Your experience begins at your host’s home, where you’ll learn about the traditional ingredients and techniques used to prepare Cochinita Pibil, a beloved Mayan-style slow-cooked pork dish. Get hands-on as you season and marinate the pork, wrap it in banana leaves, and prepare it for a slow three-hour cook.
While the Cochinita Pibil cooks, hop on a bike and ride through the local community to discover four unique cenotes. Each cenote offers a different setting and atmosphere, giving you the opportunity to experience the natural diversity of the region. Take time to swim, snorkel, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings away from the large, commercial cenote parks.
After your cenote adventure, cycle back to your host’s home and enjoy the freshly prepared Cochinita Pibil together. Throughout the experience, your local Mayan hosts will share stories about their culinary traditions, culture, and connection to the community.
