"Chinju no Mori", well known as the "sacred place for sake lovers" among the Japanese locals, is the place where you can taste the best and the real essence of Japanese Sake. We are probably one of the most popular and most famous izakaya here in Tokyo with more than 4000 bottles of sake in storage. We believe that just like wines, each of the sake has it's own best timing to taste.
While most of the sake drinker's still believes that the fresher the sake, the better it should be. That theory is sometimes true, however most of the sake could taste better after an appropriate time of aging. Thus we hold a good amount of storage in order for each of the customers to be able to enjoy the full potential of each of the sake.
Once you are seated, we will serve you with more than 10 glasses of different spirits which comes from all around the local area of Japan.

We walked into this tasting with almost zero knowledge of sake and walked out feeling confident we would be able to pair different types with various foods. We have a baseline of knowledge now that will help us to keep learning. The host is very friendly and knowledgeable, he answered all of our questions and used a map of Japan to explain the regional differences. We wish we would have taken this class at the beginning of our trip! Sake is now included in our home wine selection because of this experience, and I highly recommend it.
Very informative, very lively! Enthusiastic instructor. We enjoyed the detail in the manufacturing and distribution of sake. The instructors global knowledge brought a unique perspective to our understanding of Japan and sake. Highly recommend!
The Sake tasting course about the Deep World of Sake was truly great. Super educational and amazing Sakes to taste and learn about. A lot of fun as well. Can’t wait to return and taste more. Highly recommend!!!
This was an amazingly great experience. Best all our expectations and would recommend doing this.
Location is very easy to reach, owner of the izakaya Mr.Tatsu welcomed me warmly. His place is very cosy and high quality. It’s a membership-based izakaya because they serve original sakes that you can’t find at markets. Mr.Tatsu told me about the culture, process, details and territory of each sake. I tasted lots of different and delicious sakes. Mr.Tatsu loves sakes and he is very knowledgeable and gentleman person. It was a great experience. Thank you.
It was great to hear from someone passionate about sake share the history knowledge and enjoyment of this drink
Excellent knowledge , superb English etc
Very friendly and informative class with the opportunity to try lots of different types of sake. We tried sake we probably never would have if it weren't for the class and found some new favourites! The joining instructions were very clear. Very highly recommended!
It was such a eye opening experience our teacher had so much knowledge and a great way of explaining everything we wanted to know if your thinking about doing it, then book it you won’t regret it!!
Really interesting and enjoyable, with a great host. We were complete beginners, but even we got plenty out of it. Great value. Great variety of sakes (10 different ones, with the opportunity to have another glass of any favourites) out of the owners huge ~6.5k bottle collection. He also very kindly offered to sell us a tricky to find bottle if we came back the next day. Would definitely recommend and would revisit next time we’re in Tokyo.
