Karen was super lovely and was able to show us around the market, tell us about the local food and immerse us in Chengdu. We had a really fun morning and would recommend the experience.
I always try to find some really local thing when I travel. This tour helps me find the hidden gem in the market. Karen is like my old neighbor who brings me back to life, the real Chengdu life. We strolled along the alleys. Karen introduced the history and current situation of this area. I have tried variety of food, like spring roll with pickle, century egg, marinated pig ear, phoenix hands, sweet-water noodle, chaoshou with chili oil, blood curd with large intestine. That's not all, because I just have one stomach. Wine tasting is highly recommended, and here has plum wine, ginseng and gouji berry wine, medicine wine ( contain a whole snake) and whtie wine. Just take a sip, otherwise you'll get drunk easily. People in the market are so friendly. They always say"Hello" to me, even though we don't know each other. I can hear and see Mahjong playing everywhere, because this is their life, this is Chengdu life. I like karen's travel phiosophy: Travel like a Local. I think she really makes it!
I'm a local Sichuanese. I have been traveled to many countries. When I travel to a new place, I always try to make me become a local. Eat like a local, live like a local, think like a local, travel like a local. Because this is my way to experience a difference in life.
It's like an actor who can play different roles. So when you come to my beloved city: Chengdu and join my tour, I'll be your director, L'll direct you to play a Chengduese.
