Love Chiang Mai Cooking School is in Hang Dong, a countryside town that is about a 20 minute drive away from Chiang Mai city. Lin is the local expert on Lanna cuisine (Northern Thai food) and Thai cuisine. As a child, she learned her way around the kitchen by helping her mother prepare food and desserts that they sold in the local market. She started her cooking school in 2014 with her passion for cooking and sharing Lanna and Thai food.
In the school you will be welcomed by the organic garden and the open-air cooking style. Your cooking class may include dishes such as Keng Dang (Red Curry), Pad Ki Maow (Drunken noodles stir fry, Fried banana, Keng Lieng (Mix vegetable spicy soup), Keng Panang (Pork Curry). You may learn more about how to make fresh coconut milk and sticky rice.
Your host will pick you up from your Chiang Mai hotel, then continue to a local market with numerous fruit, vegetable and meat stalls. At the market she will explain how the ingredients that you will later use in your cooking class are used in the Thai cuisine and she will show you how to choose the ingredients from the market.
After finishing the local market tour, we will head to the cooking school. It's about 20 minutes south of Chiang Mai city. On the way you will pass by the local communities surrounded by rice fields and fruit orchards that will give you a view of how Chiang Mai locals live.
Next, we start cooking with 4 recipes and 1 dessert. You will learn how to cook Thai food with local cooks and sharing Chiang Mai cultural at the same time.
You get to eat everything you cook, hot coffee, tea and water are included. A recipes book will be provided for you to take home. Then your host will take your back to your hotel.
