The Alantara Sanur Hotel

Got picked up to be taken to our cooking course, was a private session. On arrival received some drinks. Chef and assistant were great guys, and we had fun. Making some amazing dishes (menu 3) I probably, would not have tried before and are now looking forward to trying at home, they were delicious. The 2 hours goes quickly.... Yes we have the recipes...The whole resort team were very friendly. Would recommend as you learn so much..and have fun.

We had a unique , couple cooking class. It was throughly informative with information of all the ingredients and cooking we were about to do. The staff were exceptional, all of them but in particular Alit the head chef of the Alantara was so good and helpful explaining everything as we cooked. The dishes we produced were sensational and you get to experience them all at the end of the class. I would highly recommend anyone wanting to learn the basics of Indonesian cooking and it was great fun. 5 stars no question

Our cooking class was so well organised, with beautiful fresh ingredients and our Chef Made was lovely and very knowledgeable. Our Balinese menu produced a fantastic meal which we really enjoyed sitting down and eating at the end. This is a fun class to do in couples or with teenagers, very hands on and really enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Really good lesson. Chief is very kind and helpful. He explained everything from ingredients to cooking methods. The lesson doesn’t take too long. It is well organized and you can start immediately with preparation and cooking

I went with four kids, ages 13-19. they all loved the class (even though two of them are really picky). The staff was great and very welcoming. We had a request to change the dessert and they accommodated this! They no longer do the marked tour and some of the vegetables were pre cut, but we learned a lot. The class + dining experience lastet for a total of 3 hours. The location was really nice and we felt well taken care of. The driver was on time when picking us up and he spoke better English than most native in Bali.

From start to finish the cooking class was brilliant! The chef could not have been better, so skilled and knowledgeable, he also went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed the experience. We received print outs of the menu and recipes to use at home and the chef gave us alternative ingredients for things we may not be able to get at home. The recipes were pitched just right, not over complicated but impressive and delicious. We will definitely be trying them at home. Would highly recommend this experience.

I loved the whole experience. I had two delightful chefs teaching me, Made and Aori (I think that is her name. Apologise to her if it is not). I observed and participated. A wonderful experience in exceptional surroundings. kind regards Carolina Carraro

Madi, our chef was very friendly and gave descriptions and detail of all the ingredients and cooking processes we used during the class. We participated in everything and enjoyed great food.

Made, the chef, gave us a great experience with a 4 course meal. We thoroughly enjoyed learning how the various ingredients and flavours worked together. E selected the “healthy” menu which was a great choice. Thanks to all at Alantara.

Interesting take on a cooking class. Would be enjoyable if part of a small group to share in the experience.

Gave the class as a present to my parents who were visiting Indonesia. The organisation was perfect, the people very friendly, the location beautiful and the food original and tasteful. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic time with Made and Alec, they are both wonderful hosts and loads of fun. Highly recommend!

Chef Alit is very good at giving instructions and is kind to our children. The recipes are very tasty and we learned in a very fun and nice way how to cook Balinese meals. The ambiance of the place was also very good.

We booked the class very spontaneous one day in advance. It was very well organised. First we visit a local market with our Chef de cuisine Agung. We got some interesting information about local food, herbs, funny looking vegetables like the "long beans" and tried a lot of special Indonesian candies. After that we got a shuttle back to the hotel and had an amazing cooking class. Agung is a super nice personality with a lot of knowledges of traditional Indonesian dishes. Our class took around 2,5hrs. We enjoyed the class and the dinner.

Yesterday we had a wonderfull cookingclass with a very enthousiastic chef, who learned us a lot about Balinese cooking. And afterwards it tasted very well! Yesterday I already rated the cookingclass on Tripadvisor from the hotel. Nobody could tell me where and how I could make a review. Tineke Beukers and Gerry van Loon
