"Great class with awesome food :-)"
This cooking class was really good. At first, we just like the thought that they are organic and everything we make is organic. Furthermore, the host was really sweet and welcoming and wanted to tell us about everything we asked.
And a giant plus was that the food tasted AMAZING. It was probably the best Balinese food we have tasted on our whole trip.

The whole experience was great. We loved all of the information shared with us about the culture in Bali and the daily living and way of life of the people. The food was out of this world, so fresh and tasty. We also really liked learning about the healung properties of all of the spices.
The people where so friendly and helpful. We would definately recommend this as a must do activity when in Bali

"Entertaining and informative"
The day was quite action packed because of the rice paddy and market visit and because we cooked so many dishes. The staff were all very kind and they have ran this class many times and are very efficient. We helped chop some food but mostly everything was already chopped and we assembled/prepared the food. We has a small group so we all got our own fry pan to cook. Afterwards, we all got to the buffet which was really delicious.

The cooking class was really fun! Beforehand you’ll go to a rice paddy were they will give you info about (obviously) rice. After you’ll go to a local market to get to know all kinds of fruits and vegetables they have in Bali. Then you go to the house of this lovely family, and cook 9 things. It was such a great experience. The chef, his father and brother will tell you about Bali and their rituals. Highly recommend!!

"So much more than expected"
We were a group of 6 friends and loved this class so much. The host gave us a great introduction with a short insight into the history and the cultural background of Bali, and proceeded to tell us all about the ingredients we were using and how each dish fit into that culture. The food was delicious and the hosts home was a beautiful traditional Balinese home, we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great cooking experience!

"Fantastic experience all round"
We really enjoyed the visit to the local market, tour around the organic farm and the hands on cooking experience. The staff we all so friendly, helpful and welcoming. There was a great range of dishes that we cooked and we had lovely company with couples from Portugal and America. Our guide and cooking teacher, Derren had a great sense of humour and gave excellent clear instructions while we were cooking. I would highly recommend this particular cooking experience as it involves both the market tour and veggie garden tour.

"Perfect day in Bali"
Started with a tour of their local market where we sampled fruits and sweets. Then headed to the farm and walked around the garden picking items for our meals. The rest of the day was spent cooking and eating delicious Balinese food. Such a great day, one of the best during my time in Bali.

From start to finish this was a great experience booking was very easy and my booking was confirmed quickly.
I was picked up from my accommodation by Sangayu and taken through the beautiful countryside to her home for my Coconut Oil making class.
Sangayu and her family were very welcoming and made me feel at home. I was the only person in the class and Sangayu spent time explaining the process and I was even lucky enough to get a arm and hand massage with the coconut that we had grated.
This is a good experience and one to recommend very pleased with the end product.

"Wonderful instructor and experience"
I learned about Made Ayu's class through my TripAdvisor and Google searches when I arrived in Ubud on a Tuesday. I booked the class through Cookly and was quickly confirmed for the next day's morning class. When her cousin picked me up at my hotel, to my pleasant surprise, I was going to be the only person in class. Her cousin and I went to the market where we picked a couple items (most Made and her other cousin, Wayan, already had ready to go at home) like garlic, ginger flower, and shallots and I got to see the different stalls and learn about different kinds of rice and produce and chatted a bit with the vendors. Definitely take the morning class if you are interested in seeing the market, as I believe it's the only time it's offered. Upon arrival at Made's family home, which takes place in a traditional Balinese home/compound, don't be alarmed seeing other family members occasionally poopping around, including her mother. They don't intrude on class, but it's kind of neat to be immersed in their home life. Made and Wayan do a lot of chopping prep when the group is small, but it was still very hands on and delicious and they were able to accomodate my request to do a vegetarian meal option. I also learned how to make a palm leaf offering and took pictures with them and of course of our food. Overall, delicious food, helpful recipes for later, and lots of smiles and laughs. One thing to note it's you don't spend too much time at rice farms (you pass by some in the area between the market and going to class) to take pictures and Made's cousin does a great job explaining the rice harvest process on the ride (I asked a lot of questions though). You also do not make coconut oil, but Made, does explain the process and show you the different components of it as it goes through the process and you of course cook with it. Overall, very educational, informative and fun for this non-cook :)

"See and taste it all!"
I went with the morning market tour and cooking class, definitely the right choice. The market tour was great, getting to see the locals in their element and try new exotic fruits from the island - snake fruit (or salak locally) is my new fav! Then off to their home farm where you get to pick your own fresh produce right from the source. Our guide was incredibly knowledgable and had fun slipping a couple of pranks on us unassuming foreigners 😂 we were then walked through cooking six different indo meals, getting to stop in between courses to enjoy our work. The location was beautiful, the food so fresh and tasty, and the guides were lovely and so patient. Would highly recommend this class!!

"Authentic intimate cooking experience in family home"
My experience with Jambangan cooking class was incredible. It just so happened that I was the only to sign up for that session, so I had the class to myself. The family that runs the school is incredibly hospitable and encourages you to be as hands on as possible. Would 100% do again.

Transport to and from the compound was well organised.
The afternoon started with a drink and snack and intro from the host about Balinese life and family culture, which was very interesting. "Amazing cooking class!!"
Ayu was an excellent host and had great English. She welcomed us into her traditional Balinese home which was the perfect venue for an authentic cooking class with plenty of space and was well equipped. Ayu also told us great information about Balinese traditional life that we never would have known without doing the cookery class. Definitely recommend:)

The cooking course at Ubad was fantastic. The hostess was delightful, spoke excellent English and taught us about the culture in a personal way that we have not found anywhere in Bali. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to see the real Bali and get their hands dirty! The markets were fascinating and our guide explained everything to us. This cooking class was such a fun experience. Starting at the market we got to taste all the local sweets and fruits -watch out, dont eat to much other wise you are to stuffed for all the delicious food that will come after- Being in a group with 5 we had plenty of personal contact with our kind guide. The organic farm was a dream, and the cooking place so nicely situated within the farm. It was great to pick your own veggies, the meal we made were so tasty and the staff so kind. I can recommend this day out to everyone!

"Exceptional - Experience and lesson"
What a fantastic experience. If you want gain some insight into the Balinese culture sign up for this class. You will go to the market and see the traditional Balinese dishes and than back to the family home where you learn how a Balinese family extended family live. This was a wonderful insight into the Balinese way of life. The food was delicious and so much that my husband and I were unable to eat all of what we cooked. I highly recommend this cooking class, The interaction from our teacher and other family members really made my husband and I welcome. We will attend another class with this school the next time we return to Bali, If your signing up for a class do this one you will not be disappointed.

"The class was wonderful!"
I had so much fun in this class! A driver picked me up and drove me to the market where I met Nyoman who did the cooking class for me. I did an afternoon class and part of the market had closed by then, but he showed me individual vendors and their carts and explained what they were selling and it was very informative. I loved it. We then went to his family home and they have a section set up to do the cooking classes. What they have created is beautiful! A huge outside kitchen, totally organized and ready for class. I met his Auntie and Ma and they helped prep food and clean up. I made about 7 dishes and they were all delicious and they looked pretty. I was very full after only a few bites, (the heat and humidity took away my appetite), so Auntie and Ma wrapped my food up so I could take it back to my hotel. The amazing thing about my experience is that I was the only one in the class. Because it's the slow season, it was just me, but KDongDing Cooking Class treated me as if I was a class of 12. They showed me everything and had me cook everything as if I was in a full class. I was very impressed. You will make the Mother Sauce, drink yummy coffee, and eat the food you make. You will also learn about their traditions. I was impressed and touched by how much family means to them. The class wasn't expensive, check it out. (I forgot to tip the driver, it was raining and I was flustered and it slipped my mind. Please tip him for me and I'll pay it forward from my end. Thanks!)

"An extensive exploration of Balinese Cuisine!"
My girlfriend and I have done cooking classes in the past and this was without a doubt the best.
The walk across the rice fields and explanation of local history was a great start to the day.
What really impressed me was how much hands on cooking we got involved in. Cooking 9 dishes, the instructor ran through all the different ingredients and how they’re used in Balinese cooking. There was never a dull moment!
At the end, we got to keep the list of recipes used throughout the class and we’ll definitely be cooking these again!

"Tasty and interesting"
We really enjoyed the class and the insight into Indonesian cooking. We were taken care of the whole time and guided with no rush through the different tastes and dishes. The group was very small which was very comfortable and we had enough time to prepare everything by ourselves. At the end we could eat as much as we wanted and were even offered a take away. We can certainly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the authentic cuisine of Bali!

From visting the market to eating our creations the whole experience exceeded our expectations. We learnt so much from Nyoman, very informative tour of the local market, shared his exceptional knowledge of the ingredients and the health benefits and then fun cooking class with his Aunt as assistant. Such a lovely thing to do in Ubud.. ! Ketut is an amazing and very entertaining teacher and his family and support staff are incredibly efficient and wonderful. The class runs seamlessly and you learn an incredible amount in a very short period. The market tour is also a really nice feature even though I had been to the early morning market the was a lot that was lost on me before visiting with Ketut's nephew. "It was great! A really fun experience!"
We began the day with going to the market, where we tasted a lot of fruit. Many of the fruit we tasted was totally new to me and they told us about it too, so it was very interesting.
After that we got to see their farm, and pick ingredients that we would cook later. They also told us some information about the things they farmed. It was a beautiful farm!
The cooking class was very fun! They told us and helped us cook the food. They had a really happy mood, and thats a plus!
The cost is very good for everything you get. It includes all of the above and also transport. So the money is really worth it.
A really fun experience, I would definitely do it again!
