Learn How to Make Udon from Scratch

The Udon making class we took with Sho was amazing. Our friends who are chefs recommended it and could not have steered us more in the right direction. Sho was so knowledgeable about everything, even explaining to us the chemistry behind cooking (what activates certain in residents). We had the best day and made the most amazing udon. Thank you Sho!!!

Sho Aoyama is so polite and enthusiastic about cooking. Every step of his cooking is so precise and well-matched to the others. He explains the need of every ingredient and told us so many basic tips of cooking! If you go to Osaka, you have to do this cooking class! (:

I was a single student for the morning class. Sho-san guides each step of the way and was extremely patient in answering all my questions (even questions unrelated to udon). I have gained so much from him. His chemistry background was also most helpful to me.

Very educational on culture and food science. We loved learning and enjoyed eating our hand (and foot) made meal!

Even though it is on the expensive side, it is definetly worth it!

I’ve taken several cooking classes and eaten lots of different styles of Udon in Japan, WASHO’s cooking class far exceeded our expectations. Sho, our instructor was patient, supportive, knowledgeable (he has a chemical engineering background) and funny! He provided very nuanced cooking and ingredient shopping tips that help take our dish from good to excellent. It’s a true labor of love to hand make the noodles from scratch and you could taste all of that work in the final product. I highly recommend WASHO cooking and we’ll be taking other classes from Sho in the future!

Sho was extremely skilled and passionate. He was so patient with us and so informative. We went away with much more than learning how to make udon. He taught us about how to spot real ingredients and shared his secrets with us. Lessons that are far more valuable than just learning how to make a dish. He made our trip to Osaka extremely enjoyable!

The class was great and very informative, with plenty of knowledge to take away from every component of the process. As a home chef, I found that this class was a perfect contribution and the instruction did not fall short of his chemical engineering background.

I am not really a fan of Japanese food but my aunt took me to this cooking class and made me love it from start to finish! I dont even understand the terms but i was able to appreciate all the learnings the chef taught us. It was a fun learning experience. I got to wear traditional Japanese robes and it looked so cute. We made Udon from scratch and more. Sho created a perfect ambience for the workshop with a lively table setting for lunch. We all had a sumptuous lunch. I did not expect that i will be able to make a great tasting Japanese food! Thumbs up to Sho!

It was wonderful meeting Sho & learning how to make Udon. The class was a fun, concise & effective one. Sho created a perfect ambience for the workshop with a lively table setting for lunch. What was made & cooked was delicious. However, no sake (which should have been included as was stated in the advert) was served with the lunch. Very inspired to continue making it at home.

We loved sho and he was super easy to contact during the reservation process. He is very smart and understands everything there is to know about udon which made our class super informative and fun. We can’t wait to try it at home!

My friend and I joined Sho's class during our stay in Osaka, and we enjoyed. Sho has studied at culinary school before and he is knowledgeable on Japanese food. The class is fun, and the Udon making process is actually easier than I thought, and I am sure everyone can handle it. We will definitely join his class again when we visit Osaka!

What an amazing experience ! We cooked in family, with 2 children (7 and 9). We learned how to make udon. Sho was so nice, and such a great teacher. We arrived 30 minutes too late, because we got lost with our car, but he waited for us so nicely. We were very welcome, and our meal was very good. We plan to cook it at home now ! Sha is a good chef, likes pure food& that was just wat we were looking for. We felt really welcome with the beautiful setting of the table, the warm hospitality of Sho & his wife & the nice dish he teached us to make.

Sho was very kind and knowledgeable. We made Udon noodles from scratch and it was so fun! I wish the class were a little bit more hands-on for the other recipes as well. The tempura, the seasonings, the dashi, etc was all pre-made, so if we hadn't asked in detail, we wouldn't know how to recreate them at home. That said, I would definitely recommend the class to any foodies visiting Osaka :)
