We didn’t realize it was a private dinner class just with the two of us until we got picked up, and it was such an amazing experience! There is an extensive menu of dishes you can pick from, and since we’re not dessert people, Lin gave us the option to pick an additional dish in place of the dessert. She answered all our questions (and we had many). It was amazing being able to ask someone who was so knowledgeable about food all of our questions. We highly recommend the Lanna cuisine course and we’ll definitely do it again if we come back. Pretty sure everything on the menu is delicious so we didn’t need to agonize over choosing dishes so much! We’ve been cooking from the little cookbook she gave us at the end and it’s hard to get fresh ingredients here in the US but it’s still delicious!
I highly recomment this cooking class. It's just cool to cook with claypots over fire. Lyn is a very good instructor and loves teaching and sharing her knowlegde, not only about cooking also about living. We had a lot of fun. Thank you very much.
We did the cooking course with Lin and are very happy about choosing her class! Lin made this cooking day a really great experience with lots of interesting knowledge about the original Northern Thai cuisine, delicious food and we also had a lot of fun. We have cooked the following dishes: - Northern Thai red curry with Pumpkin - Abb Pla - Grilled Fish wrap in banana leaf - Koey Soi Kai - Chiang Mai noodles with chicken - Kanom Krok - Thai coconut pudding Thank you again for this very special, unique and unforgettable day! We can only warmly recommend everyone to join one of Lin's cooking classes.
My spouse and I booked the Lanna cooking class. After booking, we were asked to pick three main dishes and a dessert to cook from an extensive list. Lin picked us up at our hotel and took us out to a market and then to her place outside the city. During the drive and at the market she told us about herself and a lot about Thai and Lanna food. She really knows her stuff. She also told us about her life, and a bit about Chiang Mai. It's obvious she's passionate about her community, culture, and food. She was a fount of information! At the cooking class we were very hands-on, under her instruction of course. The facilities are amazing - outdoor cooking in her beautiful garden, using ingredients she grows herself! The cooking course is as in-depth as you want it to be, Lin lets you find your level. The food was amazing, and the instruction was excellent. Lin has a great sense of humor. During the course she kept us refreshed with cold waters and beers, and we ate our food in her beautiful garden. All in all, an amazing experience, and a great introduction to Lanna cooking - I think this school may be the only one in Chiang Mai offering Lanna cooking classes. Highly recommended!
Thoroughly enjoyed our day with instructor Rain and her team. Really appreciated that this school offered more variety of recipes (including Lanna cuisine) which none of the other schools we researched offered. Next time we’re in Chiang Mai, we’ll be looking this school up for sure!
We’re so glad we chose the Lanna food. It was even better than any of the excellent restaurant food we’ve eaten. Lin was a wonderful host and great with our son.
Want to feel the heart of Chiang Mai? Then join this cooking class, a truly personal experience from beginning to end. After the personal pickup from the hotel it was off to a local market to pickup ingredients. Then a quick trip to the school, it was just me and my wife but we got the 5 star VIP treatment. This is how home cooking in Chiang Mai must be. Thanks for everything we truly loved the experience.
Love Chiang Mai Cooking School is in Hang Dong, a countryside town that is about a 20 minute drive away from Chiang Mai city. Lin is the local expert on Lanna cuisine (Northern Thai food) As a child, she learned her way around the kitchen by helping her mother prepare food and desserts that they sold in the local market. She started her cooking school in 2014 with her passion for cooking and sharing Lanna food.
In the school you will be welcomed by the organic garden and the open-air cooking with the old fashioned style of cooking with charcoal and ancient Thai cooking tools. Your cooking class may include dishes such as Keng Hung Lay (Chiang Mai Curry), Sai Aao (Chiang Mai Sausage), Keng Care (local vegetable and chicken curry), Khao Soi (Chiang Mai Noodle), Tom Som Kai Bai Makham (Hot and Sour Chicken Local Soup with Tamarind Leaf) and Taam Kanoon (Jackfruit Local Salad). You may learn more about how to make fresh coconut milk, fresh rice flour and sticky rice.
