Immersive and Private Traditional Thai Cooking Class in a Bangkok Home

This private experience will take place at my home, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood on On Nut Road in Bangkok.

The menu will be curated by me beforehand and will showcase different regional dishes of Thailand as well as introduce guests to new dishes they haven’t tried before. We will not be cooking “basic” Thai dishes like Phad Thai, spring rolls (which aren’t even Thai), and traffic light colored curries.

There will be 5 dishes per class, with one of the dishes being served towards the beginning of class, and the rest for dinner as part of a Thai meal. Dishes will be prepared from scratch, from picking herbs to hand-pounding curry pastes.

Throughout the day, I’ll provide insight into the history of the dishes we’re cooking and maybe some related stories as well. The day will end with a full Thai meal in my dining room (including drinks - this is Thailand) where guests will feel like they’re dining in a friend’s home - because, they are.

Menu

The menu will change regularly, reflecting what’s available at the market and the different regional cuisines of Thailand. The goal remains, however, to showcase the workings of a full Thai meal, so will almost always include:

• Curry
• Chili relish
• Some sort of stir fried component
• Soup

Cronograma

Sample Schedule:

• 12:00 pm: Meet at my home, have coffee or snacks, introductions, and a brief lecture on what we’ll be learning for the day, including the history of the dishes.
• 12:45 pm: Begin prep for our first dish, a one-plate meal or “ahaan jaan diao”.
• 1:30 pm: Cook our first dish; tasting (lunch).
• 2:00 pm: Begin prep for the rest of the dishes. This will take most of the day, and include lots of insight throughout.
• 3:45 pm: Cook and assemble dishes. 
• 4:15 pm: Dinner/tasting, including drinks (which you may bring!). Think of it as a Thai dinner party. 
• 5:00 pm: End of Class

*Classes are offered Mondays to Fridays and every other Saturday.
