The cooking class with Heeyoung was the best cooking class we had in Asia. The atmosphere was relaxed, and we felt very welcome from the beginning. Her English is on point, and before we even started cooking, we learned a lot about Korean cuisine. In advance of the cooking class, she contacted us to organize our meals vegetarian. She even responded to our wishes. It was a very delicious day, and we had a lot of fun. We highly recommend the course!
Heeyeong was a wonderful host. From the get go, she was super friendly and just lovely to chat with. We spent some time drinking tea before cooking, chatting about our different cultures, her incredible life experience travelling and her journey of sharing Korean cuisine to people. She made AMAZING food (we helped but weren't very good) and everything was so relaxed and simple, not rushed. The lunch was superb homecooked food followed by a lovely tea ceremony and tangerines from Jeju. We went to the nearby Market thereafter, and the store owners were so friendly showing us their produce (not trying to sell anything, just hospitable lovely people), and Heeyeong kindly translated for us. We overran the original schedule but Heeyeong was so sweet and hospitable and even gave us her Whatsapp if we had any questions for food recommendations, and even sends us the recipes for the food we made for lunch. Definitely recommending this to friends and family. You'll come for a cooking class but leave with a deeper, warm connection to the Busan culture and people.
It was such a special time! As much an experience in the joy / approach to cooking as it was a lesson. We started with a taste test of homemade vs store-bought ingredients, guessing which was which and discussing their differences. This was a fabulous foundation to a deep exploration of different flavors and techniques that was too come. Not too simple (for example: I could have just used a cookbook and made this!) and not too complex (for example: this was fun, but I’ll never come close to recreating this!), it was a perfect balance that gives me new excitement and tips for folding this into my cooking back home. Included helpful tips for alternative ingredients that may be easier to find elsewhere. Followed by a tasty meal of our cooking, a tea ceremony and a tour of the market which inspired me to try some new things. Great discussion of Korean history and her family background throughout. Highly recommend for solo travelers, couples (my experience) or families alike!
One of the best cooking classes we have ever taken! The instructor was knowledgeable, friendly and fun! Beyond the cooking, the tea ceremony was lovely and the market tour was very educational. Heeyoung definitely went above and beyond. We had a great time!
Heeyoung was a great teacher for our class. She is very welcoming and friendly. We learned so much about cooking seafood and can’t wait to try it on our own!
Heeyoung is the perfect teatcher for this training. It was easy to learn and a very good moment with the tea also.
Excellent course, the price a little expensive, I will liked a market tour was better before cooking. Thank you
Thanks Heeyoung! I had such a great time doing your cookery class! It was great from start to finish. I was lucky because I was the only person there that day, so it was 1:1! It was the best meal I'd had in South Korea - 4 different dishes. Scrumptious fresh local produce. Really nice environment in Heeyoung's studio & she's so friendly. I was really wowed at the local market too & interested in everything on sale! It came to an end too soon ... ha ha!
This was truly a treat to cook and chat with Heeyoung. The food was delicious and the studio was even more spectacular. Thank you for spending the afternoon with us!
Well explained how to prepare and cook the dishes. Loved the clean environment and friendly atmosphere. So impressed that she was very good in English(what a relief!)
I loved relaxed nature of class being able to talk about life
Great way to spend time learning more about local food, customs+area. I can't wait to re-create these dishes for my friends.
Ended the weekend with an amazing Busan cooking class to learn about traditional Buan cuisines and drinks. The owner was so kind and knew many things about food and cooking. Also, she shared us the history of her entrepreneurship and passion for local food and culture. So worth the time and the food was amazing. Her energy was encouraging new students and the space was very beautiful
I liked everything! It was great to hear the explanation and variation for the dishes, and the amount of hands-on time was just right! Thank you so much for creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and teaching so interesting dishes!
Thank you for a wonderful experience. You made everything so simple and easy to understand.
The cooking studio is just a minute's walk from the metro station. Very easy to find. It is beautifully decorated and very clean. Hee Young was very friendly and approachable. Her instructions were very clear and the menu is easy to follow. The dishes learned can be easily replicated when I'm back home as the ingredients are simple or can be readily modified. My kids had lots of fun. We felt like we were cooking in a friend's home. Lots of warmth and good cheer. Enjoyed tea and market visit after cooking. A great family activity for bonding when on holiday.
10 out of 10. Thank you for a wonderful experience. You made everything so simple and easy to understand.
