We had so much fun with Manh. She took us to walk across the farm and local market. We tasted some fruits that we had never tried in our country. Manh also shared a lot about their culture and how she prepared the ingredients on usual. We really appreciated the food we cooked together. It was worth spending time with Manh in Hanoi.
Great host, fantastic food. Very friendly and welcoming. Great look around her village and was impressed with that and the service she gave. Food was fantastic, your choice of what to cook. Very yummy and interesting and inviting host. Thank you very much Manh.
Host was really kind and we had great time and experience. Prior to coking lesson, host asked me to choose the menu of 4 dishes. All foods were delicious and enjoyed meal at local family.
Highly recommend! This was one of the best experiences in Hanoi. It was well-curated, intimate, sincere, affordable and inspiring. Mandy displayed a wide range of knowledge and experience on using fresh Vietnamese ingredients to produce a balanced meal of healthy and delicious dishes. Mandy speaks fluent English and describes her passion for food and home-cooking in sincere and beautiful ways. In terms of the dishes, we made together, we made 1. Fried spring roll, 2. chicken pho noodle soup, 3. korabi salad, 4. fried pork with betel leaves, with ingredients either locally sourced from the village market or from Mandy's home garden. My partner and I have had a lot of eating experiences across Southeast Asia, and we collectively agreed that using the fresh ingredients, these dishes can be served up at any Vietnamese restaurant. Mandy will demonstrate the simple steps and was also very hands-on. If you're a home cook, all of the steps are easy to follow. She accelerates the process with prep work, and being incredibly efficient as you would if you're cooking at home. She also caters to your specific dietary preferences and/or restrictions. Being able to share a meal with her was a delight, as we shared stories and exchanged ideas. It was a significantly heartwarming cultural exchange, and we loved it. We are so inspired to bring these ideas and recipes back home. The meet-up location is straightforward and easy enough to find. Simply follow Mandy's instructions via WhatsApp.
Mandy is so lovely, everything was great and really delicious. It was also interesting to see the local market.
My boyfriend and I did the cooking class with Mandy and it was honestly the best thing we’ve done yet in Vietnam. She took us to the farm first and after we went to her house to cook. She made us feel so welcome straight away and we had such a good time preparing the food together. She taught us a lot about the different ingredients and the preparation and she truly is a great chef. Thank you so much Mandy! Would recommend to anyone!!
This cooking tour is the highlight of our trip. spoke with local guide, manh, who was proficient in English, about Vietnam, her life, their culture and family history. Took a walk around her family garden and their local markets. She went out of her way to enquire at different shops when we mentioned we were looking for something. Will definitely revisit to learn other dishes if we revisit Hanoi
This cooking class was one of the highlights of our trip! From start to finish, Manh arranged every detail to ensure that we would have a great experience. We were able to choose the dishes we wanted to cook from a varied menu. Manh spoke to our Grab driver on the way to the meeting location, and helped us to order one from her place as well, so we had little trouble with transportation to and from the venue. On arrival, we were given a tour of some key buildings to the village, the local market, and the farms. Manh explained everything to us and gave us a lot of insight into local life and culture. We then started the cooking class at Manh's house, with fresh ingredients purchased from the market that morning. Manh was patient and provided detailed instruction. We had a lot of fun preparing and cooking the ingredients. Finally, we sat down and ate lunch together once we finished cooking. The food was authentic and truly delicious! Home cooking at its best. Recipes were provided via email after the class, so we can continue to experiment at home. Manh and her family were really gracious hosts and made us feel so at home and comfortable. I'm so glad that we had this experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting Hanoi, who is keen to have a more authentic local experience of life outside the Old Quarter.
Muchas gracias
The tour through the market and farm, as well as, the meal preparation were all a great part of the experience. The small village outside Hanoi made for a truly authentic Vietnamese experience. Highly recommended for anyone traveling to Hanoi.
Walked around colourful market and farm and then prepared the meal under excellent tuition. Very pleasant and knowledgable guide.
Manh has very good English and was able to communicate to us the ins-and-outs of the family life in her village. Cooking in her home was a lovely experience as was enjoying our meal with her family.
Appreciate the hospitality straight from the hosts home-got to meet the family as well. True local experience
A visit to Hanoi would not be complete without a hands-on cooking experience with Mrs.Manh. Mrs. Manh brought us through the farm, the history of her village, and detailed steps to cooking authentic Vietnamese food. We even got a little help in the kitchen from Mrs. Manh's daughter. Though it was a pity the morning sessions were not available therefore we missed the market, this up-close and personal Hanoi experience is truly wholesome.
Such a great class with Manh, learned a lot and the food was absolutely delicious!
We had such an amazing time with Manh. The tour of the market and farm were very interesting and Manh's knowledge and communication in English was first class. All questions were answered thoughtfully. We were welcomed into Manh's beautiful home and met her lovely children. The cookery course was well matched to our abilities and everything was explained well. We then sat down to eat together with Manh and her children. The food tasted excellent, some of the best we have had in Vietnam. The conversation around the table was also excellent as Manh was able to answer the questions we had about life in Vietnam but was also very interested in our lives and experience. Manh is an excellent teacher and host. We highly recommend this activity

It was a very tasty experience with all my familly. At local market knows Manh all vegetables and fruits. We met some local people. It was very beautiful and interesting to discover garden and farmer. And finally we cooked what we have seen on the market. All ingredients were fresh and lunch was really delicious. It tasted better as restaurant/hotel and particularly for fresh fruits! We shared wonderful moments! Thank you!
Very nice cooking class, we've been able to tour the local market and farms, cook multiple dishes & eat with some chatting. Thank you :)
Before we started cooking, we walked around the farmland to see how the local veggies grow. Together we prepared a few dishes of our choice. Afterwards we enjoyed our cooked food with Manh and her family. It was a lot of fun to cook the dishes that we had been enjoying for our entire time in Vietnam. In addition, Manh told us a lot about Vietnamese culture which was really interesting
Manh is a skilled chef and experienced guide who is also a wife and a mum of 2 children. In this tour, we could get to see the real life in Hanoi's countryside which is now rapidly changing. And it came with such a nice food:) Thanks so much Manh:))
My family really enjoyed the afternoon with Manh. Visiting her family's farm and then her home was not just fun, educational and eye-opening, but a real joy and honor. Highly recommended if want to get out of the city and see "a day in the life."
Manh’s cooking class was a lot of fun! She got in touch with us after booking the class giving us the option of 5 courses from an extensive and amazing food menu. She then bought all of the ingredients fresh from the market that morning. We met her and visited the her local farm where they grow vegetables- that was a lovely way to get away from the city and discover a bit of the countryside. She taught us a lot about Vietnamese food culture and we got to meet her lovely family who dined with us after the class. The food was absolutely incredible and Manh was very patient and lovely, we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great cooking class in hanoi!
It was an extremely satisfying experience. Loved the farm tour, market tour and the whole cooking experience. Food was super fresh and yummy.
Loved the whole experience. Minh was really nice and she was a great host. The farm was beautiful and everything was clean and fresh. Her dishes were very authentic and easy to make 💖. Highly recommended this.
Located outside the city, the place of Manh was so peaceful and simple. I truly love the tropical scenery. Together with my friends, we also got the chance to visit the farm which was the source of organic and healthy ingredients. The people who greeted and welcomed us were also friendly, helpful and accommodating. The cooking class was the best, very personal and hands on cooking experience. Taught us well how to prepare Viet dishes from organic ingredients. Lastly, we enjoyed what we cooked. The food was amazing and delicious. It was like a feast that day. Would love to come back again soon!
Manh is a great host sharing with us local market and farm culture. Its the best way to understand local food and the source of food used for cooking. The food menu is provided for selection before date of arrival. Its great amosphere to cook and eat in local home setting. She is patient and able to explain clearly in english. A recommandation for anyone trying local cooking.
We used a Grab taxi to get to Manh's house following her directions when registering for the class (thanks to this good Grab experience we used this taxi system extensively in our time in Hanoi, really useful!). To begin the afternoon, we spent a very enjoyable time walking around the market and her farmland, helping to plant and water a few things along the way. Her explanations of what was being grown were really interesting and it was nice to spend time asking questions and hearing about the local way of life. On our way back to her house, we stopped by a community club and played table tennis for a short time with the children from the village (this was not a scheduled part of the afternoon but was a very welcome stop for us). Manh and her family gave us a very warm welcome into their home for the rest of the afternoon where we prepared a lovely meal with her and the help of her husband. Manh sent a menu prior to our meeting, giving us the option of what we wanted to cook. She had all the ingredients ready for us and prepared the chicken in her spotless kitchen. The food was very varied and gave a good intoduction to Vietnamese cuisine. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and being able to chat with Manh and her family whilst preparing the meal which we later shared with her family. It was delicious! At the end of the class, she helped us arrange the Grab taxi to get back to our hotel in Hanoi. After having walked past a few restaurants in Hanoi following our afternoon with Manh, we were so glad to have chosen a different cooking lesson experience where we were not part of a big group. It was a lovely experience with a local family and a much nicer introduction to the Vietnamese way of life. Manh was very responsive to our emails and although her home is about 20 km outside of Hanoi, it was a very easy journey with Grab and not a hassle at all.
The class really was something I’ll remember. We loved that it was outside the city, in an area we would never have visited and we got to experience a real local market and lifestyle that would have been otherwise unknown to us. The host was so open and the people were so friendly and happy to see us! The food was amazing and I will definitely be cooking them again!!
We were very touched by Manh's hospitality and professionalism from the time we booked a class on cookly and until the end. 1. She was prompt in getting in touch with us, customizing a menu for us that was pro-vegetarian, and her detailed instructions to us and the grab driver on getting to her place which ensured a smooth, fuss-free tour out to the village. 2. Despite coming from the SEA region, it was still an eye-opener to be able to walk the local village market and fields and to hear off the community spirit, history and the struggles that the villagers encounter in farming. 3. Cooking at her place was truly a collaborative experience where her whole family pitched in with their help. Her girls help to settle our 5-y old boy into the surroundings and were great companions. Our son loved the savoury green bean cake and all of the food was freshly made from scratch which made the meal even more delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed the personal touch unlike the 'cookie-cutter' cooking classes available in the old quarter. The environment was homely and made us feel at ease. We would definitely recommend this as an 'off the beaten track' - jewel for visitors looking to experience an intimate daily living of a Vietnamese family. We would also like to wish Manh the very best as an enterprising full time mom at home!
Despite the rainy day, farm and market tour was very nice! We love hearing from Mrs Manh the stories about market and farm. Food was delicious and Mrs Manh's Family so lovely! Thank you very much for having us :)
Mandy was an amazing host and really showed us another side of Hanoi that we would have otherwise never known about. The tour of the village and market was spectacular. Food was awesome. Do it if you are thinking about it!
It has been a fantastic moment to share some time with Mandy, to cook together, visit the market, learn about Vietnamese culture and life and visit her at her house. Thank you very much for opening your doors to me and my son!
Meeting Mandy, strolling through her village with her, shopping at the market, visiting her farm and cooking with her and her family was absolutely a wonderful experience. We will never forget our day with her and her family. You will not regret booking this tour!!! The food that we cooked together was some of the best that we had in Vietnam.
This experience was unforgettable from beginning to end! Our host was so welcoming and we learned so much walking through the market, exploring the farmer's fields and helping to prepare the meal. The food was absolutely delicious but even better was the chance to spend some time with a lovely Vietnamese family and learning about their culture! It was definitely one of our trip highlights! You won't regret it!
This was such a lovely experience. Mandy was amazing, she showed us around the market and farm and told us a lot of information about how things run in her village. I learned so much about the culture of Vietnam from this. The cooking lesson was also great, she was really encouraging and as a bonus we got to eat lunch with her two adorable daughters. The food that we cooked was fresh and delicious. We really felt like part of the family in her home. It is an experience that we will never forget. Thanks Mandy!!
For my wife and I this was a trip into the unknown but we chose this cooking class because it would take us outside the city so that we could get a glimpse of semi-rural life and because the choice of menu on offer was so much more varied. We downloaded the "Grab" - as in grab a taxi- app, called a Grab taxi with the assistance of the hotel receptionist and off we went. After a 40 minute or so drive - during which time 'Mandy', our host-to-be, was in touch with the taxi driver we arrived to be greeted by Mandy in a traditional hat, with a bright smile on her face. My wife donned an extra Vietnamese hat and off we went to immerse ourselves in the market and its many, at times, surprising revelations - from vegetables to fruit, to fowl to fish to fresh meat, cooked food, traditional medicine, pipes, chopping boards, brooms and basket ware and two blacksmiths forging tools! The market people know Mandy from the village and were all jovial and friendly, this was just great to see what choice the market had to offer! We then toured the vegetable gardens to marvel at their abundance and proceeded to Mandy's new and lovely house where we helped prepare a great meal of four different dishes we will endeavour to replicate at home! During the time we talked to Mandy about so many things: we could not but be impressed by her person. We then had our wonderful meal, were offered a beer and finished off the experience with a sticky rice bun baked by Mandy's grandmother. We thoroughly enjoyed our outing and felt privileged to have met an impressive young woman like Mandy!
Manh was a great host - she was accommodating when two of our friends decided to join us last minute! I highly recommend the fried spring rolls and the crab soup. The process of making the crab soup was a lot of fun and truly rewarding! It tastes different from what you can get on your own on the streets of Hanoi. This was one of my favorite meals while in Hanoi!
Cooking with Manh was the best thing we've done in Hanoi. We took an Uber to her village outside of the city, where she met us and gave us a fascinating tour of the morning market. We're American, and normally shop in supermarkets, so having Manh introduce us to the vendors and teach us what all the ingredients are was really eye-opening. After the market, she gave us a wonderful tour of everyone's gardens, where we saw most of the produce from the market being grown. The gardens are extraordinary and lush. After that, we went back to her house, and learned how to make 4 different Vietnamese dishes, using only ingredients from the market and gardens. She's a great teacher, and we had such a fun time. The food was delicious. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to cook with Manh and go somewhere few tourists get to see. We would recommend anyone spend the day with her.
We booked with Ms Manh for a cooking class and we really were incredibly happy with the experience!! Ms Manh is such a nice welcoming person. She explained tons of interesting things about the village and the surrounding farm. Then we want into her beautiful home and cooked into her kitchen. We were able to choose what to cook between the choices she had offered which was a plus. She gave us tips on cooking method and ingredients. And then we ate the beautiful feast! Really delicious. One of the best food we've had. It really was an intimate and special experience. Thank you so much Ms Manh and I hope we'll have the chance to meet again.
As we often do when we visit an area, we looked for a chance to take a local cooking class. In our search on Cookly and other sites, we came across Ms. Mahn's Farm Tour & Family Cooking Class. Since we also wanted to get out of Hanoi city, we were very interested in Ms. Mahn's class. And we are so glad we made this choice. Booking the class on Cookly was easy as pie. We got our confirmation quickly and then communicated directly with Ms. Mahn to work out the details and make our menu choices. Ms. Mahn also advised on booking an Uber car and stayed in contact with the Uber driver as he made his way out of the city and into the countryside, eliminating our anxiety about getting there without getting lost. Our time with Ms. Mahn (Mandy) turned out to be the single most enjoyable part of our entire stay in Hanoi. Upon meeting Mandy, we instantly knew we had made a new friend. She met us by the roadside with the warmest smile I've seen in a long time. We started our time with Mandy by taking a tour of the local farming community, in which she gave us very knowledgeable explanations about the crops being grown, the farming methods, the history, etc. Everyone she introduced us to along the tour was so warm, friendly and welcoming. Since we were visiting during Tet, we were basically visiting during the most important family time that Vietnamese have. And Mandy made us feel included in this spirit the entire time we were with her. For this, we are most grateful. After the farm tour, Mandy took us to her home, introducing us to her neighbors and family along the way. And when we entered her home, we immediately felt relaxed and welcome. The cooking class Mandy provides is very interactive. We had pre-selected our menu from a nice variety of choices she offers, so she had all the ingredients on hand and ready for us to enjoy. This was especially remarkable since we were there, as I said earlier, during Tet, and the local markets were working on limited schedules. As we were preparing the meal, Mandy gave us instructions and tips and always related what we were doing to how it fits into the normal, daily life of her wonderful family. Her first grade daughter was there also which added more warmth and humor to our stay. All the ingredients were farm fresh, either from the local fields or from Mandy's small herb garden just outside her kitchen. Mandy's genuine love for family and for cooking was in the forefront the full time, which made the food even better. We highly recommend anyone who visits the Hanoi area to take advantage of the marvelous experience Mandy offers. We hope to return to Hanoi again some day and will certainly do this again with Mandy! Enjoy. CB from Beijing
We welcomed 2018 with an early morning tour with Ms Manh in her village, a 20min ride from Hanoi. She gave us a comprehensive tour of the market, introducing all the local produce. What's really amazing is that they're all right from the farm behind the market! We then walked around the farm before going home to cook our lunch. Ms Manh is very candid in sharing her knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine and culture. We also met her family members along the way; all very warm and friendly. We would definitely recommend this as an alternative activity to experience everyday life like a local. Keep up the good work and wishing you all the best, Ms Manh!
It was very interesting, she could twll us alot about all the products and the way they worked on the farm. Cooking at her home was nice and thw food was delicious. A very welcoming experience
Mandy was very helpful right from the very beginning. We were in contact prior to our cooking class and she made it easy for us to meet her. We had an amazing experience and Mandy was such a wonderful host and showed us around her town, first by going to the local market, followed by walking around the local farms where we had met some of locals working away. The cooking class itself was a great experience overall and highly enjoyable. Food we cooked were absolutely tasty and we were more than satisfied by the end of it. Highly recommend this experience to everyone!! Thanks Mandy for being so hospitable, we had such a wonderful time and hope others are able to experience the same!
We had the most fantastic time on Ms Manh's cooking class. Ms Manh was such a lovely host and so welcoming. The day started with a tour of the local market, visiting all the farms and then returning to our hosts house for drinks and the cooking course. We found it fascinating to walk through the local farm plots and see all the different of fruit, vegetable and herbs being grown. It was one of our favourite experiences of our Vietnam trip. I would highly recommend this course if staying in Hanoi. It was great to get out of the city, have an insight into the real Vietnam and discover the local village, plus learn new skills and eat delicious food. It was lovely of Ms Manh to show us her home and village, plus she is a great teacher. I can't recommend this course highly enough!
The cooking class was great. Best choice. Went a bit outside of Hanoi to a small village. Manh went with us to the market and showed us arround. Explained everything and went with us to the garden of the village. Explained the different plants and told us bit about the life there. Then we went to her house and started the cooking. She showed us how to do it and her little daughter also helped us sometimes. The food was amazing and we learned a lot about the village and her life. All in all really great experience and day and we can totally recommend it!
An excellent way to experience the life of the village people and explore their day to day lives working on the farm. We got to meet some of the locals and help them out in their farms. Cooking was also excellent to experience, the food is amazing and it is all cooked with fresh ingredients from the local market. Mandy was very welcoming and educational, talking us through how the locals live and what day to day life is like in their village. Definitely recommend taking this class!
The family is lovely, and the tour gives a great and personal insight into the local life.
Farm to table.
We will leave Hanoi center and drive to the west of the city. I will see you at the meeting point. Firstly, you will visit a local market since Le King Dynasty(1428). It is the most famous market in the region where there are many traditional items for sales.
After that, you go to my house to cook delicious and traditional dishes, enjoy local fresh vegetable, fruit, make traditional cake and talk about Vietnamese family's custom together. I offer free tea and local drink.
