Hello! I'm Sato. I’m a cooking teacher. I teach Japanese home-style dishes for foreign visitors @ my apartment in Shinjuku,Tokyo. Are you into cooking Japanese food? Do you wanna feel more familiar with Japanese culture through cooking? If you are one of them, why don't you join my class? In my class, I'll introduce not only standard home-style dishes, but also will introduce various kinds of Japanese food such as Western Style Japanese food, Junk food, Spicy food, Exotic food and so on. You would be totally surprised at the variety of food you cook, but eventually you would feel very close to Japan!
What I liked: Meeting Sato-san was my highlight! He welcomed us into his home kitchen and shared everything that he knows about preparing Japanese staples like miso soup and rice. He shared his mother’s homemade miso with us and showed us how to properly make miso soup from start to finish. Sato-san was so excited to share his rice burger recipe with us because he wants travelers to experience this local favorite! His recipe was also extremely delicious!
What to know: Take the class with the tour! That would be my biggest tip. Exploring Tokyo’s hidden gems with Sato-san will give you an unforgettable experience.

The menu changes depending on the day of the week. We’ll cook one of the menus with 2 to 4 items and afterwards we'll have a walking trip.

Temaki-sushi is self-hand-rolled-sushi! We often enjoy it with family at home or at a party! Saturday is Temaki day in Japan! Do you know that?

Cooking and going on a tour with Sato was a wonderful experience. The hours spent with him went beyond a simple learning and teaching exchange, thus Sato made us feel immediately comfortable in his small but cozy kitchen and it was like dining with friends, casual and pleasant. Sato is an experienced cook who will reveal his own secret recipes while sharing personal experiences that led him to choosing cooking as a profession. He s also very patient and will answer all your questions. After a delightful an tasty lunch, we went on a guided tour, discovering some of the neighborhood non touristic alleys, took a close look at Godzilla, strolled through Tokyo ‘s market place, a treasure land for collectors and anime funds. On my demand we made a short stop at a supermarket, I wanted to get accustomed to local products and ended the tour at the most elegant department store. I highly recommend this class and tour, if your are interested in non conventional but exciting and casual discovery.
We met Sato and first impressions didn't disappoint. We walked a short distance back to his apartment (To be welcomed into his home was a real treat) where he had prepared the ingredients, recipe sheets and everything that we would need to cook with him. The option was there to be hands on or to sit back and watch. He explained everything as we went along. The food was beautiful and the was a lot to eat. Don't fill up before the lesson. After he cleaned up after us, he took us to some places that where interesting and as a tourist we would never of found. He picked up our bus fare and escorted us back to the train station when the tour was over. For a fun and casual cooking experience we would recommend Sato.
