We had a lot of fun in the class! Jin is an absolute delight, makes the class very approachable and engaging.
The place itself was very nice and Jin was very friendly too. The cooking was fun too and all the information about the dishes and the hakka culture was very interesting. Would definitely do it again :)
Best pineapple pastry I have ever tasted. Pineapple pastry fresh out of the oven is heavenly. Noodles were good. Lei tea was fun to make. Loved the stories. Love the ambiance and the relaxing atmosphere. Thank you for a fantastic experience.
Jin is a really lovely teacher, with a lot of insight of culture and food. She's very easy to talk to, plus the cooking instructions were great. I love the pineapple pastries we made together.
Jin was a patient, kind, and interactive teacher who provided not only the recipes for the dishes, but also their history. This class is a must do for foodies looking for an intimate experiencd
I love the interactive session with Jin where we get to learn each others culture, stories behind a dish, some cooking techniques and a cozy balcony view to enjoy the dishes we made. Great hosting, well organized and a small group of participants where everyone gets sufficient guidance, 11/10 recommended ✨
Perfect moment !
Great course. Jin was lovely and had great information. Lots of fun and delicious.
Loved the class and Jin was great. Not only was the food great and the cooking wonderful, but to learn about her heritage and the history of the cuisine was super. We highly recommend the class!
I really enjoyed the cooking class. The courses were really delicious. The place is amazing, and the teacher is super kind and has loads of interesting stories and cultural insights to share. Highly recommended! All the best to you:)
This was definitely one if not THE highlight of our 4-day stays in Taipei! Jin is super nice and a great teacher. She also answered so many of our questions on Haka culture, Chinese and Taiwanese history etc. plus she gave us great off-the-tourist-track tips on what else to do in Taiwan. Her new place is beautiful and well designed. Thank you so much Jin!
Despite all my allergies etc. Jin organized optimal substitutions to make sure that I won't lack anything. She gave good explanation to every dish also with some cultural context, demonstrated the preparation and supervised the people doing it. Everything was done in a calm, welcoming mood in a superb location. I couldn't have imagined a better cooking class. It was one of my highlights in Taipei. Highly recommended!
Great class! Sharing of aboriginal history and food with cooking delicious food.
Very relaxed atmosphere. Also very informative learnt a lot about Hakkanese cuisine. And to top it off the food is absolutely delicious.
When my boyfriend and I were planning a trip to Taiwan, we wanted to experience Taiwanese cuisine, so we applied. In fact, me and my boyfriend both work as cooks at a hotel! It was so much fun and beneficial to learn new cuisines in a new country~! It seems that you recently changed the location of the cooking class, and it was very pleasant and unique. Next time I visit, I want to learn about other types of Taiwanese cuisine.
Jin's Table was a fantastic culinary experience. When we signed up, we expected to maybe bake one Hakka meal and leave with that. However, we got to try and make multiple dishes, both sweet and savory. Jin was also so nice and made all the instructions clear and easy to follow. It was fantastic sitting there, making great food, learning about some of the food, and learning more about the Hakka culture. We wholly recommend others to take the time and try it out if you have the time!
My friend and I signed up for the class last minute while we were in Taipei. Jin, the instructor was great and the food we made was sooo tasty. It was a such a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Definitely recommend if you are in Taipei.
Apparently, it was Jin's first experience with having practicing Muslims as her customers, and there was some last-minute adjustment to the ingredients used for the noodles, but all in all, it was a very smooth and engaging experience! We are inexperienced cooks, but Jin and her coworker very patiently and gently guided us through our sticky pastry dough and misremembered steps 🤣 1) The homemade pineapple jam they provided for the pastries was so good. Beyond souvenir quality, it tasted way better than the ones we bought later to bring back home 🤣 2) Jin thoughtfully provided us with some chilies, of which i used liberally of. So, the customization of the meal was also a great point! (For the halal aspect, she swapped out the chicken for dried tofu, and the main lard-fried-shallots with vegetable-oil-fried-shallots.) 3) The lei tea is very unique! It's a definite must-try. It seems very healthy for your gut. It pairs perfectly with the pineapple pastries btw. 4) Jin and her coworker are very friendly and had many interesting stories to tell! Her personal experiences of life, and also of the Hakka people's lifestyle. And as mentioned by many reviewers, the cats were very lovely too! Jin jokingly referred to them as her "naughty roommates who she probably owed in a past life", but we can feel the love 😚💕
It was the first time to taking a cooking class in foreign! Jin taught us kindly, so we could enjoy the class. It would be a great time to try this class.
We had a great experience at this class! The cats were so sweet (especially Debbie) and we learned a lot about Hakka food and culture in a very intimate and cozy setting. Our host let us cook at our own pace and ask as many questions as we needed. And the food was delicious!
Jin's cooking class was a really great experience and definitely a must-do in Taiwan. Jin accommodated really well to dietary needs and personalized the experience for us as we requested prior if we could make dumplings and she provided. It was such a great laidback and intimate vibe in her little house, and we loved the additional entertainment and company of her cats. The food was delicious, and it was really interesting learning about the Hakka culture and the origins of the food we were cooking. The four of us all enjoyed our dumplings, noodles and pineapple cakes served with Jin's homemade plum wine at the end of the class. Highly recommend!
The class was a great experience. Jin was amazing to talk to, the cooking was easy to follow, and the food was delicious (I had the vegetarian option). Highly recommend it to anyone in Taipei.
Our group really enjoyed this activity and can't recommend it enough. None of us are skilled cooks but Jin made it so easy for us to follow along, and everything we made turned out delicious. We also loved learning about Hakka culture, and that we made dishes that are unique versus most other cooking classes in Taipei, all in a cozy home setting. Thank you Jin and Weiwei!
Good class. Jin is very nice. The food was good. I think the pineapple cake was my highlight. I liked learning about the history.
Jin is truly amazing! She creates such a warm cozy environment for a small group to learn how to cook traditional Hakka dishes. The class is very personal as she opens her home to you and shares about her culture and knowledge around food. Every course comes partially prepared to make an easy, well-timed out class. We start with different variations of pineapple cakes, which truly may be one of the best things we try while in Taiwan! The Hakka noodles are delicious and allow you to adapt the flavor slightly to your own preferences. The Lei Cha was a fun activity as we chatted more about Jin's culture and the food we just created. We truly can not recommend this class enough! Easily one of the best experiences we had in all of Taiwan!
Love our time with Jin and WeiWei, the perfect way to spend a long layover in Taipei.
YOU SHOULD TRY THIS! Jin, her coworker and even their cats were so nice. To me it was more than cooking, it was a cultural experience. Jin introduced us Hakanese tradition with her own history and that made me feel this class more special. I got shocked by how time flew at the end. Definitely recommendable for anybody in any age.
My kids had so much fun and we loved to experience cooking traditional Hakanese(?) food.
Jin is a great instructor and the food that we made was delicious. I learned a lot about both cooking Taiwanese food and about Taiwanese culture. The flexibility in the recipes allowed me made my dishes vegetarian in the case of the pineapple dessert and vegan in the case of the rice noodles. Jin's location is very easy to walk to from a train station in Taipei making it easy to reach for those of us who don't know the area well. Highly recommended for all.
Really enjoyed the class and my time with Jin learning about Hakanese cooking!
Jin is a pro! Proud of her culture and happy to open up about its food, history, traditions and her own journey and relationship with that. She took care to adapt to a plant based menu as I had requested with no problems and during the class is very attentive to safety and hygiene. I loved this experience and I wish you every success Jin!
3-hours cooking class was all with satisfaction. In a cozy house, Kind chef, Delicious meal. My kids say that they want get class again.
The experience was very enjoyable with informative background from Jin. She was supportive, patient and ensured we had ample time to craft the hakka dishes to the best of our ability (which isn't saying much). Overall, would suggest this activity to anyone interested in cooking traditional Taiwanese hakka food.
Jin is a lovely host, very personable and easy-going. We appreciated how she accommodated to our vegetarian and vegan dietary requests. Everything we made was very delicious. It was a lot of fun! Liked how we got to learn about Hakka culture and where the ingredients came from. Looking forward to recreating these dishes at home! Was nice of Jin to take several photos during the class that were sent soon after. It felt like being a TV chef as all the ingredients are prepared ahead of time and once the pineapple cake was ready to bake, Jin takes care of the oven so you can focus on the fun stuff. A real highlight of our Taiwan trip!
Jin is a great host and teacher. The food was delicious and picked up some new recipes to try at home.
Jin, Thank you for your special class. I was so happy to spend time in your class. I will keep this memory for a lifetime.
It was so enjoyable in the class. Jin was knowledgeable about cooking and Hakka culture. Even if I'm a Taiwanese, I didn't know much about Hakka history. She was thoughtful about for us cause we were one vegan and two non-vegan. So she preparing two types of Ingredients for us. Jin has passionate to introduce Taiwanese traditional food for foreigners. I respect her great purpose. House is lovely and two adorable cats. it was such a pleasant time to join this course. I definitely will recommend my friends to go and wish she can teach more cooking classes. I'd like to learn more about Taiwanese food culture.
It was a good chance to know about Hakka! And I loved the song that was played during the class. On the website, it only said the class has vegetarian option. But the class has vegan option as well!
We absolutely loved our cooking class with Jin. First, Jin was an amazing teacher and we learned about Hakka culture and cuisine. Second, the cooking was fun and the food was fresh and delicious. Jin’s home is an oasis. I’m so glad that we booked the class during our trip to Taiwan!
We had a lovely time with Jon. She made it really easy to follow the recipe and the food was great.
While on holidays I tend to do a cooking class to experience part of the culture. Jins table did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Lots to eat. Jin is friendly and personable and I’m glad that I attended.
I enjoyed my session with Jin, a bubbly lady with a generous heart. She was really nice and she shared a lot about her Hakka roots, childhood stories, and culinary greatness. The verity of songs played during the class made the space lively, especially getting to listen to Hakka songs was bonus! A man delivered strawberries to the house while I was there, without any hesitation, she washed some and offered me to savor freshly picked strawberries of the season.
It was really nice! she was really kind, a nd the program is not that hard, so you can enjoy it!!
Jin was very nice and patiently explained us how to prepare 3 typical Hakka dishes. She is clearly a great cook, and also a great baker: she made a special birthday cake for my friends birthday!
Jin was a very welcoming and knowledgeable host! My boyfriend and I truly enjoyed the cooking class, in which we did not just learn how to make two dishes (pineapple cake and fried noodles) and tea but we also had the chance to learn from the host about the local culture and traditions, and she was very patient answering all the Questions! Advised experience for those who want to get in touch with the local culture from a different perspective!
Truly enjoyable experience in a cozy atmosphere. Very well prepared and outcome was really tasty. Learned a lot about Hakka people and culture. Recommend to anyone.
Jin is very friendly host and this cooking class studio has very homy and cozy feeling in every best way. Me and my sister had the best time and she answers our questions in great details. It was very helpful and so much fun! Friend noodle dish is very tasty but I have to say, pineapple cake really stole the show! So yummy!
I had the absolute best time with Jin! She is such a warm and welcoming person and it felt like cooking with my own family. Her home and kitchen is homey and warm and I appreciated the authentic space, as this is Jin's real home and it's really beautiful, filled with food, plants and cook books. Jin is a real foodie, so for anyone who really loves food and cooking, the conversations with Jin will be enlightening and a true glimpse into Hakka culture, farming, preserving food and authentic Taiwanese history. She taught me so much about her Hakka culture as well as food in Taipei. As a vegetarian, I appreciated her accommodation of my meat-free needs. So vegetarians can be sure they will get a great experience! The food was so delicious, and Im going home with new exciting recipes, cooking methods and inspiration to prepare Taiwanese food at home. Don't let the Hakka Lei Cha Tea Grinding fool you, this is the highlight of the class, you will learn about something really special here, and will go back home with the most unique and nutritious meal recipe. She was also kind enough to give me loads of tips on other things to do in Taipei! If you need to choose a food class in Taipei, choose Jin's Table, you will love it! Thank you, Jin! I will never forget you, it feels like I met a long lost friend.
Jin was a great host. She taught us a bit about Hakka culture and was very generous. In addition to the noodles and pineapple cakes we made, she shared her delicious homemade plum wine.
I can finally make the 鳳梨酥(pineapple cake)!!!!! I'm vegetarian(almost vegan) and I've never ever thought about making vegan pineapple cake. It was really good taste and much much better than the factory products. It was also not too difficult to make at all. And I made the taiwan tipical fried noodle. It was really easy to make and the taste was good. I can make this everyday. And I've learned about the haka food and culture. She was a warm hearted and a such good personallity. I had a really good time. I want to visit her class again to learn more another cooking. Thank you Jin
Jin is a wonderful teacher and this was an excellent experience . We made several dishes from the Hakka region and culture and some delicious pineapple cake. You get the recipes at the end. Would highly recommmend this class to those looking for an authentic experience to learn about a rare and rich culture.
Jin is both personable and professional. She's not only a highly skilled and knowledgeable cook, she's a lovely person who sets you completely at ease. Before you know it you've learned a lot and made some absolutely delicious food. Great for rookies like myself or accomplished cooks who want to learn some fine points. Highly highly recommended.
It was a cozy residence in an authentic Chinese area. My husband and I were excited to visit a private house where Jin offered a superb cooking lesson. Since the group was small, we could ask questions freely and learned about the Hakka culture. And of course we enjoyed the food, cooking and tasting 3 dishes in 3 hours. It was well planned so that we didn't waste any time. We'd like to come back to take a lesson again.
Great teacher, yummy food, amazing time. They also happily accommodated for our dietary requirements.
Yesterday's activity was really good and very pleasant!! Jin is very nice and generous.. She not just cook but also explained the hakka culture and where the food the we cooked come from. For me was really interesting to hear and understand. The house is very clean, the equipments are very clean and her house is very neat.. I really had a good time and I would love to come back again!
