Shanghai Local Experience

Hello, I am Nicole, Shanghai Local Experience was co-founded by me and my husband, Derek. We are both native Shanghainese and we love travelling. During our travels, we always longed for a way to truly experience the lives of locals—trying the food they eat instead of tourist restaurants, visiting local families to get a zero-distance feel for their daily lives, and deeply immersing ourselves in the local culture. This inspired us to create Shanghai Local Experience.

We aim to guide friends from other places through our hometown, Shanghai, as local friends would. We offer food and cultural experiences, taking you to try the hidden gems loved and known only by locals, inviting you to visit our home and enjoy homemade dishes prepared by Chef Derek. Additionally, we provide cultural activities such as Chinese calligraphy, Tai Chi, and tea art experience workshops. We hope that getting to know us will feel like gaining Shanghainese family friends!
