a guided walk ...
I’m not always sure what to expect when I go into a cooking class but I must say that Alberto‘s class far exceeded my expectations. The shopping trip was informative and fun, the kitchen was well stocked and easy to learn in, Alberto was amazing (full of knowledge, kind, funny and encouraging), the food was beautifully prepared (we did a lot of the work which I really appreciate), and delicious. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to have a wonderful experience in Barcelona.
From the second we met Alberto outside Boqueria Market, we knew we were in for a great day! He is so passionate about Catalan cuisine and was keen to explain the history of the market and his reasons for buying the ingredients he did. We learned a lot before we even got to the workshop! Alberto's partner, Ella, was not able to join us, so, instead, we met his friend, Andrea, who helped with the cleaning up. Both Alberto and Andrea were great company and we shared many travel stories during the hours we spent together. The class itself was very well-organised and great fun. My husband and I are both pretty experienced cooks, yet we both picked up loads of useful tips and produced some great-tasting food. Alberto is a good teacher. His menu was inspired. He was happy to cater for the fact that I have a severe seafood allergy, but didn't exclude it from the menu as I had explained that my husband loves it! All-in-all, we had a fabulous day with Alberto and would recommend his classes to anyone who is visiting Barcelona.
