The tour was worthwhile. The highlights started with a really good driver who took us to a proper authentic wholesale Balinese market. Here we were able to interact with the locals and see how people really purchase their edible goods as well as items for the kitchen. Got to make a few purchases to take home and see the beautiful herbs and spices and even tobacco in a wholesale raw state which was interesting. The farm we then went to was set in a great location. Not convinced of it being a 100% true organic farm as stated in the advertising as we were advised whilst walking by the guide it's not and 50:50 so some pesticides are actually used. Besides that and overcoming that thought as we were wanting true organic we still enjoyed the experience of the day of looking at the companion planting that existed and walking the beautiful fields. With the actual farm walk and cooking there were too many people involved for us as there were 10 tourist participants. With 10 participants you often didn't get to hear information given on the walk unless you were at the front. The food cooked for the feast was really tasty and amazing with a choice of vegetarian or non-vegetarian dishes. We got some great cooking tips to take home with us and overall enjoyed the day and food.
The whole experience was amazing start to end. The driver was lovely and took us to the market which was such an interesting experience, he had so much knowledge. Walking around while the fruit and veg were handpicked in front of us was an unforgettable experience. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, the food was amazing, like nothing I’ve ever tasted before
10/10, everything was perfect! We loved the market tour, the rice paddy tracking was so much fun and cooking with the balinese chefs was our favorite. The food was awesome and so fresh. We would recommend doing this cooking class to anyone coming to bali!
We had a great experience, visiting a local market and farm before learning about different ingredients, and cooking local dishes on fire stoves. We were joined by a few other groups, but had a great time cooking together. The only thing I would have like more of, is being a bigger part of the cooking. We had a lot of help with the frying and boiling, which was probably the most effective, but didn't leave feeling like I had learned the ins and outs of the dishes by the end. We did get a recipe booklet, so will try at home.
It was a good day.
"We recently attended the cooking class and had an amazing experience. Not only did we learn a lot, but the food we prepared was absolutely delicious. The instructor's expertise and guidance made the class both informative and enjoyable. Highly recommended!"
Lovely place with a good organic farm and really good vegetables. The chef is a Balinese authentic guru! Always available for additional explanation. The best vegetarian cooking class in Bali!
The people here are very nice and we learned a lot about the Balinese kitchen. We can just recommend it.
A great cooking class set amongst rural Indonesian rice fields. All food came from their own vegetable garden. Everything we cooked was delicious and wholesome.
We had an amazing day shown round all the rice fields the class was set in the most perfect setting imaginable, we would highly recommend this cooking class to everyone ! Thank you for a fantastic day.
This was such an amazing experience, my whole family loved it and I am so glad we did it. From the market, walking through a beautiful rice field, to the fantastic cooking class and of course the eating. Thanks for letting us be part of this.
Best experience by far in Bali! Authentic cooking experience, great company and fantastic food!
A very delightful experience delivered by a clever and honest team of people. Guests were delightful too! Oh, and the food - yes - delicious. The location - fascinating. The tuition- hands on and interesting. The price - very, very reasonable. Access - well organised taxi.

We had a great day! Visited the the market where the local people shop then to Geralds home for the class. Walked through the Organic Farm and picked produce needed for our lunch. We all chopped, cooked and learnt how to make some amazing dishes. Thank you Gerald and your family . From Maryanne and Michelle
Beautiful day out at the market and farming sites before a fun cooking session that was filling and delicious. You certainly wont go home hungry. 😊 Lost a point as when we enquired about the roosters on site we were told they were for cockfighting. Not okay.
This cooking class was really good. At first, we just like the thought that they are organic and everything we make is organic. Furthermore, the host was really sweet and welcoming and wanted to tell us about everything we asked. And a giant plus was that the food tasted AMAZING. It was probably the best Balinese food we have tasted on our whole trip.
Everything was absolutely amazing.
What an inspirational cooking class. Got picked up in Ubud and transported to Sideman village. Went to a huge local market on the way, picked vegetables from their village farm and then helped cook a vast array of traditional dishes. The food was delicious and we were given a recipe guide to take home with us.
We loved the class, fun educational and delicious.
Great, authentic class in a stunning location!
We had a great day. Really enjoyed it - learnt a few things & cooked some amazingly fresh & gorgeous dishes. Would highly recommend.
Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to see the real Bali and get their hands dirty! The markets were fascinating and our guide explained everything to us. We loved walking through the fields to the kitchen and picking ingredients for the food we would make. And the vegetarian dishes we made were so delicious. We learnt so much and really enjoyed ourselves! This was such great value because the pick up and drop off were all included in the price so all we had to do was sit back and enjoy. Thank you so much!
This day was mind blowing and such a learning experience. The market was fascinating and our teacher explained so many things to us and we absolutely loved walking through the fields of Sidemen to the kitchen. Loved learning the vegetarian dishes and will definitely be trying these at home. This was such good value too because the pick up and drop off transfers were all included so all we had to do was sit back and enjoy. This is definitely something for anyone who wants to experience the real Bali and get their hands dirty. Would definitely recommend!
We didn’t end up going to local market, rice paddy & organic farm tour. But the experience was quite unique and fun nevertheless.
The market tour was very authentic with some tastings along the way. We then drove to the rice and veggie fields where we harvested a few ingredients. The cooking itself took about 1.5 hours and we were involved in a lot of different stepz along the way but also got some support from the cooks at that place. The surrounding mountain panorama and traditional style kitchen were definitely the cherries on the whole cooking-class-tart :) Thanks a lot. Robert
We had an amazing time in the cooking class. They were all so gracious, funny and welcoming. Complicated process yet the chef was so compassionate to share his knowledge and experience in making very delicate dish, an authentic Balinese food. Along with my friends, we enjoyed making the spice paste. Learned a lot of techniques in cooking and added more style that I would definitely incorporate and adopt cooking at home. Overall, the Ubud culture is great! Lovely people and most especially the food is delicious. Our visit was totally worth it!
What a great day, toured a local market - returned to the farm to prepare a traditional feast with the help of the guide and his family. Amazing food and a experience to see how locals live and eat in Bali.
The experience was great in a beautiful setting. It is fairly hands on and the food produced is out of this world, super fresh and plenty. I would recommend for someone wanting to learn some basic dishes which can be easily copied for meat eaters as well.
This cooking class was brillaint. The staff were super friendly and the food was absolutely delicious (vegetarian option). I would highly recommend this to any family member or friend. Thanks again!
The course is very complete, each steps is very well explained, the surrounding is calming and beautiful and the teaching is very enriching. The hardest part is to leave after the class.
I came here with my best friend. We had a very good time here. It was an unbelievably delightful welcome from the chef and his family. It was amazing that we get to know more about Balinese culture, cooked and ate various Balinese food.
My husband and I had a lovely day and real Balinese experience! We were picked up from the hotel following by a little tour around the fruit, spice and also the family rice field. I love how the kitchen itself looks so simple and traditional, people are so nice and the most important thing is that the meal we cook is incredibly delicious. This definitely is the highlight of our trip in Bali!!
Experience real Balinese dishes in the sacred village of Sidemen. We offer you our traditional way of cooking with firewood in our open air kitchen surrounded by organic farms and breathtaking rice field views.
