Incredible experience and delicious food! The staff were all amazing and patient and great at what they do. They made the class fun whilst teaching about their Akha culture. I chose this school as you get to learn to cook, assist, watch and most importantly: eat 10 different dishes. Make sure to go hungry as there are multiple breaks to eat every couple of hours! I ended up using their cookbook as a shopping list to buy ingredients. Can't wait to try it at home!
Het personeel was erg vriendelijk en leuk Een aanrader om mee te maken
Nikon was a great host, showed us some Thai secrets and generally was fun to be around. He made sure to accommodate all dietary restrictions and gave us some advice on Thai and Akha Culture. Can only recommend!
On a adoré ce cours de cuisine ! On recommande ! Ming est très gentille
The food we made was very good! The teacher eas really nice and we all had a lot of fun!
It was the first time ever experience and thoroughly enjoyed learning about Thai cuisine.
I wrote a review on TripAdvisor, I woud recomend this class to everyone. Jasmine is a perfect cook/teacher!!
Cooking class was awesome. Good teacher, good food and preparation of the class. Very clean and well-organized.
Great facility. Very organized. Lovely teacher/chef. Excellent evening.
Extremely well organized and efficient. Everyone participates at own station. Instructors cook capable of explaining and demonstrating multiple selected recipes/dishes at same time. Take home great cookbook in both hard copy and digital. Good value and highly recommend.
We had an amazing night with Ming, she was patient, funny and super professional. It was the best night and we made super delicious food ... will come back.
The class was incredibly well organized, the entire team was lovely and very kind. We had lots of fun learning about Thai cuisine!
Was heel goed geleid, met een glimlach. Zou het iedereen aanraden. Een fijne zweer en voor iedereen te volgen. Je maakt echt een goed gerecht. Ook als je niet zo goed bent in de keuken. Een top avond.
We spent a fantastic three hours with others learning about Thai and Akha cooking. The host was warm and welcoming, the instructions were clear, and the food was tasty. All in all a great experience.
We had a very good time visiting the market and cooking lessons with a great teacher Ming. Thank you very much for this good moment.
I attended with two guests who were visiting Chiang Mai. We thoroughly enjoyed our day (we did the morning session). The van collected us at the prearranged point on time and from there the whole day ran seamlessly. We read other reviews and they didn’t have breakfast as there was so much food to cook and eat. The facilities were top class and Jasmine the instructor was excellent. It was a highlight for our guests and tremendous value for money. Thai Akha is the best of the best in Chiang Mai! Book your class and don’t miss out!
I was hesitant about taking a cooking class, but finally, I decided to do it so I don’t regret a thing. The teachers were really nice and helpful, the market experience is something that I needed. The dishes were delicious and the whole thing is definitely worth it. I’m so happy I made the right choice
Jasmin our teacher was fantastic. We booked as a family with 3 children aged 16, 16 and 19. The experience only increased our love for Thai food and the information about the Akha Tribe was interesting. We loved the market trip. The kitchen facilities and setup were amazing. Jasmin was so brilliant even the food that we cooked was amazing and tasted authentic! So glad we read in other reviews beforehand about the volume of food likely to be eaten being huge so we thankfully did not eat breakfast as was advised. All of the other people on our course were friendly and interesting coming from varied backgrounds and different countries. We thoroughly enjoyed this and it unexpectedly turned out to be the highlight of our trip to Chiangmai (was booked as an afterthought for a rainy day). I would definitely do it again and highly recommend it.
The booking process and communication were easy, and we got a confirmation very soon. We had a wonderful experience with Thai Ahka cooking school. Everything was so organised and well planned. We had 11 dishes, and everything was delicious. Great value for money! We even had a printed cookbook to take home. The price on cookly is much better also.
Jasmine was very knowledgeable, patient and very funny. She was great about giving us alternate ingredients and even methods based on ingredient/material availability back home.
It was really enjoyable. I think especially because I love to eat, I appreciated the fact that we got to enjoy 11 dishes. It was fun starting off going through the local market and being shown some of the common Thai ingredients (esp because usually I avoid out of inability to communicate and never knowing how to tell what's good versus bad haha). The cooking class itself was awesome. Despite my own introversion and not being a huge fan of small talk, it was nice interacting with people from different backgrounds, sharing thoughts and some laughs, and just being kind humans to one another. Jasmine was the guide, and she did a splendid job. Other than being funny (to me anyway), she just engaged everyone in such a warm and friendly way, giving clear examples for us to follow, and ensuring everyone was enjoying their dishes. Besides her, there was one silent but consistent worker in the back who diligently accepted our dishes and cleaned them (unfortunately don't know name). Then there was Ming, also diligently working in the background to prepare ingredients for the next dish as we enjoyed a recently made dish as well as giving us ingredients to prepare for the next cooking. I appreciated the 4 breaks we had to enjoy our meals throughout the cooking day. Super appreciative of the cookbook because I'd definitely forget the majority of ingredients and steps to make the yummy meals I somehow made. Overall, I feel like if you just want to enjoy your day, have some laughs, learn a little bit about a culture you might never otherwise, and enjoy yummy food, then you'll really enjoy your time here.
It was a really good experience to be a part of Akha Tribe cooking evening class. We have learnt a lot either about meals or Thai's Chef attitude. I can fully recommend it.
Loved this class! We had a great time and all the food we cooked was so delicious. Niti did a great job making the class engaging and interesting and learned some new tricks in the kitchen that I’ll definitely be taking back home. Highly recommend :)
Corso organizzato benissimo e curato nei minimi dettagli! Super consigliato!
I learned so much, and the farm was so beautiful. The owner was absolutely lovely.
The teacher was so nice and every nutrition would be possible (vegan, vegetarian, allergies, etc.) it was so perfect organized and well explained! It was so much fun and we had a great time! We learned so many dishes! Highly recommended! It was awesome:) thank you so much
We learned a lot of interesting things and how to properly cook delicious Thai food. The host was very nice and the cooking class was a lot of fun
Fantastic! There are so many cooking schools in Chiang Mai but this class covered so many things at a great price. Three of us learned how to make papaya salad, fried spring rolls, three Akha dishes, three curries, three stir fries, three soups, and two desserts. The space is beautiful, the equipment professional, and Niti was so imformative about Thai and Akha culture, but most importantly, technique for perfecting Thai dishes. They provide transport to and from their school. Arrive hungry because the class is well timed with eating breaks of what you make, and you will be cooking a lot of food.
- good atmosphere - nice people - very good dishes - always to be recommended - Martha - excellent guide !
Definitely worth it, 100% reccomend Attended this cooking class with my whole family. Must reccomend even for non-cooks, very well instructed throughout the whole class, amazing work space, lovely instructors and a great cookbook! Market in the morning is a lot of fun, we got to taste everything we wanted and our instructor had an answer to every question we came up with. 5 stars indeed, thank you for this experience, we will never forget it.
Totally recommend!
“J” was an excellent instructor and the class was a lot of fun! Really enjoyed going to the market as well and seeing how the locals shop and prep food. Highly recommend this class!
If you‘re in Chiang Mai you should definitely take an evening class here. We had an awesome experience we will never forget. The instructors are very nice and make sure everybody can keep up and has a good time. Needless to say that the food is extremely delicious!
Merci.
We had an amazing time!!
Everything was well planned from all the ingredients needed for the recipes to the tasting at the end of our course. The teacher was very attentive to our questions and a good communicator. Cleanliness is impeccable in the kitchen. We had chose to walk from our hotel to the school and could not find the place according to the location on the internet site that it was showing us. A correction should be made on this point. We highly recommend this place it was a marvellous experience.
The entire experience was exceptional.
Great class, market trip shedlight on some questions about ingredients, instructor was great communicator and cared, lots of food, good coffee and appreciate the beer available
Wonderful teacher and fun group of students!
We had an incredible time with Thai Akha Kitchen. Our guide was awesome and so good at making sure everyone was on the same page even as people made different dishes at once. The class was also so accommodating to vegetarians as well. We made so much food that all tasted delicious (some of the best of these dishes we’d had yet - and we made them!) so the recipes are phenomenal. Also very cool to learn about and make Akha dishes as well as those are obviously much harder to come across. Would absolutely recommend this class we have no complaints!!
I am an amateur cooker and especially I love Asian cuisine. I have had three Spanish restaurant, two of them Spanish food and third pasta and pizza. Although pelín difficulty with language but I take a great learning and with the new book published in Spanish I already link all terms perfectly, thank you very much for your patience and you have a very good cooking school.
Do not eat before!!! This is the first thing you have to know. You'll eat and taste all your dishes. We've learnt about Thai and Akha cuisines, but also some tricks to cook quickly and good as a chef!! Niti, our teacher is competent, funny, friendly. Even if you don't speak very good English it's totally fine. We really enjoy the class I recommend it to everyone, individual and couples. It is also an opportunity to learn more about Thai culture from local person.
The teacher was very good, teach us Thai food and explain every stage how to do. we realy enjoy. we recive recepies of all the good that we make
We’ve learnt a lot and made several really good dishes from both Thai and Akha kitchen. Delicious! We could choose what we cooked and how spicy which was really fine! Good education
Knowledgeable instructor, fun class, good learning experience, lots of eating.
Loved it!
What a wonderful experience! The kitchen is well designed and safe, the cook speaks perfect English, very clear and patient in explaining all the details of many dishes! A very fun evening!
Really loved this cooking class. J was a good teacher. The recipes weren’t so difficult but really delicious! J explained everything very well, about the ingredients and even about the culture. there was enough space to ask questions. Loved it!
This was a perfect, fun introduction to basic Thai and Akha cooking. Not a lot of techniques, but more an overall introduction (and tasting), so keep that in mind. The instructor was charismatic, clear and personable. A great time to spend an evening in Chiang Mai.
I had the best time at my cooking class - I was travelling alone and so I was very grateful for the taxi pick up and drop off service included in the price! The class itself was amazing the food was incredible and I can't wait to try out some of the recipes I learnt at home! Thank you so much!
The evening class was a great experience. Jay was very knowledgeable and friendly, he did a fantastic job! It was a perfect evening and we all left very full :)
Great class for individuals and/or couples learning to cook. Is too basic for experienced cooks. The food was great. Amazingly organized!!
Our teacher is Jay, he is just so kind and patient, always with a big smile on his face. The way he taught just made the Thai cuisine so easily to access (even for me who's a cooking beginner). And most importantly the dishes is incredibly delicious! We learn some of the Akha tribe culture from him as well, which is really unique. I also love the environment, just warm and cozy. The whole experience from the market tour to the cooking class is great. Highly recommended for those who want to learn to cook Thai food!
I had a lovely evening learning how to make traditional Thai and Akha food. It wa as lovely personalised experience and not only did we make and prepare lots of food we also observed the chef preparing several other dishes. I left absolutely stuffed and even got the recipe and some spices to take home. Great experience!
We really enjoyed the cooking class. The hostess is super competent, very funny and friendly. We learned a lot about the Thai cuisine and generally about the country. You can try everything (or have to :-D) and you are free in choosing your dishes. We learned a lot of dishes and were free in adding ingredients of our choice. We definitely can recommend this class and the amazing hostess!
This cooking class was amazing. It started out by getting picked up in a taxi and heading to a local food market with Niti (our instructor). She walked us around the market, explained local ingredients to us and how they are used and evem bought a few thimgs from different vendors so we could taste them. Once the market tour was done we were taken back to her kitchen where she taught us how to make a few thai appetizers, salads, soups, entrees, and deserts. Would definitely recommend this class to anyone looking to learn more about thai cuisine and actually get experience cooking it.
Me and my boyfriend attended the class in Chiang Mai and couldn’t fault it. The chef was amazing, we cooked 11 dishes each in total - such an amazing variety to choose from and you get a cook book to take home with you as well with every dish available to cook. Such good value for money for the amount of food and effort gone in. Really good cooking school too - we’ve seen some on the side of the streets! If you love to cook it makes such a fun memorable evening.
I did the evening cooking class & it was an amazing experience. The cooking teacher was friendly & very knowledgable. It was a full class, but there was enough room for everyone. We did 11 different dishes & it was a good mixture of salads, curries etc & a lovely introduction to Akha cuisine. A lovely experience to end with!
We started our course in the morning. Niti took us to the fresh market, where we tried typical food and some other things not so adapted to the tourists' tastes. Spoiler alert: try not to think about what you're eating, just try it! Once at the kitchen we prepared the 11 dishes, combining eating them with preparing the next round (some of them were prepared individually and others in group). No time is wasted! Niti is so charming: she makes you feel like home and spreads her pride for the Akha culture by telling little stories about her tribe and their way of living. It was a pleasure sharing this experience, a 100% recommended.
This class was amazing! So much delicious food and the instructor was patient and knowledgeable!
It was a pleasure to participate in cooking class with Thai Akha. Jay was a great teacher and our group was really nice. We cooked 11 dishes - of course with Jay’s help. It was a great opportunity to learn something about Thai cuisine, especially about herbs and spices used in the food.
You make so much food during this class (way too much) which is amazing! Niti was a fun and helpful teacher. She taught us lots of tips about Thai cooking as well as about her tribes' culture. I loved everything about this class except for a few mosquitoes.
It was excellent! So much fun and very informative! We loved it!
Je is a wonderful, talented teacher. He was like a conductor, doing several pieces of music at once. He quickly memorized the various dishes the 12 of us were making, and delivered to us our specialized ingredients just in time. We really liked the way we'd prepare one or two dishes, and then eat them. This allowed us to savor our food and also pace out consuming quite a variety and quantity of foods. Hearing about the Akha people was also very interesting and sobering.
Im glad we did this cooking class as a part of our honeymoon. Sometimes we travel just to see the sights but this was my first time to experience firsthand Thai culture with Akha people. Our day was fun-filled, interactive and insightful. We had traditional coffee tasting, tribe dishes, and a short introduction about their culture. Throughout the day, i saw the depth of culture through their dish and techniques. My husband and i went home with a gift set and with a new perspective in culture.
Very good teacher, nice people, good organasation, much information, 11 dishes cooked and learned how to cook, to much food ;) transport from the hotel
I really enjoyed meeting Peanut at the local market and getting detailed explanations about Thai veggies and fruit. Furthermore, fun started at the beautiful farm just minutes away from Chiang Mai, where my group and I immersed ourselves in a lovely traditional and culinary atmosphere. Last but not least, our dishes were excellent and so yummy! Highly recommendable!
On this evening my girlfriend and me had very nice cooking experience. We learned a few different dishes, even how to make fresh curry paste and springrolls. Our cooking teacher, J, explained everything very well and told us some interesting things about the "Akha"tribe too. I recommend this cooking class to everyone who wants to learn cooking Thai food.
We had a lovely evening where we learned a lot. The chef knew what she was doing and made us very comfortable with her good mood and jokes. The dishes we cooked were very good and we will definitely be trying them at our home town!
Take a bottle of wine or they will be happy to sell you beer there. So much wonderful food. You will not leave hungry.
The course was a really nice attraction during stay in Chiang Mai. The teacher was very friendly.
Thanks to the lovely team at Thai Akha Tribe Cooking school, I enjoyed every aspect of the tour. From visiting the local markets and getting a tour of local delicacies and understanding the types of ingredients locals use for their everyday cooking. I’ve always loved thai food, this class was very informative cooking class with so many dishes to cook and eat, the instructor was lovely, english spoken and a nice little set-up work stations. We had a group of 12 and the dishes were so easy to cook. All jam packed into a half day tour I definitely recommend this cooking class to anyone interested in thai cooking, you get free recipe book of all the dishes, even received a free curry sample pack and a Akha Apron 😊 cant beat that on price anywhere else. Thanks again and hopefully visit again soon. Cheers, Rebecca😄
Everything was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. The market tour was very informative; it was so fun to learn about all the different items and also the items we already use in the U.S. Our guide was very sweet and when she showed us how to cook, she was a delight! Everything we made was so delicious. I really enjoyed taking the cooking class and will do it again the next time I'm in Thailand.
Great teacher, fun small group and very tasty dishes ! Make sure you go with a empty belly 😉👩🍳
Great fun
Everything was just perfect! In total you Cook 10 meals and three of them you can choose what you prefer. Some meals cooked by the group together and some by yourself. The chief was very funny and helpful. Be careful with the “Thai spicy” - a little is for us enough. 😄
This was my second cooking class I took in Thailand and I appreciated the flexibility that this class offered. The teacher adjusted the recipes because I am a vegetarian, and everyone in the class is also able to choose which dishes they want to make. While this option is nice, it did make the classes a little confusing. There were certain directions for specific recipes, so it felt very rushed and I didn’t feel that I learned too much about the ingredients and cooking style. However the food was fantastic and the teacher did a great job! Overall I did enjoy my experience, though I do wish the teacher had spent more time explaining the recipes
Market tour is good to know local food and taste of it. Interesting to do some authentic thai food!
I can't stress enough what a great start this meal / class was to our stay in Chiang Mai. The instructor, Do, was fantastic, and worked hard to include / explain everything to all the participants in the class. He mixed in humor and education about Thai culture and made just made the whole experience very enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Chiang Mai. No cooking experience necessary, and the alcoholic / non-alcoholic beverages while cooking were a plus!
This class was amazing, we learned 7+ dishes. The setup is you get a menu make your picks and then start to cook, of course not everyone picks the same so you do get to sample a little. And if you do like heat don’t let JJ scare you into not going hot it’s not that bad at all. Also don’t drink all the beer, it goes down like water while you are slaving over the burner.
The class was fun. The recipes were explained very well and the food was just delicious. Also learnt a bit about Akha culture.
Great class, good selection of food cooked, fun & instructional. Highly recommended for anyone to take. It was super fun & educational.
We enjoyed learning how to cook eleven Thai dishes. Very interesting and fun class with friendly staff.I would recommend to anyone.
Our cook was great and he enthusiastically explained and showed everything. We enjoyed every single minute of it. The food we made was delicious. I was the only vegetarian but he could easily adjust to it so I was able to cook the same things just with tofu.
Fun class. Started by going through a market and seeing ingredients in their more raw forms, was very informative since some of these aren't available in the US so I'd never seen them before. The cooking class itself was fun, a mix of demonstration and trying dishes yourself. Everything was surprisingly simple, nothing was complex at all.
Everybody have to do this! It was so amazing and Nini was so wonderful. Thank you for this amazing experience!!!
Nice and enjoyable class, all was delicious and fun.
Everything is perfect. The chef explain clearly the steps of dishes. I also learnt traditional Akha dishes and culture. Although the power was suddenly cut off, then we had the class with romantic candles. I have to say what a special memory. I highly recommended you to join this class. :)
Fresh ingredients, prepared in amount. Doing the menus by yourself and learning a lot about the delicious food !
The class was very funny, tasty dishes and nice people. I would highly recommend it.
What a fun, unique, wonderful time we had with our chef Deau! The food was delicious and there was sooooo much. we easily made and tried more than 10 dishes. All the food is very easy to recreate at home. Highly recommend!
Easy and very fun👋🏽
Cookbook great, cooking well organized liked the history/ cultural explanation, food was great and relaxed well paced class. Everything was there when you needed it and especially liked the help fixing the spicy/ sweet/salty tastes if you wanted less or more in any dish. The trip to the market was Not essential: could be skipped as it is in the night class.
JJ was a great Akha cooking instructor. Easy to understand. Place was well organised to cater to max 10 pax. There were breaks in between to partake the food that were just cooked & we also get to network during those times.
The chefs english was great, he was funny and friendly. Loved the wide range of dishes we got to make and try. Loved learning all the different ingredients they use in a dish and being able to grind up the curry ourselves. It was just awesome. We were super full after the class haha.
The class was wonderful, we enjoyed everything..from the diverse options in the menu that you can learn to the excellent atmosphere of the facilities. Everything was well prepared for each person, it is not that you learn by seeing; there you do cook by yourself! Highly recommended!!
Getting people to cook different stuff can be confusing.
we learned so much about the food and the culture, we did a local market tour first where you get the chance to taste local different products. The staff is super friendly and knowleadgable. I would definitely recommend, you do 11 dishes with a take home cook book
I had so much fun taking this cooking class. The instructor, Cherry, was absolutely delightful and funny. All the food we made was delicious. I learned so many interesting things and now cook so much more Thai food at home. I'd go again in a heart beat; it's well worth the money.
I so enjoyed taking the class with my girlfriends and loved eating all of the food during the 4 hours. It gave me confidence to make the recipes in my own home and I loved the cook book with the recipes! Thanks for your enthusiasm in your teaching us, for telling us about your Akha background and for expanding our appreciation for the Thai culture and food.
What an amazing class! It surpassed our expectations. The food was some of the best we’ve had in Thailand overall and we each had our own stove which was great. They gave us a recipe book at the end, and got to go home with ingredients to make curry and one of the soups again. I would highly recommend this class. You get to make over 11 dishes and the teacher is super friendly!
We loved this class. Food was nice(probably the best meal we had in Chiang Mai), and the atmosphere was great!
Good taste and variety
Good food, great taste and excellent tutor... Thanks a lot and congratulations!
Everything was so organized...the schedule was so well planned out, we got to cook and eat and cook and eat which made it fun, the dishes and pots and utensils were all lined up and easily accessible, the dishes were washed...! You made it fun by all of your comments and tips and jokes. I especially liked learning about your background/history and eating Akha traditional food. I would highly recommend the class to anyone! Well worth the money! A wonderful experience for me on my trip to Thailand. Can't wait to try the recipes when I get home! Thanks for a great time!
This was my second cooking class in Thailand and it far exceeded my expectations. Niti was amazing and I learned a lot about cooking fresh and natural from her lesson. This was seriously the best class I could have signed up for. Even if you’ve taken a cooking class before this will be different and you will learn a lot from Niti!
I can't recommend this class highly enough - just fantastic. The class was interesting (especially having the chance to go around the market beforehand to learn about the ingredients), paced well and we learnt and cooked an interesting array of dishes. Very entertaining and informative.
An very happy experience. The market visit let us see many special ingredient. The instructor gives us some really practical and interesting cooking tips. This class is value for money. I will highly recommend this cooking class to Chiang Mai visitors.
From start to finish, our experience with the Akha Cooking Class was fantastic! We booked on the day of, but thanks to fast responses we were able to book transportation with the host. Our host was very knowledgeable about the food we would be cooking and the tools we'd use to get there. She spoke good English so we had no problem understanding the information or instructions. It was also a great opportunity to socialize with the other attendees as we had several breaks to eat our various courses. Most importantly, we left full and happy!
From the moment we were picked up from our hotel to the time we were dropped off I thought this was a stellar experience. We made spring rolls, soup, basil chicken , sticky rice with mango and a lovely dipping sauce. Some of us made pad Thai and a mango salad. We each had our own cooking stations , with cutting boards , knives, pots and stove top. The place was very clean and all of the ingredients fresh. Great job! Cathy
Our little group thoroughly enjoyed our session at the cooking class . Do was a great teacher and showed us how to make spring rolls, soup, various main courses and two desserts. The outdoor kitchen is very clean and bright and each of us had our own station to chop, and cook at. I would recommend this activity to anyone.
Liliana made a perfect job: menu, coordination, instruction, entertainment, background information, her English and her room were excellent. I will recommend this cooking class to everyone in Chiang Mai.
IWe stayed in Thailand for 9 nights with three in Chiang Mai, three in Kanchamaburi, and three in Ko Lanta for our honeymoon and my wife and I decided that this cooking class was one of the top three highlights of the trip. So many delicious dishes, such a helpful and hard-working instructor (Jay!) and great conversation with other class members from around the world. Everything was carefully prepared and ended right on time. Worth every penny. My only advice would be to eat a very light lunch as 11 courses can make even the heartiest of eaters full. Also, be sure to try the coffee!
CheRy was so entertaining and informative. I’m so glad I chose this cooking experience over others that were available and have been recommending it to everyone!!!
Our group had so much fun. JJ was great using humour and guiding us patiently through the steps. Highly recommend the morning class with the market tour. No need for breakfast for you will be cooking 11 different dishes and so will have more than plenty to eat. In fact you likely won’t even need dinner. Would definitely recommend this if you want to learn about Thai cooking
Will take my sister next time.
We really enjoyed it. It was a wonderful experience and we truly recommend it. We learned many tips and tricks about Thai food and about Thai culture in general. Thank you!
We had been at the cooking event as a couple. We really enjoyed the activities offered by cookly. First, we spent some time at the market to deepen our knowledge about local ingredients for our meals and tasted different groceries, we liked it. Cooking was also quite good, everything was made with fresh vegetables and traditional Thai/ akha food. Because u are cooking and therefore eating a lot, I would suggest to not eat much before. Why we only give 4 instead of 5 stars is that the coordinaten with some dishes was not optimal so that we ate it cold. All in all we recommend the cooking class.
The teacher could not take care everyone finally we cooked no good
We had so much fun. The teacher was really really nice and spoke english perfectly. One of the best activities we've done in our trip.
A wonderful experience!
It was extremly well organized, with a variety of dishes to suit everyone's taste. A very enjoyable night had by all. Transfers to and from and gifts from JJ were a bonus. Highly recommend this course
The cooking teacher is fluent in English (uncommon in Thaillande). We have learn 11 dishes in a half day. We receive a cooking book also avaidable in Internet.
Great food, learned some techniques and typical ingredients as well as some Akan culture bits.
Our class was at capacity, which concerned me at first, but it turned out to be a fabulous experience, in part because of the other participants. The market tour was informative and didn't feel hurried. The class itself was amazing. I am a chef at home in the US, and admittedly, my expectations were low-ish for a class like this, but they far, far exceeded my expectations. The mise en place was on point, the instructor was personable and very clear with instruction, and she gave great recommendations for substitutes of ingredients if we have to sub at home. The end was a family style meal in the dining room of the home of the hosts. It's a great way to get to know fellow travelers, and it's a nice way to relax and enjoy the end results of your labors.
Definitely a great cooking course in a lovely and familiar atmosphere with an incredible teacher. One of the best experience ever!!! I learn a lot of Thai cuisine but also about Thai culture, new ingredients, and how to cook with love!!!
We had a lovely time at the Thai Akha Cooking Class. The class was simple and good to follow. How to prepare the food was perfectly explained and there was enough choice in the meals you could prepare. The explanation about the history of the food was most welcome and the staff was really nice. We would definitely recommend this class.
My 11 year old son and did cooking and loved it. It was easy instructions and fun
We have done sooo much as a family here in Chiang Mai - zip lines - white water rafting - treks And this cooking class is number one we really loved it we learnt so much plus our 18 year old won't go hungry when he goes off to uni - fantastic highly recommended Thank you
Wonderful day learning Thai Cooking. Cherry was an excellent and animated teacher. Love it!!! Highly recommended if you want to learn Thai Cooking.
Great cooking class and amazing instructed Cherry:)
We really enjoyed this. The teacher was very personable and funny. I learned so much and got to try everything we made. We were so full by the end of the night and in love with our creations. Cook book and spice packet was an added bonus. I highly recommend this.
We chose this class, because the menu was very special and different from other classes. We cooked a lot of dishes, all of them were delicious! We would do this class again if we come back to Chiang Mai! Thank you for the great experience!
The Akha Tribe Cooking Class is must do for everyone who loves good food. The host, Niti, is super friendly and welcoming. She explains how to cook every dish detailed and also helps you safe the food if it gets too spicy or salty. I enjoyed the evening there alot and recommend the class to everyone!
The class was simply amaizing! The food was amaizing too! Super nice staff!
It was a true pleasure to walk around in a traditional market of Chiang Mai. We discovered the best ingredients, special tips to know how to buy in a fresh market and more! We ate a small and DELICIOUS cake :D As for the cooking school, I made the right decision of not eating before going to the cooking class! It was a true delight to eat the food that I made by myself !! The recipe book you gave us will be in good hands and I will definitely cook again the delicious dishes that we've learned! Thank you very much!!
A great experience with an excellent teacher!
Thai- Ahka kitchen is run by Akha people who were born and raised in Thailand. We love Thai Food, as you do, so we would like to invite you to experience Akha Food and Akha culture. Give us a chance to tell you our story. Our small culture will sooner or later cease to exist and it will become forgotten. This is our chance to pass down our traditions and cooking styles to the world in hope that at least some parts of it will live through people who continue to use our techniques. You can become a part of that.
