Megumi is a very kind and open person, we felt very comfortable with her. She warmly welcomed us into her home, where we learned a lot about Japanese cuisine and culture. The food was incredibly delicious, and we had a wonderful conversation. Overall, we had a fantastic evening and learned a lot!
The overall experience was great!! It was amazing to learn from scratch how to cook the sushi rice to how to prepare the final dishes. I loved being able to experience Japanese culture as a vegan. Totally recommend learning to prepare sushi with Meg!
My husband and I had an absolutely amazing time taking this gyoza class. Meg was a wonderful host and a great teacher, and we enjoyed chatting with her so much! The gyoza came out so tasty- we can’t wait to make it again when we return home. Thank you for everything, Meg! We’ll see you at the next class.
The four of us booked the cooking class and received a very warm welcome from Meg in her small kitchen. Everything was perfectly prepared, and we could get started right away. Meg gave excellent instructions and explanations about the ingredients and umami flavors. We prepared two fillings for the giozas, which were steamed and fried. There was also a noodle soup, which is very quick to make at home and was absolutely delicious. We ate traditionally on the floor in the upstairs room. The recipes were also sent out very quickly after the class. All in all, a very successful evening! Many thanks to Meg for her open, positive, and cheerful personality :-) Our only suggestion for the booking platform: a small discount for booking four people would be appreciated.
We immediately felt right at home, as Meg created such a welcoming atmosphere. Her knowledge and tips on making vegan sushi were very helpful. We really enjoyed the cooking class and are really grateful that we had the chance to meet Meg during our trip to Japan. The food was so delicious that we went home not only happy and with full stomachs, but also with full hearts. If we had stayed in Tokyo any longer, we would have booked another cooking class with her right away. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience and for introducing us to Japanese culture.
The class was great. Megumi is an excellent teacher and a wonderful person, and of course a great chef! The food was delicious, the space is very comfortable and beautyful. I highly recommend this class for anyone who wants to learn more about Japanese cooking.
Meg was so lovely and a great teacher. The food was incredible and she provided lots of great recommendations for the rest of our time in Tokyo.
So much fun! A great class for any level. I can't wait to get home and impress my friends and family with these recipes! Megumi is super nice and a great instructor.
Whether you're visiting Japan or you're a local, I'd recommend Meg's classes in a heartbeat. She's created the kind of experience every food and culture lover dreams of - that's to say, not only does she give funny and detailed demonstrations on how to make several delicious dishes alongside the philosophy that accompanies them (which is harder to cook up at home :p), but she's also created a safe and welcoming space for the exchange of hearts, culture, and ideas - which for me at least are among the things I cherish not just in 'life', but in cooking as well :D
Meg welcomed us into her home and was such a lovely host. So friendly and knowledgeable, we loved the whole experience. She walked us through the recipes for 2 types of gyoza fillings which were both super yummy and easy to recreate at home (hopefully!). We loved the personal touches including where we might find ingredients at home and recommendations for vegan restaurants in Tokyo. We finished the evening eating our creations tatami style - lots of fun! Highly recommend this class for great food, great company and an introduction to Japanese cooking. Thank you Meg! ☺️
Had an amazing time with Meg, very friendly. Great english and general knowledge of many customs. Great experience to learn traditional sushi being traditionally made. But also very tasty.
Meg was super welcoming and her character and approach made this experience truly memorable! We loved to have a local vegan sushi experience and can now eat like that at home as often as we want!! How great! If in Tokyo you HAVE TO visit Meg in her beautiful home and cook together! This is a class where you learn about background and ingredients a lot and cook a little with an awesome outcome!
Megumi’s warmth and expertise made the class both fun and easy to follow. She’s a patient, encouraging teacher, and her passion for plant-based cooking is inspiring. After preparing everything together, we sat down to enjoy the delicious sushi. It tasted absolutely wonderful! We left not only with full stomachs and happy hearts, but also the confidence to recreate it at home. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to explore vegan cooking in a welcoming setting!
Meg was a great instructor, patient, kind, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about everything she was teaching me about. (And also had some great tips for my trip as we did the class on the same day I landed in Tokyo.) I even got to take some leftovers with me for breakfast the next day :) I'm so glad I took this class and will definitely take Meg's other class next time I'm in town!
This vegan sushi class was great. The class was very personal and fun. The sushi tasted great. 100% recommend!
Really enjoyed the class. Our instructor was wonderful. She helped us understand all the tips required to make a perfect sushi.
Meg, herself she is a wonderful person. She has a nice aura, great energy. Her cute place was kind of soothing as well. We did lots of cooking and talking. We shared each other’s experiences. It was a Sunday evening well spent for me🌸
We had a wonderful time with Meg, who taught us how to cook ingredients for a hand roll sushi. The food was delicious and so flavorful, and Meg was such great company to have. Her home is welcoming and she is a kind host. Would recommend to anyone in Japan for their trip for an authentic experience!
I thought I knew a lot about Japanese cooking, but I discovered simple, important techniques I’ll keep using. As a vegan, it’s rare to find Japanese cooking classes, but Meg made everything easy to understand and full of fresh, healthy recipes. She was like bright sunshine—warm, clear, and inspiring. I’d love to learn more recipes with her again! 💗
I had such an enjoyable time learning how to make vegan sushi. Meg is a wonderful, kind and helpful teacher. The food we cooked was delicious! I highly recommend joining this class as you’ll have so much fun and leave with recipes and inspiration. Thank you Meg!
This class was an absolute highlight of my trip. We made Chilled Tantan noodlesand two different types of gyoza fillings and got to try steaming, pan-frying, and air-frying them (which makes a huge difference) - all under the guidance of Meg, who is not only a brilliant chef but also a fantastic teacher. Her passion and authenticity really made the experience special. I’ve taken many cooking classes around the world, and this one stands out as one of my favourites. If I weren’t leaving Tokyo so soon, I’d be signing up for another class in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!
The class was very nice and easy to follow. The instructors are very friendly and since it is a very small class (<4 people) they are always available to help. The recipes and cooking techniques were explained well and the instructor gave many helpful tips. After cooking you get to enjoy the food in a nice tatami room. All the different gyoza types and the tantanmen turned out delicious. We definitely recommend this class to anyone that wants to learn to cook gyoza.
Every dish was packed with umami! I used to think vegan sushi would be bland, but this experience completely changed my mind—in the best way! I joined with my American husband, who usually loves meat. Surprisingly, he absolutely loved the food and now keeps making it at home! The nigiri sushi-making was so fun—even as a Japanese person, I’d never tried it before! It was a totally new and joyful experience. Temaki sushi was a highlight! It was so much fun to create our own hand rolls with our favorite toppings.
I joined it with my daughter and she also had really fun. It was interesting because usually I would eat Sushi with fish but it was all vegetable but was still very fulfilling, and very healthy. So I would choose this one of the options to cook daily.
The best vegan cooking class you'll ever experience in your life. If you don't come to the next one, I'm gonna be so sad for your taste buds because your taste buds are missing out on the greatest delicious food that you will learn to make. Trust me.
The process of making them felt like a mindfulness practice — focusing on my five senses really cleared my mind. Everything was simple to make, and the ingredients are easy to find at any grocery store, so I’ve been repeating the recipes a lot since the class. I also found it fascinating to learn about traditional Japanese ingredients and how they’re used to enhance umami flavor without using any meat.
Actually it was my first time to join the cooking class in my life, and it's the BEST thing that I ever had! I've never had vegan food before, but it feels even tastier than usual one! I felt very thankful for a lot of love from all of everyone putting into the meals, so I am very happy joining here and love to come back again!
This is my second time here, and just like before, it was the best vegan cooking experience ever — even better than any Michelin-starred meal. You can’t find anything like this anywhere else in the world — you have to come to TOKYO VEG KITCHEN. It’s absolutely amazing. You’ll cleanse your soul with pure, delicious, organic, and healthy food straight from the earth. Thank you so much, Meg, for having me. Arigato!
