Handmade Pasta with Nonna Nerina

Hello Travelers!

We are a family from a small village in the North part of Rome, a land known for its organic cultures and its wonderful medieval castle: Palombara Sabina.

Our village is 30 minutes away from the crowded city (I will provide for you a train ticket from Roma Tiburtina -one of the main train station in Rome- to Pianabella di Montelibretti, our meeting point), surrounded by a total different landscape! We will have a walk together in the tiny medieval streets up to the village and finally we will reach our location: our kitchen is located in an old winepress room where my great grandpa used to make the wine for the community. It's a very special place for my family and all the village itself.

We will taste a good Prosecco and bruschetta, made with our local extra-virgin olive oil: the Romans called it "the liquid gold", an ancient product now protected by the European mark DOP.

And, of course, we will start to cook!!! You will have the best chef ever teaching you: an Italian grandma!

Nonna Nerina and her sisters and cousins will show you the real handmade technique to have a perfect pasta. No machines, just your hands and love! We will use the freshest local ingredients and, for one day, you will be part of our crazy family!

Cooking pasta is part of our culture and tradition, you will not just have a cooking class: you will touch a reality that is disappearing and that you can find just in the small villages far from the cities. You will smell our extra virgin olive oil, touch the fibers of Nonna's dowry, look at medieval stones and... savor our pasta, of course!

We also offer a baby sitting service for children less than 5 yo, for an additional cost.

Schedule

Monday to Friday

• 9:30 am: Train departure from Roma Tiburtina (I will provide your train tickets)
• 10:00 am: Pickup in Pianabella di Montelibretti
• 10:15 am: Walking Tour in the medieval center of Palombara Sabina
• 11:00 am: Bruschetta and Prosecco in my Greatgrandpa favorite place (surprise!)
• 11:30 am: Cooking class! Let's break those eggs together!
• 1:00 pm:  Eat!!!
• 2:30 pm:  Hugs and Arrivederci!
