One of the most unique and cultural experiences you can do while in Saigon. This is something I will never forget. Not only do you get to cook amazing food in a family’s home, but you get to see how the locals live.
Kevin and Cassy were such careful drivers that we were able to enjoy every minute of the bike ride to and from Auntie's house. They took us on a walk through the local food market, and taught us a few useful Vietnamese phrases, so that we could take part in purchasing the food. Many of the local residents said hello as we walked past their homes. Kevin and his overseas guests are well known and welcomed in the neighborhood. The manager of the market came and introduced herself to us. Kevin's auntie is a skilled cook and successful business woman. She cooks for about 50 people every day. Everyone seems to be repeat customers from the local shops and offices. We helped Auntie prepare and cook a delicious range of dishes, and then we enjoyed a great meal together. We had the opportunity to ask Kevin lots of questions about his life and his family.
If you’re looking for an authentic and unique cooking experience in Ho Chi Minh City, look no further. Auntie’s Cooking Class offers a genuine cultural insight into the rich history and culinary traditions of Vietnam, specifically Ho Chi Minh City. Kevin was well-organized, accommodating, and ensured everything ran smoothly. Communication throughout was excellent. Alex and Kelsey were warm, knowledgeable guides who made us feel truly welcome, they even surprised my husband with a birthday cake! Auntie’s food was absolutely delicious, and learning from her was both a highlight and a privilege.
At Auntie Cooking Class, you’ll be guided by a local home cook who has spent more than five decades perfecting hundreds of authentic Vietnamese dishes.
This isn’t just a cooking class — it’s a heartfelt journey into the real soul of Vietnam. Your experience begins with a visit to a hidden local market — far from tourist crowds — where you’ll shop for fresh ingredients, learn the names of herbs and vegetables in Vietnamese, and interact with friendly local vendors.
It’s a cultural immersion wrapped in flavor. Back at Auntie’s humble kitchen, you’ll cook side-by-side with her using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Together, you’ll laugh, learn, and create dishes filled with stories and love.
Finally, you’ll sit down and enjoy everything you’ve cooked as a real Vietnamese family would — gathered around the table, sharing food and memories. More than just food — it’s family, culture, and Vietnam in every bite.
