Erlinda was amazing from the start with an interesting market tour. Then onto her house/cooking school which was such a fun day with her ladies helping us all the way. We learnt so much about Indonesian cooking, made some wonderful meals, and got to eat them.. I would highly recommend this day to anyone, any age.

Local morning market visit was very informative and the hands on experience with fun staff make this a great experience away from the hustle & bustle.

From the market visit to breakfast then showing us all the ingredients and then the class itself we had such an amazing day. Great value for money and amazing staff.

The cooking class was amazing! The host is very knowledgeable and you get to learn a lot, not only about cooking, but also about Bali‘s culture and people! Throughout the market visit and the drive to the class Erlinda taught us a lot about Bali that we did not know yet. We also loved the breakfast in the green before the class. The class was arranged very professionally with super kind helpers and you get to cook a lot of food which you cannot even finish at lunch afterwards. Highly recommend Erlinda and her cooking school!

I attended this class with my husband and two teenager kids, who are not into cooking (unlike their parents). But to my delight, all 4 of us very much enjoyed the class. Erlanda and her team of local assistants are extremely professional and had thought about every nuanced aspect of the course. I can be a perfectionist, but in this particular case, honestly can't think of anything that I would change about the way the course was organised and conducted. The market visit was a big bonus, providing insights into Balinese culture and traditions. The course itself felt like cooking with friends and was very much fun as well as being informative/educational. What's more, what we cooked in the class was the tastiest food I had during our two week holiday. Also, as we were staying in a villa, we brought home enough food to feed us for the next couple of days. I highly recommend this cookery class.

Very good experience with very nice hosts. The cooking of 12 dishes gave us a great insight on the variety of balinese and indonesian cuisine, as well as the visit to the market in the morning. The dishes were delicious, i recommend this activity to anyone interested in cooking and balinese culture and traditions overall.

I loved the cooking class with Erlinda. From the hotel pick up to the traditional market, it was memorable. Erlinda gave us a unique hands on experience. We learnt a variety of dishes with ease. Erlinda had two people per cooking station plus a helper assigned to each one.My husband , Vivek enjoyed the class as well and participated fully. All the preparation was done in advance. We also enjoyed a Balinese breakfast before we started. After cooking , we had a sumptious lunch along with other participants.We were given a recipe book as well so could enjoy the experience without taking down notes. The whole experience straight from pick up was amazing. Basically one on one cooking experience. Made all our favourite dishes and lunch was what we cooked. Cleanliness 100% Attention to detail 100% Staff 100% Kept up the cold water, and ran fans and the air conditioning to keep us cool. There is not one thing I'd like to see changed. Was a fantastic day and worth every penny

The staff could not have been any more attentive than they were. The fun and laughter was encouraged and made easy by the friendliness of the group. The attention to detail was thoughtful and appreciated by the whole group. The rest of my group who decided not to be part of the day clearly regretted not going after hearing the stories!! Very informative, hands on and learning the techniques from scratch helps you remember the process. The teacher was very good at explaining everything and teaching us about new herbs and spices and adding them to dishes.

This was perfect from start to finish. Friendly and professional, lot’s of cooking (20 recipes!!) and fun. Learned a lot about the specific spices and vegetables that make the Indonesian cuisine so special.

Highlight of our Bali trip. We booked this last minute and were so pleased that we did. We learnt a lot about Bali culture during the market visit and cooking class and it was great fun. We cooked lots of food and had an incredible, very filling lunch. Don’t hesitate to book this.

Erlanda was a wonderful host. The setting in the rice fields was sublime. The food was scrumptious (don’t have a large breakfast beforehand as the lunch is huge). I would unreservedly recommend!

The whole experience was 10/10. From the Tanah Lot market experience to the incredible cooking experience, then to the guided tour around Tanah Lot. Market experience - A completely unique experience walking through Tanah Lot Market from stall to stall with detailed explanations of all the items for sale. Cooking class - The main focus, an incredibly involving, fun and informative experience. The recipe book perfectly details all the meals made, making it easy to replicate at home! Tanah Lot guided tour - The Tanah Lot guided tour was the cherry on top! The experience was awesome, our funny and witty guide took plenty of photos in all the best spots and also provided plenty of information about the temple and its ceremonies.

Cannot rate this experience high enough. One of the best day outings I have had.

We've taken quite a few in our travels. The full-day cooking class was awesome. Erlinda and her crew were so fun and engaging. And they were such a well-oiled machine. There were times when they would switch out for one another and you barely even noticed. There were only the two of us on our day but I can imagine it gets crazy with a lot more people. The food was incredible and we're already talking about which recipes we're going to make again at home. Unfortunately, there was way too much food for us to complete. But every but was delicious. I would 100% recommend Erlinda and her crew.

The cooking class was a very authentic experience. We were picked up at Canggu at 8 in the morning. Then we went to an authentic Balinese market, where Erlinda explained to us every Balinese ingredient, as well as traditions one can expect in a traditional market. After that Erlinda took us to her beautiful home and well-equipped cooking studio. Where we got a yummy breakfast and learned how to cook 14 Balinese recipes from scratch, without artificial ingredients or sauces, the atmosphere was terrific and we had such a good time. We also got help from her very friendly helpers. The food and dishes tasted so good. It was amazing how much we cooked in that short period. I would say this was a very authentic and non-touristic experience. I would recommend it and do it again.

One of the best cooking classes I’ve ever done! We started with a market tour where we were shown all the produces that are used in Balinese cooking. We also sampled some snacks. We then went back to the cooking school where we had a delightful breakfast of Balinese sweets we had never seen before! Every need was taken care of! Erlinda and her lovely ladies run a very professional clocking school but at the same time you feel like you are learning to cook Balinese and Indonesian cuisine at home It is hands on at your own station with help from the lovely Erlinda and house ladies. Be ready for lots of cooking after you attended the local traditional produce markets to learn about some of the ingredients you will be using. Also you have your own recipe book of all the recipes and techniques also to make your own notes if wanted

Erlinda you are a chef and teacher of 5-star distinction!!! The day was spent learning not only about the Balinese culture and cuisine but also extend to preparing authentic dishes from other regional parts of Indonesia. Erlinda breaks down the seemingly complicated exotic tastes and mouthwatering flavors of Indonesian dishes into bite-size lessons that are immersive, dynamic, and fun—starting at the local traditional market, then moving on to her vegetable and herb garden, proceeding with prep work and cooking of multiple dishes, and lastly devouring what was just created. Ibu Astrid and Ibu Abi were most helpful. They assisted in the entire cooking experience helping to teach and demonstrate the technique of using the Ulekan (mortar and pestle) to the general cleaning that makes the entire experience seamless. Erlinda only uses help from the local unsung heroines “Ibu rumah tangga” (housewives) of the neighborhood. MEXX Cooking School will have you leaving the day equipped with new knowledge and skills you can immediately implement into your daily cooking routines. I learned a ton while having a blast. What a treat! I would highly recommend this school.

We had such a wonderful experience during this class. Erlinda was very knowledgeable and informative. She took the time to teach us about the local customs and explain the ingredients and different cuisines with us. The staff were all so amazing and helpful as well. We had an amazing time!

It was the best day. The girls explained everything to the T, They were amazing and so much fun. They made us feel like royalty. The food we cooked out of this world. Loved every minute of it.

From start to finish, the whole cooking experience was fantastic! We started our morning with a 7:30am pick up via our host from our hotel with a visit to the local market. We then headed to our hosts home and we were welcomed with a breakfast and coffee before heading downstairs to an excellent professional kitchen where we made some absolutely delicious food with the help of two additional lovely ladies who were on hand to assist us with the dishes. We then headed back upstairs with a welcome beer or a choice of cold drinks , the food that we cooked was presented to us in beautiful dished which we were then able to enjoy! What a truly fabulous experience!! Thank you ever so much

Erlinda has a wonderful talent in making everyone (despite the skills) enjoy their time around food and cooking while introducing at the same time some parts of the local food culture and every day life. It was a privilege to meet the local ladies she works with and we enjoyed the kitchen “chat”. Erlinda has a beautiful setting for the kitchen class at her home and the recipes are professionally prepared and thanks to her international working experience she also can explain how to prepare the food in the recipes at home (e.g. replacement ingredients). Can recommend wholeheartedly!

the class exceeded our expectations! They are recipes that we can really reproduce in our country. We were on our honeymoon and it was a unique experience on our Indonesian trip. They are very professional and friendly.

One of our favorite experiences when traveling in foreign countries is to take a local cooking class. This experience was exceptional, professional, and memorable. Perfect in every way. We cooked a variety of local favorites including Mie Goreng, Nasi Gorden, Soto Ayam, sambal, and several other items. Erlinda and her team were amazing and delightful to spend the afternoon with. They do some of the prep work of measuring portion sizes and chopping up some small items in advance so you spend your time in the kitchen doing the more interesting / rewarding work. The setting is pure tranquility and a lovely space to enjoy the feast you just cooked!

I don’t cook, but Erlinda made me cook and yes I loved it! Traditional Bali and Indonesian favourites shown simply. Knowing how to cook Mer Goreng noodles and Nadi Goreng properly is great! It’s so simple and we learned the special tricks that make it so much more tastier! We will be back and bring our friends! And DON’T eat breakfast!!😂

From the minute we were picked up from our hotel the team were awesome! The market visit was short and informative, the Bali breakfast, coffees and views were amazing and the team was so welcoming. We had great fun in the kitchen learning lots and all “ hands on” which was just what we wanted. 10 amazing dishes cooked. A fabulous easy to follow recipe book and inspiring and basic Bali dishes to cook when we get home!

We really enjoyed all the delicious food we made and the staff were exceptional in their help and explanation of everything. Ir was a most enjoyable time at Mexx the cooking school and I will highly recommend it to my friends.

We really didn’t know what to expect. All the staff were beyond excellent, especially Asterid ( class leader , not sure of her name spelling) Bob and Abby. The lesson was outstanding and the materials to take home were super and appreciated. The quality and taste of the food was 5 star quality in food and service. Beyond that they accommodated a 5 month old baby while we were cooking. There driver met us after the class with an item we forgot in his car. This was one of the main reasons we came to Bali, all our dreams came true. Thank you so much.

The class was fantastic. Erlinda and the other staff were so friendly and so welcoming. The class was very well organised. The pick up was on time, the tour to the traditional market was very interesting, and the cooking class was marvellous. We did the full-day class and made 19 dishes! The menu changes annually; we will be back for more classes in the future. I recommend this class to anyone visiting Bali.

We had so much fun and the food we cooked was so fresh and delicious. The group is small so you get a lot of attention and they answer all your questions. Their school is in a more rural area of Bali so that makes it even more fun. Erlinda is super passionate and you can tell! Loved it!

Erlinda's bright nature lifted the atmosphere at the start. She shared her knowledge of the area making the trip to her home enjoyable. Out of 5 star rating, we’d give Erlinda a 10! She has created such a great experience from shopping in the market to learn about food, spices, and Indonesian culture to tasting a typical local breakfast. All this before beginning to cook a range of Indonesian recipes to create a true feast for lunch. The kitchen is set up so well, it allowed everyone to cook every recipe and learn technique, spices, and food combinations. She was so also able to accommodate dietary restrictions without problem. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this program

Thanks to cooking class, my understanding of all meals in Bali has since increased. Cooking classes were informative, as well as making and tasting various Indonesian foods. The quality of food was better than any subsequent restaurant. The place where you eat is also nice and the course progress is very systematic and neat. If you are thinking about a cooking class in Bali, I highly recommend it.

We started with the market tour which was fantastic as we learnt a lot about local fruits and vegetables. The class was very hands on with a local housewife watching over us as we cooked. Time went so fast and the food we made was amazing. We made 9 dishes and feasted on what we made at the end and sampled some of the other students meals. The work stations were well set out. The only downside to the class was not having more time with the chef as 98% of her time was spent with the vegetarian couples in the class. We were a little disappointed as her knowledge would have been invaluable to our experience. I recommendmend this class.

We only had 3 days in Bali and SO happy we decided to do the cooking class with MEXX. It was a great hands-on experience, and very educational. The trip to the market prior to the class was insightful, and Erlinda's home/cooking school location was beautiful!

What an amazing cooking class! If you are looking for an activity that we delight not only your eyes but also your tastebuds, then you have come to the right place! This cooking class combines traditional Indonesian food and Balinese cooking techniques. They picked me up from the hotel and we had a visit to the local market to get our fresh ingredients. Then we went straight to Erlinda's kitchen. The ambiance was relaxing, clean and organized. It was a picture perfect scenario of traditional Indonesian experience. At the end of the course, we were able to learn 9 Balinese dishes, shared it with one another and had a great time, conversation and laughter. I will definitely be back!

We went on the 13th of September to MEXX cooking school. Erlinda (host/chef-instructor) picked us up from our hotel, to go to the traditional market. Great explanation of the herbs, spices and vegetables. The Cooking itself was at her home in a specially designed area with plenty of room. We cooked several nice courses, which actually was fun to do! After that the self made rise-table was served and tasted really good! I would recommend this culinary cooking class to everybody who's planning to go to Bali!

The kids and I really enjoyed the cooking course with Erlinda. The food and drinks were delicious. But it is not just about the cooking - the full package left me with a memorable experience. The story of Erlinda and Markus, and how they built their life in Bali is fascinating. Their wonderful home in the middle of herbal plants and fruit trees is a great location for cooking. After the cooking course the visit to the Tanah Lot temple with Erlindas personal attention was great! Pick up from and drop back to Seminyak was very comfortable.

We visited the temple with her and were treated like family. Her school is neat Tanah Lot in the middle of rice fields. Peaceful and beautiful. Her driver was very safe. Once in a lifetime experience- but we will be back to do it all again.

Onwijs vriendelijke mensen die graag vertellen over Bali, de specerijen, groenten en andere dingen die je tijdens de workshop tegenkomt. Wij hebben de full day workshop gedaan, met een bezoek aan een traditionele markt, een ontbijt, een lunch, een les over de kruiden, een proeferij van lokaal tropisch fruit, een diner en het maken van een eigen offermandje. En dat alles op een mooie locatie!

We enjoyed this cooking class a lot! Great chef, amazing food, great atmosphere, and a wonderful villa with a gorgeous view of rice fields and the ocean! It's a must for everyone visiting Bali and looking for a suggested cooking experience.

This is the best cooking class I have done and I’ve done 3 others. My second time there. It was a different experience again. Very informative and the staff are wonderful. Hands on and the food is delicious . Awesome time had by all. I would recommend doing this class.

My Mum and I chose this cooking School because they have a full day program with a tour of the markets. We were not disappointed. I have been to cooking schools in Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia and this was by far the best one. The day consisted of being driven from our hotel, market tour with explanations, traditional breakfast, herb explanations, tour of their own home garden, cooking entree's and then eating them on the balcony overlooking a divine view. For the rest of the day we cooked main courses and desert and then ate even more. Not just three dishes either....we cooked 17 dishes!! Erlinda, Abbi and Mega were just delightful with traditional stories of Balinese culture, interesting Hindu facts and a lot of fun and laughs. Interestingly Marcus (Erlinda's husband) is starting another business which just looks amazing - called the Bali Fat Bike Cycling. This is a fat tyre electric bike tour along the rice terraces and the beach with breakfast and lunch cooked by Marcus who was a chef on a large cruise liner. Afterwards they even have a beautiful pool on their property you can swim in. The new business starts on Monday 21 May 2018. If we were staying longer I would definitely have done that to experience more of this families charming hospitality. 5 stars from me. A must do in Bali. :)

The best cooking class I have ever been on. Erlinda and her helpers were amazing from the time we were picked up until we got back to villa was amazing. We learned so much and cooked and ate food better than any Indonesian restaurant we have been to. Highly recommended!

Awesome experience

From the minute we were collected from our Villa we had a professional, educational and fun day. Erlinda was knowledgeable, friendly and very professional. The cooking school is extremely well laid out in a very quiet, picturesque and calming environment. What can I say about the cooking experience?... AWESOME, interesting, delicious and enjoyable. I have been to cooking classes in many countries but this was the best by far.. DO IT..... A FANTASTIC DAY OUT

Going into this program I hadn’t any idea what to expect as I hadn’t read any reviews or had done much research at the time I booked. MIND BLOWN. The experience was especially impressive as I am a solo traveler. Erlinda is by far one of the most interesting, knowledgeable and grounded humans I’ve met. She’s personable, attentive and really goes above/beyond. Tour was beautiful. Erlinda picked me up at my hotel after dropping her two kids off to school and we rode to a local market. She stopped to explain every sort of fruit/vegetable there was - smelling, feeling, etc. Everything we reviewed was built into lessons I learned later today when we got into the kitchen. The actual kitchen space is a part of her house. It’s location is remote and peaceful among fields of vegitation (she actual grows a number of ingredients you use in her own yard!). The class was entirely hands on and even came with a recipe book I could take notes in - perfect. At the end of the experience I was extended the opportunity to stuff my face with the smorgasbord I had created (photo attached). We rounded out our time together with a trip to Tanah Lot temple. Erlinda was so well versed and had answers to every question I threw at her. On my next trip to Bali, I will most certainly be returning. Thank you again Erlinda!!

Everything about the class was amazing, from the pickup, to the market tour, the lesson on herbs and spices, the cooking itself as well as the lunch overlooking the beautiful green paddy fields. Erlinda even showed us the traditional way to cook rice and to blend the spices using a mortar and pestle - indeed an eye opener for a city dweller like me.

Booked the full day Cooking Class and had the most fantastic day! Erlinda and her team took great care of me and I learned a lot. Not only about cooking Balinese & Indonesian food from scratch, but also about herbs & spices used in the kitchen and exotic fruits most of them grown in their own garden. We started off with a traditional market tour and afterwards had yummy Balinese breakfast on their spacious terrace overlooking the beautiful rice fields. All of the dishes cooked were delicious, but my favorites the Balinese Spicy Green Papaya Soup & the Beef Rendang. Thank you so much again for an unforgettable day! I can highly recommend this cooking class to everyone!

MEXX The Cooking School was wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Erlinda and her staff. The market visit was very informative. I really enjoyed the fruit tasting and spice demonstration. We cooked a feast and we’re able to enjoy the delicious meal. I will be using the recipes and techniques when I go home. Bring your appetite and camera!

Best cooking class we could imagine. Great guidance, deep knowledge, amazing food in a perfectly modern place. Our best day in Bali sound far :)

Our great experience commenced at our pick up time, being greeted by the lovely Erlinda and her very professional driver in her impressive cooking school van. Visiting the local market was a fun experience you can not enjoy truly unless is done with a knowledgeable local and Erlinda gave us great information on local fruits, vegetables, coconut grinding etc - all ingredients purchased fresh for our cooking class. Back at her cooking school we were greeted by her lovely staff and a very refreshing Papaya smoothie made from her home grown produce. The actual class was fantastic and the end result was very generous and succulent - we couldn’t fit one more rice grain in to us! We even left with our own recipe book!! We recommend Erlinda to anyone visiting Bali as a must do!!
