Diwali Festival Night Out with Locals (Includes Cooking Class, Temple Visit, and Market Tour)

You may have heard of Diwali Festival — also known as the Festival of Lights — but this is a unique opportunity to celebrate with a local family. 

We welcome you to join us in our Diwali celebrations. We'll all dress in traditional clothing for the evening, paint henna on our hands, and visit a local market and temple to witness the prayers. 

But no Diwali is complete without food. You'll be welcomed to dinner by our family, who will prepare a delicious feast of local specialities. You'll even get to cook a few Indian snacks and learn how to make traditional masala tea. 

Everyone will help prepare our communal dinner table and enjoy the meal together. At the very end of the night, there will be a special present for you. 

Menu

You will how to make masala tea, one sweet, and one snack. Everything else listed will be available to eat during our feast.

Teas

• Famous masala tea
• Fruit-infused green tea or black tea

Sweet bites

• Fresh fruit cake
• Indian cookies
• Assorted Indian sweets
• Caramelized nut rolls

Homemade Indian snacks  

• Lentil fritters with greens 
• Seasonal veggies Fritters
• Stuffed baked mushrooms
• Paneer rolls
• Mutton or chicken balls
• Finger sandwiches
• A couple of fried Indian snacks with a twist

Dinner 

• Indian style daal/chickpeas
• Seasonal vegetable
• Non-vegan gravy
• Zeera rice
• Puri (fried bread) 

Schedule

• 12:30 pm: Pick up from hotel. 
• 1:30 pm: Introduction to our family and enjoy a refreshing welcome drink and snack.
• 2:00 pm: Start home decoration for Diwali with flowers and lights. 
• 3:30 pm: Market visit and Henna application on your hands.
• 5:00 pm: Visit a temple on the way back home.
• 5:30 pm: Time to enjoy high tea with at least 10 snacks.
• 7:30 pm: Learn at least one dish of your choice.
• 8:30 pm: Time of firework on the rooftop. 
• 9:30 pm: Dinner will be served.
• 10:30 pm: Time to say goodbye with a box of Diwali sweets and a small gift.
