Every enjoyable, amazing food!
Our class was shared with a lovely Australuan couple and this number of people was just right. Sho is phenomenal: patient, knowledgeable, passionate and fun. Never having made noodles (or pasta) before, I felt I learned so much from Sho about what to look for from ingredients and technique. And the ramen - quite honestly the tastiest ramen I've ever eaten. 100% this class exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.
Cooking vegan ramen with Sho was both tasty and educational! Sho is clearly very experienced with cooking - in both from the artistic and scientific aspects. He explained the reasoning behind all of the decisions that we made along the process. The ramen at the end was the best ramen that I've had in my life; and now I have the recipe! The class moves at a fast pace, so come prepared for that!
Absolutely enjoyed the workshop! Sho is very friendly, knowledgeable and skilled. The DimSums we've made were not only looking very cute but tasted amazingly! Japanese and handmade - very light and tasty. Try it yourself!
I had such a great class with Sho- he was so knowledgable and helped me make the most delicious ramen I’ve ever tasted. His English was fantastic and he was more than happy to oblige and take photos! Sho knows so much about the science behind food which was extremely interesting, and he was very easy to talk to and ask questions. I would highly recommend this class! Plus, you get a recipe at the end in case you don’t remember everything!
With hands on preparation, Sho helped us prepare Ramen noodles from start to finish. It involved a lot of stamping and squashing and rolling, and the end result was fantastic. As he's also a qualified chemical engineer as well as a chef, he could explain the reasoning as to why we use ingredients to make things taste great or make dough form properly. The end result was DELICIOUS. I would wholeheartedly recommend his humorous classes to anyone. I'm going to go home now and prepare this for my friends.
The Udon making class we took with Sho was amazing. Our friends who are chefs recommended it and could not have steered us more in the right direction. Sho was so knowledgeable about everything, even explaining to us the chemistry behind cooking (what activates certain in residents). We had the best day and made the most amazing udon. Thank you Sho!!!
Sho Aoyama is so polite and enthusiastic about cooking. Every step of his cooking is so precise and well-matched to the others. He explains the need of every ingredient and told us so many basic tips of cooking! If you go to Osaka, you have to do this cooking class! (:
I was a single student for the morning class. Sho-san guides each step of the way and was extremely patient in answering all my questions (even questions unrelated to udon). I have gained so much from him. His chemistry background was also most helpful to me.
Very educational on culture and food science. We loved learning and enjoyed eating our hand (and foot) made meal!
Instructors were friendly and easy to follow. Owner was willing to help us from the train station to get to his location. So helpful. Lesson was easy to follow and smelled and tasted delicious. Instructors were patient with us newbies and willing to repeat instructions over and over. We sat down to a great handmade meal with sake and a special dessert. Fantastic experience would recommend to anyone wanting to know how to make home made dim sum.
Sho is a master of ramen, as well as charming and most thorough. I highly recommend joining a class even if your not vegan, I’m not, and it was the best ramen I’ve had.had.had.
Even though it is on the expensive side, it is definetly worth it!
Great experience! I’d definitely come back again.
Sho’s cooking class is by far the best I’ve ever done. He is so knowledgeable about every aspect of the meal we were creating and We weren’t just learning how to cook ramen, we were learning about the chemistry of what was happening within our food, how to tell the difference between good quality and bad, and so much more. Their was two Vegetarians in our group and two meat eaters and everyone said it was the best meal they had had in Japan!! It was an amazing experience and I wish I could learn even more from Sho.
I’ve taken several cooking classes and eaten lots of different styles of Udon in Japan, WASHO’s cooking class far exceeded our expectations. Sho, our instructor was patient, supportive, knowledgeable (he has a chemical engineering background) and funny! He provided very nuanced cooking and ingredient shopping tips that help take our dish from good to excellent. It’s a true labor of love to hand make the noodles from scratch and you could taste all of that work in the final product. I highly recommend WASHO cooking and we’ll be taking other classes from Sho in the future!
Sho was extremely skilled and passionate. He was so patient with us and so informative. We went away with much more than learning how to make udon. He taught us about how to spot real ingredients and shared his secrets with us. Lessons that are far more valuable than just learning how to make a dish. He made our trip to Osaka extremely enjoyable!
The class was great and very informative, with plenty of knowledge to take away from every component of the process. As a home chef, I found that this class was a perfect contribution and the instruction did not fall short of his chemical engineering background.
I am not really a fan of Japanese food but my aunt took me to this cooking class and made me love it from start to finish! I dont even understand the terms but i was able to appreciate all the learnings the chef taught us. It was a fun learning experience. I got to wear traditional Japanese robes and it looked so cute. We made Udon from scratch and more. Sho created a perfect ambience for the workshop with a lively table setting for lunch. We all had a sumptuous lunch. I did not expect that i will be able to make a great tasting Japanese food! Thumbs up to Sho!
Sho is a fantastic teacher, passionate about healthy foods and cooking. He has changed the way I think about cooking and about buying food. The price I paid for the course is nothing compared to what I got. Strongly recommended, especially if you have an engineering mindset and you want to understand exactly what happens to food when you cook it, or the tricks that some food companies use to boost profits at the expense of quality.
It was wonderful meeting Sho & learning how to make Udon. The class was a fun, concise & effective one. Sho created a perfect ambience for the workshop with a lively table setting for lunch. What was made & cooked was delicious. However, no sake (which should have been included as was stated in the advert) was served with the lunch. Very inspired to continue making it at home.
Very knowledgeable teacher. We had fun stomping on the dough.
I would highly rate this to any vegans/vegetarians/people who want to know how to cook ramen. The chef is very friendly and explains all the concepts in a great amount of detail in English. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Best experience, wonderful class, very nice instructors who made me feel welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot. I highly recommend. Five stars!!
We loved sho and he was super easy to contact during the reservation process. He is very smart and understands everything there is to know about udon which made our class super informative and fun. We can’t wait to try it at home!
Sho was a charming host and our group of four had a fantastic time preparing delicious ramen with him.
This class was great! Sho was a kind teacher, very friendly, and funny. We had a great conversation about healthy eating, and walked me through every step of the cooking process. Best of all, the vegan ramen was delicious!
Sho and his wife are amazing. He teaches you step by step how to create this popular Japanese comfort food, while explaining how to make it healthy. Highly recommend if you are visiting Osaka. He speaks english very well and is able to explain everything in english. The setting is also very inviting as he built the kitchen to look like a home kitchen. Very fun experience!
I learnt how to cook a wonderful dish. The lesson was really enjoyable as well. Thank you WASHO! Mark S from Australia
My friend and I joined Sho's class during our stay in Osaka, and we enjoyed. Sho has studied at culinary school before and he is knowledgeable on Japanese food. The class is fun, and the Udon making process is actually easier than I thought, and I am sure everyone can handle it. We will definitely join his class again when we visit Osaka!
What an amazing experience ! We cooked in family, with 2 children (7 and 9). We learned how to make udon. Sho was so nice, and such a great teacher. We arrived 30 minutes too late, because we got lost with our car, but he waited for us so nicely. We were very welcome, and our meal was very good. We plan to cook it at home now ! Thank you so much Sho. All our family recommends !
Sho, thank you so much for a fantastic morning. Flora and I really enjoyed ourselves. Your kitchen set up was fantastic and immaculate! You were kind and informative and we learnt a lot from you! I am going to try making udon noodles at home and even that broth that might take a week! Thanks again! We hope this season is nice and busy for you ;-) Caroline (Aussie) Flora (the Brit)
Sha is a good chef, likes pure food& that was just wat we were looking for. We felt really welcome with the beautiful setting of the table, the warm hospitality of Sho & his wife & the nice dish he teached us to make.
Sho was very kind and knowledgeable. We made Udon noodles from scratch and it was so fun! I wish the class were a little bit more hands-on for the other recipes as well. The tempura, the seasonings, the dashi, etc was all pre-made, so if we hadn't asked in detail, we wouldn't know how to recreate them at home. That said, I would definitely recommend the class to any foodies visiting Osaka :)
