Class starts with a trip to a local market. In Bali Markets open early, The food markets are a great way to introduce students to Bali culture and lifestyle.Touring a traditional outdoor market provides insight both into how Balinese people approach cooking and how many spend their day. These lessons are as important as those in the kitchen. The Balinese Cooking Class that we offer are completely hands on and conducted in English, students will be provided their own cooking station and utensils to prepare and cook all of dishes by themselves.

From the moment Ketut picked us up from our hotel he was entertaining, warm and funny. Ketut gave us a tour of Ubud market where he introduced us to the interesting fruit, vegetables herbs and spices used in Balinese cooking. From the market we were driven to Ketuts cooking school where we had such a great time learning how to prepare beautiful Balinese food. Ketut made the day with his quirky style and culinary skills. The staff were also of great assistance. To finish we sat down to an enormous feast before being driven back to the hotel. Highly recommend Ketut’s cooking school.
Morning pickup was on time, followed by a very entertaining and informative tour through the Ubud produce market. We were then driven out to Ketut’s kitchen in a beautiful rural setting only 10 mins from central Ubud. It was all spotlessly clean, well equipped and we all had individual ‘stations’ and lots of assistance from Ketut’s very helpful staff. Ketut’s instructions were clear and he and his staff made the whole cooking experience so much fun. Ingredients were all fresh and the finished dishes were delicious! Very happy to recommend this class to all.
I had a fabulous time at Bapak Ketut's cooking class. First of all, it was very well-organized and well-payed out. Ingredients were fresh and the recipes were easy to follow and yet so delicious. It was so nice and rewarding to eat all the delicious dishes we had cooked ourselves! But most of all, it was the charm of the jolly Pak Ketut himself that made the event completely worth it. He was so much fun and funny, we were all in stitches from laughing so much. He was the icebreaker and even though I went by myself, at the end of the morning, I felt friendly with everyone. Thank you so much!! Will try the recipes when I get home!
Ketut's school is very well set up and professional and every way. In taking care of students individual needs to the knowledge passed on to students on the finer arts of Balinese cooking.
I really enjoyed my class. I love to cook and Ketut's class gave me the edge for when I return home and start cooking my Balinese curries, satays and treats for family and friends. Wonderful 1/2 day, highly recommend you do it! Mary - Australia
Ketut was great value. We had lots of laughs. The class was well organised and we got to make everything from scratch rather than just watch which was what we wanted. There was lots of food and it was all delicious. I'd definitely recommend this class.
The class itself was amazing, Ketut and his chefs are brilliant - informative, knowledgeable, and just so much fun! Learning the sauces which you can then add to any dish was really good as you can then experiment yourself. Just one slight negative - we booked the afternoon option and this didn't include a market trip even though it said it does on the itinerary. Don't feel it detracted from the experience at all but worth noting.
We were really lucky one rainy afternoon we found ourselves at the top of Bali in a private class for our family. In the morning they had 16 people so we felt very lucky. We made beautiful food under very patient guidelines. Very recommended. However, we did think we were making vegetarian dishes but they weren't. Not a problem for us but might have been for someone else.

I love to cook and I do a cooking class in every country I visit. This class was wonderful. The market tour in Asian countries is pretty standard and this was no different. We were a small class and we were all quite knowledgeable about the ingredients in the market.. What I loved was the cooking. The staff were fabulous. Everything was explained very well. We started by making 3 sauces and then used these as the basis for all our dishes. I was the only vegetarian so my dishes were vegetarian examples of the meat dishes cooked. I loved the cooking of the food but what a feast when we finished. A fabulous day. Highly recommended.
Chef Ketut was pretty good at letting us try all the different. Foods available at the morning market in Ubud. And also good at making sure we got the local prices if we wanted to buy some stuff. The class itself was well organized and very good value for money considering we made around 10 dishes. Food was good. And be catered to vegetarian/vegan.
