We randomly found a flyer for a cooking class on the street in Pokhara and it ended up being the best experience of our time in Pokhara! Amrit and his wife were very kind and authentic people. They picked us up from our hotel and took us to the local market to buy our ingredients to make Dal Bhat. He educated us on the different spices and vegetables available at the market. Then we went to his business and before cooking he gave us a short presentation on his charity that the cooking classes fund. He helps orphaned children by providing a home and getting them an education. He has made a huge difference in these children’s lives. After the presentation we made Dal Bhat! He gave us secret tips that he does to make it taste extra delicious. We made a wonderful meal and some great memories. If you are in Pokhara, I highly recommend seeking out this cooking class and giving to his great charity!
Friendly family, great local market, delicious food and an objective of supporting local kids education
Nice experience to learn local cooking style and to hear different stories of the owner about education, charity and kindness, helping children to pursuit for a better life.
Yesterday we shared a wonderful experience cooking with Amrit and his lovely wife. They were very considerate and detailed in their explanations, making us feel very welcome and taken care of. Their hearts are big, creating funds for children in need as well as giving a gift to us tourists to bring back to our home country’s. We left happy with full tummies; highly recommend this experience 🙏🏽
We had a nice cooking class with Amrit where we learned to make momos. It was fun to learn the different folding techniques. Amrit is a very kind man who does a lot for orphan children with his good cause. Thank you Amrit!
We chose the Momo class and it was so much fun learning to shape them. We took the market tour and it was a treat to see all the colorful and fresh fruits and veggies. Amrit is such a genuine guy and clearly cares very deeply about the charity he runs. 100% of the profits go to this charity - he doesn’t take any for himself. Highly recommended!
His history is very touching. He has helped so many children in the past. So that’s actually his motivation for the cooking classes. The money is not only Wort every penny, but it is also fully used to enable children’s education for those who weren’t born fortunate enough. He showed us how to make momos in all the different techniques and it was sooo amazingly good. I am defo making some when I get back home!
I had an amazing experience with my friend at Amrith’s house. We joined the momo cooking class, and he shared wonderful stories about his culture and the journey behind his cooking company. His motivation for starting this initiative is truly inspiring. He aims to support underprivileged children in building better lives for themselves. We learned three different ways to make momos and a special sauce for the momos. It was such a fun and meaningful experience at Love and Light.
Such a lovely cooking class! Amrit explained very passionately about the charity behind the cooking class, which was inspiring! And he explained very well how to make mo:mo’s, which we enjoyed afterwards. We chatted about lots of things and learned about Nepal in the meantime. Would recommend 100%!
We wanted to learn how to make Dal Bhat so we could make it at home as a reminder of the great times we have had in Nepal. We searched on ChatGPT to find cooking classes in Pokhara, and Love and Light Nepali Cooking came up as the top recommendation. Amrit was very responsive to our booking request, and was able to accommodate us with only a few hours notice. We were pleased to learn that the proceeds from the course go directly to a children's education charity based in Pokhara which Amrit runs. We enjoyed learning more about this charity and the amazing work they do before the cooking started. The cooking itself was great. It was very hands on, and we were involved in every stage. Amrit was happy to answer any of our questions, and discuss variations that we could use if we can't find the exact ingredients he used when we get back home to the UK. The food we made was delicious and we look forward to cooking it at home. Amrit also adapted the recipe for us to include some additional information that we requested, and sent it to us after the experience so that we didn't need to worry about making notes and could just enjoy the experience. Overall we had a great time and couldn't recommend this highly enough!
Learning Nepalese cuisine with the couple from Back to Nepal was so much fun! They were so kind, friendly, and willing to share, it felt like being with family and friends! I had a wonderful time learning and having lunch with them!
Our experience with Armit and his wife was truly inspiring and humbling. They have a wonderful mission to help the Nepal community and children with education and sharing their experiences with cooking and food. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling through Pokhara who wants to support a good cause and learn to cook the local cuisine. They picked us up at our hotel and took us to the local market. It was great to learn about the ingredients and how they work in both the markets and in the food. It was delicious 😋
This is so much more than a cooking class! We enjoyed a visit to the local market and an in depth, enjoyable cooking class all whilst contributing to the amazing charity, Adventure Nepal. Amrit is extremely passionate about this charity and he has done a wonderful job so far, with big visions for the future. The cooking class itself was very enjoyable and we learnt lots about local cuisine and top tips for cooking. Don’t give it a miss!
We really enjoyed our cooking class with Amrit at Love and Light. The food was so tasty and it was great to hear about the charity and that the money was going to a good cause!
