Had a great time learning to make and eating 4 different popular Thai foods. The kitchen area is really nice and the host does an excellent job with all aspects of the class. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a fun afternoon. Would take again if there was a class of additional recipes.

We learned how to make mango sticky rice, tom yum soup, pad Thai and the best green curry I ever had. We also got to learn the names of all the raw ingredients and taste and smell everything before using it. They provided alternative ingredients to cater to different dietary requirements such as vegetarian or no shrimp.

All 4 dishes are very tasty. Friendly and professional atmosphere. Khun Joyce (chef) is very kind and warm-hearted.

She is really friendly and made my first Thai cooking experience great.All of the dishes were simple but delicious. You will leave full, refreshed and happy. The area around the class is also pretty interesting, lots to explore and see.

Seriously if you are into cooking, love Thai food or love to learn about other cultures, I can't recommend this class enough. We had so much fun and Joyce is an incredible cook and teacher. She's so patient, knowledgeable and fun. She taught us how to cook the most popular Thai dishes starting from scratch, even making our own coconut milk! I also want to thank Pao who learned it was my birthday and improvised a cake and sang for me. What a great guy! Seriously, what a great time we had. This cooking class was one of my favorite things I did in my two weeks in Thailand! I always loved Thai food, especially Thai noodles, and am not the best chef. Our chef Joyce was so knowledgeable and helped us understand all the ingredients, then took us step by step through each dish. They even let us made an extra favorite (pad kra pao) of the couple I was doing the class with. We made homemade coconut milk, tom yum soup, pad Thai, green curry, pad kra Pao, and mango sticky rice. They were so fun and nice and made it a fun and calm atmosphere with music, table setting, work stations, and water. This was also a small group class which I loved (only me and another couple). This class was a great experience and got me excited to make these dishes at home! I even bought a wok and some ingredients to take home with me the next day. Also come hungry because you will be eating 3 meals and mango stick rice for dessert!

There are many cooking schools in BKK and I based my decision largely on the menu offered. What makes Mahanakorn Thai Cooking Class different: - Small business ran by the extremely kind, lovely and competent cook, Joyce - The class is offered nearby Wat Panknam Phasi Charoen - Joyce had the time and took me to the temple after the class! - The food was delicious. Joyce went through all of the ingredients so patiently and I feel like I can make the dishes at home. Would I recommend Mahanakorn Thai Cooking Class? More than I can put into words! I will contact Pi Joyce for future trips!

Incredible experience i was on the only person in the class so had a private cooking lesson. Joyce was lovely and super friendly. I had so much fun. She put on music and let me pick songs. I made a variety of dishes including, mango sticky rice, Thai green curry, pad Thai and Tom Yum soup. She taught me all about the herbs, spices and vegetables that we used to cook with. All the ingredients are freshly bought. If you book directly on her website Mahankorn thai cooking class you can get a discounted price compared to get your guide. Also she does different meals based on the day so take a look at her website to see what day suits your appetite best. She caters for vegan and vegetarian people to if you let her know in advance. I would highly recommend to others it’s also a 2 min walk from the Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen and the hidden Bangkok bistro. Making it very convient if you have a short time in Bangkok.

Joycez and her husband are fantastic. No one else signed up for the class, so we ended up with a private cooking class. Her class size is always small, which is why we signed up for this one. The space is great, there’s a cooking station and a chopping station. And the FOOD is INCREDIBLE. After a fantastic introduction to the different foods and herbs we would be working with, we made tom yum soup, pad thai with shrimp, green curry with chicken and sweet sticky rice with mango. I had asked Joycez if it was possible to also make papaya salad, and she even added that into the menu free of charge. Every single thing was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever tasted. I had no idea that green curry made from scratch could be so delicious. This was everything I wanted in a class— small, personal attention, delicious food, great and engaging explanations. I also like that it wasn’t directly in Bangkok city so that we got to see a less touristy part of the city. Thank you so much Joycez, I truly hope we will see you again and get to take another class from you!! We will be talking about this experience for a long time.

My sisters and I booked this class last minute. We had to change days, and they were very accommodating to our last minute changes. Chef Joyce was very friendly and knowledgeable. She explained all the ingredients to us and their importance in the recipe. We made pad Thai, chicken fried rice, tom yum soup, and mango sticky rice. She let us make the fried rice instead of the usual green curry, since fried rice is one of our favorite Thai dishes. Everything was delicious! We had a great time and would definitely bring friends back. Looking forward to bringing these recipes and trying them back home. This was an experience I will treasure forever. Joyce you are a such a wonderful human and a fabulous cook. As soon as I arrived I was greeted with the natural warmth and charm that is Joyce to her soul. Refreshments were offered and I was then shown the upstairs cooking area that was immaculate and very well organised . Joyce has remarkable english speaking skills so conversation was effortless and fun. I was taught authentic Thai dishes of Tom Yum Soup, Pad Thai, Green Curry and Mango Sticky Rice. Every dish had fresh ingredients ready for me to cut up and even pummel in a mortar and pestle. Such fun! Joyces knowledge of the why and how to use such ingredients was incredible and very informative. I loved the wok used so much that Joyce, the great gal she is, after the class actually walked me to the market and vendor that she bought her wok from. And yes - the wok came back to Australia with me !! At the end of making each dish, Joyce would set up a little dining area and as I enjoyed my creation, Whitney Houston would be singing in the background. Such great memories. This session would be fabulous for a family, group, couple - or like me a solo trip - which my husband organised for me. Such a great day in a really authentic Thai family neighbourhood - school kids, schools, parks, a canal and mum/dad shops - and of course the 7/11!! What I appreciated most is that it didn’t feel staged. You’re not just standing there watching someone cook. You actually chop, pound, stir, taste, adjust. And they explain things in a way that makes sense. Not in a textbook way, but in a “okay, this is why your curry tastes flat” kind of way. Seeing the herbs and ingredients up close makes a difference. Suddenly, Thai food isn’t just “spicy.” You start noticing the layers. Sweet, sour, salty, heat, and that citrusy lift from the lime leaves. The instructors were warm without being overly scripted. You can ask questions. You can mess up a little. Nobody rushes you. By the end, you’re sitting down eating food you actually cooked yourself, and it tastes legit. Not “for a class” good. Just good. It’s the kind of experience that stays with you because when you go home and cook that green curry again, you’ll remember the technique, not just the recipe. Bangkok has a lot to offer. This was one of the few activities that felt worth the time.
