Phuket Thai Cooking Class by VJ

Explaining clearly all the steps, what we could substitute at home if we couldn’t find authentic fresh ingredients. Everything was so smooth - hotel pick up/drop off and cooking experience. Definitely do not have breakfast … so much food! We loved the comment that “you’re on vacation, so are the calories”! It was fun and delicious.

I don’t know where to even start with this tour…but I guess I can say this is the absolute BEST cooking class I have done. I have travelled many countries around the world, and almost always do at least one cooking class….this class tops them all. You actually get to learn techniques, cook your own dishes with modifications to your desire. The organization and sanitation was incredible. The market tour was a nice beginning touch (if you choose).

The instructor was personable and gave clear instructions, introducing each of the ingredients to us. The assistants were all super helpful too, giving careful guidance throughout. I also did the market tour which was fun, had the chance to taste a few different fruits while there. I did the class solo and would definitely recommend it to others.

They were very kind and fun. We cooked great popular dishes. The curry we made was awesome! It’s very photo/video friendly. A must-try experience. Don’t worry about it being “too touristy…” it does not feel like that at all. It is really great. Highly recommend.

I just completed an incredible cooking class led by the amazing Chef Gigi and her fantastic assistant Nid, and I can honestly say it was one of the best cultural experiences I’ve had in Thailand. From start to finish, Gigi and her team were energetic, engaging, and incredibly organized. You could feel their passion—not just for food, but for making sure every guest had a memorable and hands-on experience. We learned how to cook four authentic Thai dishes: Yum Yum soup, Petite Petite (a spicy stir fry with bold flavors), rich and flavorful Panang Curry, and the absolute showstopper—pineapple sticky rice. Each dish was thoughtfully explained, and we were guided through every step with patience and enthusiasm. What really stood out was how hard Gigi and Nid worked behind the scenes—constantly prepping, assisting, and keeping the energy high in the room. They made everyone feel welcome and confident in the kitchen, regardless of skill level. If you’re in Thailand and looking to dive into Thai cuisine in a fun, personal, and truly delicious way—this is the class to take. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Five stars all the way. The market tour was very informative and the fruit we tried was all so good. Even got to sample some durian which I had been wanting to do. All the food we cooked tasted amazing and it really wasn’t complicated. The staff are all helpful and helped make the experience amazing.

We prepared three classic Thai dishes: • Tom Yum Soup • Pad Thai • Thai Curry (with a choice between green or red) The instructors were friendly, knowledgeable, and explained everything step by step. One of the best parts was that we got to cook all the dishes ourselves, which made the experience even more fun and memorable. In addition, we learned how to make the iconic Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. Watching the process and then tasting the final result was a perfect way to end the session. Overall, the experience was fantastic. The class was well-organized, the recipes were delicious, and the staff made us feel welcome and supported the whole time. Highly recommended!

From learning about different herbs and spices, vegetables and fruit at the local market, plus 10 minutes to shop for our own personal goods, to our hands-on cooking, we learnt so much about Thai culinary. Loved the smaller size of the class - we had 10 in all. And the fact that there were some helpers on hand. Loved the fact that we consumed our food between each course. This would also be an ideal experience for a family to do as well. If there was to be a negative in our entire experience it would be that we probably felt slightly rushed at times. But we certainly fitted a lot in during our 3 hours. - market tour - Tom Yum Soup - pad Thai - Panang Chicken (or tofu) - sticky mango rice pudding (partially already prepared) A few options were offered for vegans and vegetarians. GiGi was a great host and the meals we made were incredible. Market tour and fruit tasting were fab. So much thought put into the experience and suitable for all levels and dietary requirements.

Great fun! We cooked 4 dishes, its ideal for both beginners and experienced cooks. Easy to follow and so authentic.

My husband who doesn’t cook had a blast at this very well run cooking class! Learned a lot at the market and bought spices to bring home. Don’t eat before you come - you will make 3 meals pleas sweet sticky rise for dessert!

The class was informative, so as the market tour. VJ’s english is good, and everybody can join the class. I have learned so much, and is so ready to go home and cook more thai food 😃

VJ was a great host and explained everything really well. She provided lots of information on the ingredients and all the tips and tricks. Her kitchen was modern and super clean. We made red & green curry's as well as a stir-fry and dessert. Really good fun and the class was just 6 people.

Der Kochkurs mit VJ war super! Wir zwei haben mit einer Familie aus London teilgenommen. Wir haben 4 Gerichte gekocht, einige der Zutaten haben wir vorher auf dem Markt gekauft. VJ hat Thailändische Lebensmittel gezeigt, bei einigen auch europäische Ersatzmöglichkeiten genannt. Die Küche war supersauber, VJ und ihre Kolleginnen standen unaufdringlich mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Jetzt kochen wir in Deutschland nach!

I am not much of a cook myself, but VJ’s class was so much fun. From starting at the market to doing the preparation and cooking, VJ provided just the right amount of detail and instruction and also free time for enjoying our meals and socializing. The curry we made was INCREDIBLE as well as all of the other food as well. It was awesome to learn about all the different ingredients at the market and then learn how to use them in authentic Thai cooking. Highly recommend to anyone in the Phuket area! Prior cooking experience not required.

We had an amazing morning! First we went to the market and we got some really good tips and explanation about the most common herbs, vegetables, meat & fish in Thai cuisine. Then we went to the cooking school and we got the chance to prepare 4 dishes by ourselves. Really nice, learned a lot and all the ladies at the cooking school were really friendly and helpful, definitely recommend!
