We had a lovely time at the cooking class. Great to purchase all the ingredients and then make everything from scratch. Kawtar & Khmisa are amazing
We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class, it was good to go out to the market and pick up all the ingredients . We all took turns to chop and prepare the food and the dishes turned out beautifully. Only thing missing is the recipes which they said they were going to send to us by email but which never transpired- a shame as it would be nice to have them.
We really enjoyed our cooking class, we had a fun group to cook with and the explanations during cooking were interesting and helpful - to cap it all off, the meal we got to share together at the end was delicious!
The cooking class with the marvelous hosts Kawtar and Chef Khmisa was just wonderful. Besides the amazing food we prepared together with a group of people coming from three different countries, the hospitality and heartiness of our hosts - who invited us inside their home for the class - were just outstanding! Highly recommended!
Chef and her auntie were wonderfully warm and patient. I am a non-cook and I learned so much. I'm home now and have even tried some of the recipes. That's amazing. Highly recommend this class.
My husband and I joined a group of 9 other travelers and were greeted by Kawtar outside the mosque. It was our first visit to Dar El Bacha and the area had a calming presence to it just outside of the main hub we were staying at. It was an excellent group, and we learned many recipes we can now create with a greater understanding of the widely used spices in Moroccan cooking. Khmisa was so welcoming when we arrived at the Riad, and the warmth never ended throughout the day. Thank you!
What a fantastic few hours, cooking food that totally changed what I thought a tangine was! Khmisa & Katie were both so friendly and it was not only a great learning experience, it was such a good laugh too. Felt totally welcomed in their home and by the end of the 3 hours, they felt like family! It was possibly the best bit of our weekend away.
Wonderful experience! Our hostesses were lovely. Great international group. I have recommended this cookery course to our hotel owner.
Chef Khisma is the best, we met near the market to do some shopping first. Afterwards we went to their family house to cook several typical Moroccan dishes. All in a very warm familiar atmosphere. Everyone can join this class, it's the perfect mix of having fun, learning stuff, having something to do, and enjoying Moroccan life to the max. Don't skip this class if you are in Marrakesh.
We had an excellent time at the cooking school. There were 9 of us with a mixture of nationalities. We went to choose the food in the market first then headed back to their house where we cooked 2 courses. Both chefs were knowledgeable and it was hands-on for everyone. The results were 3 delicious starters, 2 main courses, and a dessert, which was more constructed than cooked. It was a wonderful way to spend a morning away from the hustle and bustle of the Medina. We would highly recommend this cookery class. The only negative is that we were directed to an incorrect meeting point although this wasn't the fault of the cookery school. It was quickly sorted and we went the following day.
Mrs khmisa and her niece are very friendly. I had asked them for a certain dish the night before which they don't usually make and to my surprise they put it on the menu and it turned out delicious. The class is inside Mrs khmisa's home which is quite simple but they taught us about different spices and moroccon ingredients and we actually cooked really delicious food. What was most amazing was the experience itself and meeting foodies from all over the world and sitting down in her living room afterwards to eat the amazing meal. A truly memorable experience.
We loved meeting to shop for our ingredients. We were each assigned different veggies to pick out at the market as we made our way from stall to stall, finding all the right things to make our meal! After a very short walk, we came to Khmisa’s aunt’s house where her aunt was waiting with hugs for everyone! The class was hands-on and very interactive. We made, and poured, our tea the Moroccan way…up up up. The group was fun, Khmisa and her aunt were amazing…the whole experience was fantastic!
We had an amazing afternoon at Kawtar and Khmisa’s class. They were both so welcoming and we learned a lot about Moroccan cooking. The group was managed very well and everyone had the opportunity to join in. The food was delicious! This was definitely a highlight of our holiday!
Great cooking class from shopping ingredients till eating what you made.
Thank you for that wonderful cooking experience. It was definitely one of my Marrakech highlights. Right after the class I went directly to the Souk and bought a Tagine :) Highly recommended for any food and cooking lovers.
We spend two days in Marrakech and organized the cooking class very spontanously. It took place in a nice house and Khimsa made everyone participate, which we liked a lot. The cooking made lots of fun and everything was very delicious! So we can recommend the class!
My boyfriend and I joined the cooking class of Khmisa in september 2019. It was a very pleasant experience. We had the chance to buy the products with the cooking group at the local market, with the needed explanation. After the market, we went to the house to start the cooking class. We made the original Moroccan tea, 4 delicous starters, a tajine (also vegetarian) and a dessert. The dishes were typical Moroccan and very good! We could ask all the questions that we wanted. Khmisa and Kawtar were both very friendly. It was a very good experience during our trip in Morocco! Highly recommended!
Khisma and The other woman who translates everything did a really Nice job. Nice to see how you live in the medina. Food was really good, best tajine in town. It really gave a Morroccan feeling. Only thing to note was that dessert was not so special to cook.
Lovely people, both Khmisa and Kawtar, and our class mates! So nice to be welcomed in their home in the medina.
Khmisa is very fiendly and communicative (although speking mostly Arabic!). Everything was properly translated by her co-worker. The work is not much intensive (would expect more work from our side) but generally enough to understand the concept of Moroccan cooking. Meeting new people and having dinner together is a big plus of the experience.
We were a mixed group of 6, 4 teens and 2 adults and it was good fun. We did all the chopping and preparation ... and the eating... in the dining room, leaving the chef to put the pressure cooker and tagines on the stove in the kitchen. Started with a walk to the local sellers to buy bread and vegetables. The chef couldn't speak english but was accompanied by a well spoken and friendly young women who acted as guide, host and interpreter.
Very well organized, everything we cooked was delicious. Very nice atmosphere, the instructor is local, warm and very experienced. The class was happy and dinamic and we enjoyed very much. And all the written recipes arrived on the same evening to my mobile. Kawtar was great and very efficient.
It was the first time, that I participate to a cooking session. I will keep a really good memories. Naïma and Salma were our chief. They are doing their job with passion and enthusiasm. I joined a little group from different cultures and we were together 5 persons. We learned first how to make a tea. Then 4 kind a salads, and finally a tajine of meat balls. We enjoy all together the lunch. I particularly loved also the way how the course was introduced, because we go all together to the market to choose all the goods needed for the dishes. I spent really good time. Naïma and Salma, I wish you a lot of success and continue like that, because you show us the true value of marocain culture.
I’m happy with cooking class. I was lucky to have very nice travellers sharing experience with me. I got the class what I expected: cooking, relaxing hanging out and afterwards recipes. This was my first cooking class abroad ever so I cannot compare it with anything. Anyway I have no big complaints, so I can recommend this. :)
