After half an hour drive away from Seminyak, we'll first go to a very traditional Balinese market for a tour. Afterwards we'll go to our beautiful organic garden where the agricultural practices of Balinese farmers will be revealed. You will be given a rice hat and invited to collect seasonal ingredients in the garden. Your organic cooking lesson will start with tastings from the garden at Ombak restaurant, and then continued with an exclusive lunch with the chef.

A complete disappointment. The reality didn't meet the enticing description. We booked this class as our holiday treat and paid a premium (more than our 4 night hotel stay) expecting an exceptional experience. The main disappointment was the chef and his poor command of English - he was only able to explain things in basic terms ("this is ginger / now add that") and did not give us any insight into Indonesian cooking/culture. The class itself was outside, which is nice in theory, but there were flies everywhere. The cooking area didn't feel clean and the chef kept tasting with and reusing the same utensils after a quick rinse, which was horrendous. The hotel shouldnt offer the class if their chefs arent able to bring the experience to life. The market visit and organic garden were both disappointing in equal measure. Not worth the money nor the extra time/money getting ourselves to the remote location.
