So authentic, educational and intimate. A group of about 10-12 travelers from across the states and Europe were brought together by Lily to teach us all about the Mexican heritage and way of cooking. The food was incredible too! Would do it again and again. 10/10 recommend.
We had such an incredible time in this class. It was such a pleasure getting to know Lily and spending some time cooking together.
Lily welcomed us into her beautiful home to show us how to cook authentic mexican food, and everything about the experience was amazing! The food was delicious, and lily gave wonderful explanations and demonstrations of everything too, complete with great music. 10/10 would recommend. She made us feel like family!
I wish I could rate this more than 5 stars! My husband and I had the best time doing this cooking class. Lily was warm and welcoming, and we learnt so much about Mexican food. We enjoyed getting our hands dirty and making tortillas. We were so full afterwards, stuffing ourselves with the tacos, quesadillas and salsas that we made.
The class was great from start to finish. Lily was warm and friendly, and knew her stuff. The whole class was beautifully organized, from the transportation to and from her beautiful home to the effective rhythm of the food preparation. We all got to do things (slice shrimp, make corn tortillas, fold quesadillas, and more), and then we all ate the food together. It was fun, and the food was delicious.
The cooking class with Lilly was GREAT! Lilly was so sweet and made each participant feel at home in her house. The house where the cooking class was held was super nicely decorated and we only cooked with fresh ingredients of high quality. The food at the end was delicious! If you don't tolerate spiciness so well, let Lilly know - she will then take it into consideration and warn you if something might be too spicy ;) While cooking, Lilly told us a lot about the culture and food in Yucatan. Her very nice staff always took over some easy steps while cooking, so we could also drink a glass of wine in peace and talk. Absolute recommendation for this great course, do not miss!
Highly highly recommend this class! Was super fun and we learned a lot. Not to miss!
Really great experience, we were looking for something to do on a potentially rainy day and more relaxed and this was definitely the best choice! We made tortillas, tacos, salsa, guac, soup, flan, and much of it was better than what we had in restaurants! Great way to spend a few hours of your time at Tulum. Each class seems to be for around 7-10 people
The cooking class was great and so was the company. It was awesome to learn about the ingredients that go into our food and the history of Mexico. It's interesting to learn that we typically make things the wrong way and supplement our ingredients since we don't have access to the ingredients that natives do. Lily and her son are great people, are extremely inviting and it was great to get to know others that were cooking with us. We had a few drinks and turned from strangers into a big family.
Lily and her crew are so awesome. They make you feel like family and so welcome in the home. The time flies and you learn so much about Mexican culture and cuisine in just a few hours. The menu is simple, but delicious, and we had a blast. The drinks and food were flowing, we laughed and danced, and had a great time!
Loved the the history of the region. The detail taken to make true Mayan dishes. Loved market we where taken through. Would do it again. Hands on cooking with Lilly was a true Mexican experience. Her kitchen is equipped with authentic Mexican cooking equipment. Loved it.
It was a great cooking class. We felt like home when we arrived and we cooked the best mexican food. We would totally do it again when we go back. We highly recommend this class.
From the first moment we arrived at Lily's house, we were welcomed as if we were family. What Lily offers is not just a cooking class, it's a total immersion in her story. Recipes from her childhood with her mother and grandmother to the story surrounding some of the most authentic dishes of Mexican and Mayan cuisine, Lily is an inspiration and we haven’t seen the time passed as it was so captivating! Whether it was by learning how to make handmade tortilla, tasting mezcal the traditional way or all the wonderful dishes we've cooked, our experience was perfect. All the dishes were so tasty, we can’t wait to redo them at home to remind us of this unforgettable moment! We also fell in love with Canello, the rescue dog of Lily who is a true fan of quesadilla;)! If you want to taste real Mexican food and live an authentic culinary moment, you must definitely take Lily's cooking class.
Lily was the best hostess ever. She is so gracious & kind; she is a fantastic representative of her culture.
It was a very relaxed event, lots of getting to know the group and host over a few beers. The cooking class was more informal in style but this made it rather fun. The highlights were making corn tortillas from scratch and the delicious salsas. The end of the day felt rather rushed, while we were still eating the food we were told the taxis were waiting outside. The host had great local knowledge and was very enthusiastic about Mexican cuisine and culture. Would recommend.
I went with my husband to learn some simple Mexican recipes we could take back to Europe. Lily and her family were really welcoming and we had an enjoyable evening. Lily explained about Mexican ingredients and cooking styles in a knowledgable yet fun style. We would really recommend to anyone.
Lily and her family were gracious, welcoming, and wonderful hosts. Lily was funny and humble. She took the time to go through the historical background of everything that was made and every ingredient we used. Her son Alex and his girlfriend Paola were super nice and welcoming as well. Lily chose a menu that would be easily recreatable back home and she promised to email all recipes and even Skype is if something didn't make sense. Amazing hospitality!
