This was a classic experience! Thank you so much Josh! You are amazing! My boyfriend and i were just visiting the country and this class made it extra special. First they took us at local market and they explained local ingredients, where we could find them, how to plant them and their origin. The market was so lovely, you can see the culture through the people around and how they work at the market. After the market tour, we walked to his kitchen studio and he introduced us the background of Paella, Catalan and other famous Spanish dishes. He was very good in English though. We all had a feast afterwards. Everyone was so cool. it was definitely an experience to remember. Highly recommended!
Josh was our cook and he showed us around the market and explained the different ingredients and their origin. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. After the market we walked to his studio to cook up our Paella and make authentic Sangria. He patiently walked us through the process and answered all our questions. The Paella and Sangria turned out amazing and we all came away knowing how to make the Sangria :) The Paella may take a few more practice sessions, but Josh was great with giving us a start! I highly recommend anyone taking his class! It was a fun afternoon and we learned a lot.
We had an amazing time with Joshua, showing us round a local market & trying some local meats & olives. A short walk back to his kitchen & we made some delicious Sangria, a beautiful fresh seafood paella & finished off with some lovely crème Catalan. It was so cool to prep the ingredients as well as learn about the history of some of the food & Josh's passion for food made the experience really great. Overall a great time which ended with some delicious home cooked food!

Cooking Paella with Yoshua was a great experience for all the members of our family. He is not only very well versed on the secrets of a great paella but also friendly and enthusiastic. He was very careful with all our food special request and the result was a fish and vegetable Paella that could win a price. His kitchen and table are also great and also part of the experience. Josh was very knowledgable on the local markets, the foods and selections and made the cooking class itself a very memorable and enjoyable experience. It was fun, entertaining, educational and a delicious meal at the end! Very worthwhile and reasonably priced experience.
My wife and I recently took a trip to Spain and one of our stops was Barcelona where we took the market and the tapas cooking class. I have to say that we were trying to book other cooking classes through another site but they were booked and I am so glad they were. We not only had a very educational tour of the market, which I loved, we also had a blast cooking, learning new recipes and conversing over all things Spain. This cooking class was different from most cooking classes that my wife and I have experienced. It was a more personal and intimate setting right from the start. We met at the market where I thought we were just going to go over some of the basic foods that were there, but it was a different experience. Josh our chef not only showed us the marked and explained the different food and their origins; he also took the time to listen to our food suggestions. He started off by asking us what type of foods we preferred. Then he quickly put together a menu that he felt we would enjoy (which we did). We then went through the market learning the types of food, competing vendors and how some of the vendors have locally grown foods and their ties to the community and the market. After the market it was only a short walk to his private kitchen. There is where the fun began. I love cooking and learning new recipes and that’s just what we did. I won’t bore you will all the recipes since I believe that it was specific to our class, but I will tell you one which I felt was divine. Now I don’t remember the name of it, it was a cut piece of Italian bread with a particular soft sausage(don’t remember the name of) which he uncased spread all over the bread then took a cooking torch, flamed the meat and then added honey on top to finish it off…. DELICIOUS! The other dishes were also very good. The one I mentioned just happened to be my favorite. The tapas class and market tour with chief Josh was an experience I suggest everyone experience. My wife and I had good food with some education of Spain and good company.
Esta mañana con Josh fue una pasada! Nos ha encantado la visita del Mercat del Ninot que es mucho más local que La Boqueria y era sobre todo genial de ser un pequeño grupo de 6 solamente! La receta de la paella era fenomenal (la comimos después de cocinarla) y la de la sangria ya está adoptada por mi familia! Gracias de nuevo y hasta la próxima!
The class was small and intimate. Our chef was polite and well presented. He had interesting information on all the food in the markets including the background of where it all came from. The class was amazing because we got to cook the food not just watch, the sangria and desert also a massive bonus for us as it all tasted sensational and we walk away happy with what we had paid for. The class is well worth going to and put chef was a down to earth all round bloke. Thank you and we will be back.
