Super recommended course, at all times I was happy, I went to meet the chef who was giving the course, he greeted me with a cold drink and after talking a little we started the class that besides being alone was like a private class, very well explaining the steps to make the three dishes, chicken rice, chilli crab and the dessert that he taught me to make, as well as techniques to make everything much tastier and faster.
I took the Hainanese chicken rice, ondeh ondeh, and chilli crab sauce class with Lena. The ingredients were prepared promptly and the recipe sheets with good details. The studio was bright, naturally lit. The tools/equipment required for these recipes were normally available in home kitchen. Lena demonstrated how to prepare the chicken rice step by step, explaining clearly along the way. The chicken was tender and the rice not too oily. There was some hands-on fun with the ondeh ondeh (sweet dessert made from flour, coconut milk, and palm sugar). The chilli crab sauce was tasty. Lena advised how to adjust the taste and gave suggestions on some ingredient replacement. Lena could not have been more understanding and accomodating. I had to postpone the date and changed the class time due to sickness of a family member. She also prepared the recipe for the additional ginger dip, as requested, to go with the chicken rice. I highly recommend Lena's class at the Baking Loft.
Learnt to prepare local food like chicken rice, ondeh ondeh and chilli crab sauce. Got a chance for hands on activity and eat the food I cooked. Fun and simple and suitable for anyone. Recipes included.
We really enjoyed learning to make Hainanese Chicken Rice. It's our favourite Singaporean dish and the class showed us every step and we were able to take the recipe away ready to make for family and friends. The instructor had great energy and the school was located in a lovely private venue with great city views. Great value for money!
Lena and Eddie were knowledgable, friendly, and a ton of fun. They were well prepared, the recipe was easy to follow, and the view from the loft was fantastic. We peppered them with all kinds of questions regarding things to do/eat in Singapore and their suggestions were fantastic. Would definitely do again!
I cannot rate this place high enough. I had a brilliant time learning new things about food. Lena is friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. The location is very convenient and The Baking Loft is beautifully decorated and organized. You definitely feel like you’re in a real kitchen. Unlike a lot of cooking schools in Singapore, this one is smaller, which is important because you get a lot more attention from the chef, can ask lots of questions and get a much better sense of what it means to cook locally. I’m definitely coming back next time I’m in Singapore!
Traveled solo for business and signed up for one of their classes. After taking 1 class, I immediately signed up for a second class before my trip was over. Really great time - Fun stories from people who have lived their life in Singapore and grew up eating the recipes. 100% try this out - pick a recipe that you like. Cooking solo? Class was filled with fellow travelers. Definitely try this out if you have a free morning in Singapore.
This was my first time joining a cooking class in Singapore. It's an awesome cooking class at a reasonable price. My teacher Lena was so nice and friendly, she picked me up from the lobby to her neat & beautiful workshop on time. She was so professional as well to teach me the skills to cook those yummy Singaporean dishes! I had a really good time with Lena, and I would definitely recommend this cooking class to everyone who is interested in cooking and planning to visit Singapore.
Chef 林是一位慈祥幽默的長者，他的料理經驗非常豐富，講解課程詳細，課程教室位於市中心，地鐵站附近，如果你想要學習正統好吃的海南雞飯及辣椒螃蟹醬汁的做法，上這堂課準沒錯，另外ondeh ondeh的做法也相當天然簡單好吃，更重要的是它放了兩天還是一樣Q軟，絕對是招待朋友的好點心，此外，Lina是一位相當棒的助理，她非常熱心及親切，還主動分享當地好吃的餅乾及泡芙，總之，這是一個非常愉快的午餐，如果你對料理有興趣，強烈推薦你可以試試。喔，如果你還有其他想學的料理，也可以事先跟主廚討論課程，他們也可以教授的喲。
The lesson is enjoyable and engaging. I find the instructor knowledgeable and helpful. I will recommend others to the class. I was grateful the ingredients were some I could purchase in Australia. It was interesting to find sugar would lower the “bite” of the chilli heat!
