'Cook like a local while learning secrets of Okinawa’s longevity food culture'

In the food market tour at the Naha Public Market located nearby, you will learn about locally grown products and select ingredients used in the cooking class.

Upon returning to our studio, you will prepare a three- or four-course menu consisting of a classic appetizer, main dish, soup, and dessert. The class is facilitated by a bilingual Okinawan food enthusiast and instructed by professionally trained chefs.

The classes are a fun, social, hands-on experience where you will not only prepare various dishes in a teamwork setting but also learn about ingredients and cooking methods that contribute to Okinawa’s longevity food culture.

Menu

We cook 3 or 4 dishes depending on the menu during the class. Also the menu we cook changes depending on the season. If you have a specific request, please message us. 

Goya Champuru

• The most traditional Okinawan dish: Bitter melon stir-fried with Tofu, egg, and bonito-flakes

Miso Rafute

• Juicy and tender Okinawan pork cooked with a sweet miso sauce

A-sa-jiru

• A mild-flavored soup made with bonito soup stock and ‘a-sa’ (Okinawan seaweed)

Sata Andagi

• Traditional Okinawan-style doughnuts

Okinawa Soba

• Traditional Okinawan noodle soup cooked with pork stock(Dashi) and bonito stock 

Jyu-shi

• Rice cooked with pork/bonito stock(Dashi) and various ingredients 

Mozuku-su

• A superfood, Mozuku(Okinawan seaweed) cooked with sweet vinegar sauce

Schedule

• 3:20 pm: Meeting at the studio
• 3:30 pm: Local food market tour
• 4:15 pm: Cooking session (cooking 3 or 4 dishes)
• 6:00 pm: Eating
• 6:30 pm: End of the cooking class and ready to go
