The “Vietnamese Venice” is integrated with a plethora of canals and is known for it’s melting pot of culture and history, demonstrated in its diverse architecture. In our cooking classes, you will find the sundry of Vietnamese cuisines reflected in the food that you cook. We offer classes on general Vietnamese food, where you can take a bicycle or boat tour through the canals to further explore the dynamic city where the cuisine you will be cooking was created. Some of our cooking classes offer you to take a trip to the local market to collect your ingredients. We even offer specific niche classes, for example you can learn how to master pho, or choose to pick fresh herbs from a garden to incorporate into your cooking.
My partner and I booked this tour the night before and were very pleased with our choice. They may be new on Cookly but they have an astounding pool of reviews for their tour on TripAdvisor. The guide, Long, was very friendly and accommodating. He did everything to make us feel comfortable. We were lucky because we were the only two tourists on the tour that afternoon. He picked us up from our hostel in Hoi An, brought us to the market (which was pretty silent because we booked the afternoon tour) to get some ingredients, sent us to his little restaurant to have a cup of sugarcane juice before getting on the basket boat tour around the coconut forest. Long was the one who rowed the boat, made little souvenirs for us, brought us to see the fisherman cast his net, brought us to do some crab fishing and gave us a little thrilling ride on the boat. Thereafter, we returned to his restaurant and was given a bottle of cold water to rest. We then began our cooking lesson, which was demonstrated by his sister-in-law and translated by Long himself. At the end of the cooking session, we had a whole table of food - spring rolls, a salad, the Vietnamese pancake, seafood stir fry noodles, and also a special dish - clams cooked in lemongrass and chilli. We were also given some mangoes for dessert. Long then sent us back to our homestay with our filled bellies, recipes for the dishes we have prepared, and a lot of wonderful experiences. Long was very funny, informative, and I liked that he offered to take many pictures for us. He could also communicate well in English. Thank you, Long! "Great class, caring and hands-on staff"
Such a great experience today. The course was great, very thorough and also super quick as well. Didn’t waste any time which was nice. They were very thoughtful and amazing hosts and my group was also wonderful which is always a plus. Nhu was a GEM and the owner of the cooking school was also such a great man that came up after to make sure we all had a great time. Plus the food was also outstanding 😍 they accommodated to me being a vegan which was very much appreciated. Thank you!!!

"What a morning!"
what a wonderful way to experience local cuisine and meet people. Nhi, our guide and chef has such a lovely and cheery personality and is so knowledgeable about all food. We had Vegan as well as meaty menu and all of it was delicious and cooked with love.
Morning market experience is definitely worth waking up a bit earlier that usual!

Great activities from the boat ride to the coracle ride to buffalo pulling the cart. Neck and shoulder massage was great albeit all too short with a lovely foot massage. The cooking was great with a fantastic chef instructing us being Truong and her helpers we made mango seafood salad, pork and mushrooms pancake, rice pancake and bacon and shrimp pancake wrapped in rice paper and then sautéed chicken with lemongrass and chilli. All of the food was fantastic. We were also shown how to garnish the dishes making cucumber and tomato flowered, cucumber butterflies. When we were first picked up we were taken to the market and shown various spices, oils and vegetables. I would recommend using Sabirama

Class was a lots of fun and instructions were clear and dishes were tasty! We started off doing a market tour where our guide explained what we were buying and for what dishes. We then took a boat and bus to the cooking facility. It was extremely clean and we'll organized. There were about 13 people on our tour split into two groups...so attention was very individualized. They gave us a recipe book and long chop sticks for cooking. Look forward to trying out these dishes at home.

"Such a great class!"
We had an amazing morning on the cooking class. Hon, our chef, was super friendly and incredibly knowledgable, talking us around the market explaining in detail about the foods, herbs etc. and answering any questions we had.
The whole experience was really great from the market visit in the morning, the gorgeous boat ride through the coconut forest and the class itself.
Hon talked us through the dishes expertly and his instructions were really easy to follow, as well as picking up tips on technique along the way.
Would really recommend this class to everyone, great value and feels like a really genuine experience of Vietnamese cuisine!

"Informative, delicious and fun!"
It was difficult to pick a cooking class as there are so many in Hoi An. We ended up choosing Green Bamboo because of the apparently relaxed and familial atmosphere and because we could decide what to cook. We weren’t wrong!! We loved discovering the morning market with Van, it made us more at ease with the Vietnam way of buying fresh ingredients. After we enjoyed a nice coffee break (for me the best coffee I had in Vietnam so far) before going over to Van’s and start cooking. We learned a lot, laughed a lot and had the chance to sample 11 excellent dishes. Everyone had a go at cooking in front of the others so it was very inclusive and lots of fun! We would highly recommend this class if you’re looking for an authentic cooking experience. We didn’t notice that we went 1h over time because we were enjoying ourselves so much. The recipe book at the end was also a definite plus! Thanks Van for having us over :)

Chef Danny and his wife greeted us on their motorbikes at our hostel and took us to the local market. Danny showed us the different vegetables, meat, and fish they sell at the market. He even picked up some veggies and shrimp that we would use in the meal we were cooking last night. We then went to his garden where Danny picked some herbs and lettuce we would use while cooking.
The whole cooking experience was so much fun and so intimate as it was just me, my boyfriend, and Danny’s family in his home. After cookin we ate our meal and everything tasted delicious! Once we were finished eating we took some final photos and Danny emailed us some of the pictures his wife took of us, the recipies, and some of Danny’s favorite pictures from Hoi An in general. Overall it was definitely a highlight of our time in Vietnam! 10/10 would recommend!!!

"Such good fun"
This was most enjoyable. Tin Tin was fab. Arranged a well organised tour. The short boat trip was fun and they provide traditional hats. We were split into 2 groups and all took part in making the meal. It’s a lovely setting and best of all you get to cook your evening meal. Thank you Tim Tin we had a great time.

The package was fun and informative. We enjoyed all of the many activities. Our guide was very friendly and we learnt a lot about the Vietnamese way of life. A highlight for my daughter was the water buffalo interaction. She loved him and we were allowed plenty of time to ride and pet him, not rushed on at all. The cooking was fun and food delicious. Will be recommending this tour to everyone.

The whole experience with nhu and her team was fantastic. Going through the market and lovely boat trip, before a delightful foot massage and drink surrounded by orchards over looking a koi pond really set the scene. We cannot say enough good things about this experience!! We ended up getting a private cooking class, and our guide, Trang, was wonderful! She showed us local foods they grew on the property, was very fun and personable, explained each ingredient individually, and her English was phenomenal.
The food was some of the best we have had in Vietnam, and we are so thankful we had this experience so we can attempt to replicate some of the meals at home. Trang even wrote down our email so she could send us the recipes!
I highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Hoi An!

"Great cooking class under the supervison of Tintin"
We had a great time at the market with Tintin. She kindly explained the different herbs and noodles and how to get the best quality of meat. The boat ride through the coconut trees was nice.
My boyfriend has a severe peanut allergy and they altered the menu to make sure we could make everything recepies without any danger. We met a very nice English couple and we had lots of fun with Tintin. The food was really good; I cant wait to make it at home :)

This is an awesome experience for us. We chose this package as it includes market tour, bamboo boat ride, buffalo ride, massage and of course the cooking! Highly recommended to those who want to further appreciate the Vietnamese culture. We don’t cook but the guide (her name is You) is so encouraging and patient with us, we did 4 Vietnamese dishes! It was good that each of us had our own cooking station and we eat what we cooked. The venue was lovely and meeting grandma was a nice touch! The whole process of making rice crepes was an eye-opener. So much work, skill and time involved in cooking each delicate piece! Overall great fun and an interesting day out. I would also like to commend the cooking instructor as well. She was charming and very knowledgeable about the use of local herbs.

"What a special day"
We did the afternoon session. The tour was great and Danny is really fun. I’m vegetarian and we brought the ingredients for my meal. The best part is getting back to his home in a vegetable village. A tasty local drink had us ready for our class. It was one-stop entertainment. The dishes were fun to make and the smell made our taste buds water. His family is a delight. We were treated to entertain from his 5-year-old as we ate. A very happy boy who liked people. His wife is very attentive and makes sure you have all you need. His daughter blew me away with her English. I recommend everyone to cook with Danny.

"Excellent, well organised and very clean!"
We did the 4-7pm which was perfect as what you cook becomes your evening meal, the venue was very clean and the food cooking experience all hands-on with people taking things in turns to prepare the whole meal. Would highly recommend. Pickup from the hotel and a short boat ride into the venue is included. All the food was very fresh and lots of it so arrive there hungry!!

We did this cooking class. My partner has some allergies that at are usually a bit tricky to manage but they did an amazing job ensuring he gets the same experience as the rest of us.
