Great authentic cooking with a great lady in her traditional own home. Loved everything about the cooking and the food was really fantastic.

A great course in beautiful surroundings, with a wonderful teacher. It was fun, informative and we learnt how to produce delicious food. We also enjoyed the market tour we did before the course. I would thoroughly recommend this course.

From the start learning all about Balinese culture and the traditional family compound we were in , right through to the delicious lunch we revelled in, this was a class act. We had an amazing experience at Ubad Ubud with Ayu who was really nice, she took the time to explain Indonesian culture and she was a very great cooking teacher. We were delighted by the many different meals that we prepared, thank you very much for this amazing afternoon !

We really enjoyed this class. The surroundings were beautiful and our teacher was great. We enjoyed every moment including eating all the food at the end!

It was an authentic experience that we could get to know the Balinese culture. We had a cooking lesson in a beautiful household, which allowed me to learn more about Balinese architecture and the relationship of the community. We got to learn 7-course meals, the process was fun, and we delivered an extremely delicious meal with the help of the family. Amazing experience, recommend it to everyone to try.

We loved the class!! Our teacher was so easy to understand, and to hear about the culture while eating welcome food! Working in the kitchen was so easy, and fun! Loved it!!

From the moment we were picked up from our accommodation by the friendly and pleasant driver Ketut to the end of the class, I was highly impressed! Ketut drove us to the market, where locals shopped for fresh food and explained the various ingredients. We were then driven to the class. The entire team - the lovely informative owner (mother-in-law - please forgive me for forgetting the names), the beautiful daughter-in-law, who conducted the class, and all the team were very friendly, highly organized, and worked efficiently. The owner explained to us the Balinese culture, the setup of the family system, spirituality, etc. which gave a very good insight and understanding of Bali and its people. We gained a very good understanding of the different ingredients used in Balinese cooking and the methods used in the preparation. Best of all the teaching style was through involvement, which meant every participant got to physically do the preparation and the cooking. The setup of the house with two huge teaching areas made it easy for the organizers to divide us into two groups. We were a group of six, which was a manageable size. At the end of the class, we all enjoyed the food that was presented in a buffet style. The daughter-in-law (apologies for forgetting the name) beautifully packed food for my daughter, who could not attend the class due to illness. Thank you so much! I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in learning new skills.

Our hostess was smart, knowledgeable, and funny. She welcomed us with drinks and snacks and gave us some personal insight into Indonesian culture and society. She spent time discussing the different types of ingredients (and letting us taste them) that went into Indonesian cooking. Nine dishes are impossible to make all on our own in a short period, but we divided tasks and participated in all the dishes while a skilled team of helpers then took our efforts and combined them into something better. The other participants were fun to talk to and the food was delicious. Absolutely a class I would recommend to others.

Getting to know the culture through our hostess’ experiences are wonderful. She is smart and very funny. Her explanations of cooking techniques were excellent and it was nice to have a copy of all the recipes. There were only 11 of us but it made it fun. Great food, too!

We loved this class. We learned a lot about Balinese culture. We made so many dishes, and everyone got to participate in each dish. They were so very organized and I can't believe how much we learned and accomplished, from the local market to the kitchen. This was one of the best classes I have ever taken while traveling.

My 18 year old son and I thoroughly enjoyed the cooking course. We only booked it the night before but the car arrived on time and everything worked like clockwork. The course was very well run, we went to the market first and were show all the local produce including what we would be using them were welcomed to the hosts house. On the course itself we cooked 7 dishes together including fish, meat and vegetable dishes that we got to eat at the end (there is a lot so don’t have a big breakfast). The dishes were delicious. We were also given a recipe book for all of the dishes we cooked. In all I would thoroughly recommend this course, content, organisation and value for money were excellent. Finally all our hosts were absolutely charming and never stopped smiling which was a delight.

The cooking class was so much fun. We got a welcome drink and some explanation of the indonesian culture wich was really interesting and nice! The food was delicious and the yellow sauce is something I will definitely make at home!! Their pets are the cutest. Really enjoyed this experience!!!

Hele leuke kookklas gevolgd bij UBAD UBUD BALI. Er werd niet alleen over koken uitgelegd, maar over de tradities in Bali over wonen en huwelijk Voorafgaand aan het koken een traditionele markt bezocht. Na de klas kregen we de recepten mee zodat we deze thuis ook kunnen maken

After they picked us up we went on a local market tour with a guide who explained a lot and helped us buy local fruit for local prices. When we got back we got a nice drink and local snack and they told us more about their traditions which was very interesting! Then the cooking started and it was a lot of fun. It was well prepared, well explained and very traditional. The food was amazing and we got a recipe book to try it at home. Would definitely recommend!!!

Me and my husband really enjoyed this cooking class. We made so many different local Balinese food, the flavors were so good. Our cooking teacher was really professional, we learned a lot. We also had a great trip down to the local food market. Thank you

We cooked the food from the ground and it turned out very tasty

This was an experience we will never forget. There was a lot of explaining about the food, vegetables, herbs an also the daily living in a compound. We cooked 9 dishes. We can hardly recomend this cooking class.

This definitely will be one of our favorite experiences in Bali. Where can I begin. A beautiful home filled with beautiful people. I loved how they greeted us with delicacies and freshly squeezed orange juice and introduced their culture and traditions to us. The host explained everything in detail whether it be about their culture or the food. Let us smell and taste some of the spices. We learned to cook with the son of the host and what a sweetheart he was. A nice young man who made us feel at home and taught us well. He was interested in learning about our culture as well which was nice because we all felt connected like we were family rather than students who are only there to learn to cook. The entire cooking session was organized very well. And the presentation of everything whether it be spices or the meals looked absolutely beautiful! All the used utensils and plates moved out of our way at the right time which made the session run smoothly. This definitely will be an unforgettable experience for us and I would truly recommend everyone to experience this class because I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed:)

Absolutely amazing experience with funny, experienced and friendly staff, beautiful family residence, where you can also get an powerful healing session from Made Lunas. Simply a well organized activity, including pick-up and drop-off, visit to local food market, information about the Balinese (family) culture and a booklet with the recipes of 9 delicious Balinese dishes we have cooked in a small group and eaten afterwards.

If you are looking for a perfect organised, traditional balinese cooking class in a very clean kitchen at a family house, you are absolutely right! The evening was more than we expected, no rush, not too long, super friendly, perfect english und so tasty! Try it!

not only does one get a cooking class you get a look into the homes and culture of the Bali people while enjoying the most delicious food. Plenty of instructors to guide you and near perfect English leave you satisfied beyond your stomach.

We highly recommend this cooking class to everyone loving food, Balinese culture as well as having a blast. The whole event was very well organized from pick up to drop off. We had such a great time chatting about culture and the life and practicing traditional Balinese cooking. We cooked different meals from soups to desserts and enjoyed all of them. Above all we were lucky to be just the 2 of us so we could use it as an romantic dinner on top. This event is worth every money and you should not miss it on your stay in Bali!

This was one of the highlights of our entire Bali trip! The class was so well organized, the team was so welcoming and wonderful, and we loved learning not only about Balinese food but Balinese culture as well.

One of the highlights of the trip. We were welcomed into the home of Ayu, who was warm and friendly. The whole experience was well planned and done with excellence! Food was delicious and we even came away with a recipe book to replicate the traditional food. Ayu is an amazing cook and offered a wealth of knowledge on culture and tradition. Just a little note: the morning market is a bit overwhelming for sensitive viewers.

Love the way they present us about the culture. I learn a lot how they eat, how they live and how they cook! A real hands on experience.

The host was charismatic, welcoming and generous in providing insightful information about Balinese culture, family life and life in a Balinese home (structure of the compound, rituals and habits). The morning started with a visit of the market. Then we cooked several dishes and enjoyed tasting the results. An entire dedicated team is assisting guests in every step, making the experience very smooth and enjoyable. Bravo for running such a tight show, in a short time, for quite a few guests!

The whole experience was great. We loved all of the information shared with us about the culture in Bali and the daily living and way of life of the people. The food was out of this world, so fresh and tasty. We also really liked learning about the healung properties of all of the spices. The people where so friendly and helpful. We would definately recommend this as a must do activity when in Bali

It was amazing and super interesting to learn so much about Balinese culture and food in such a nice surrounding. The whole day was perfectly organized and the food was simply delicious. Everybody was so friendly and helpful.

We had a 4 hour class, starting with a tour of the traditional market (really interesting) and a lot of explanations of the Balinese culture ! We also prepared 8 gorgeous meals and could taste all of them !! This was a real immersion ! Thank you 🙏! Prepare your stomach everyone !

This was a highlight on our trip, we have nothing but good things to say about this class! We loved that it included a trip to the market, and we really enjoyed the chance to learn about Balinese culture both in the market and from our hostess at the compound. The food was AMAZING and even in our group of about 12 everyone got to be very hands on and got appropriate instruction. Definitely add this to your to-do list for Ubud!

We were a group of 6 friends and loved this class so much. The host gave us a great introduction with a short insight into the history and the cultural background of Bali, and proceeded to tell us all about the ingredients we were using and how each dish fit into that culture. The food was delicious and the hosts home was a beautiful traditional Balinese home, we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great cooking experience!

Aju is a very good teacher and made us feel very welcome at her house. The food was delicious. First she gave us some information about her house, family and culture, which was very nice. And after that we startder the course, she explains her dishes with passion and pride, which made us very ecited to cool!

Ayu was absolutely charming and extremely engaging. The whole set-up is extremely professional and smooth, making very good use of our few hours with her. It was not just a culinary experience, but a full-on cultural one - she took a lot of time to explain familial traditions and customs, so we walked away with recipes, full bellies, and enriched minds.

The host was extremely friendly and made us feel at home. We arrived late due to traffic conditions and instead of letting us miss out on what the rest of the class have already went through, they specially allocated us a private session so that we could get the full experience as well. The food was really good and we really gained insights on the Balinese cooking culture. However, if you would like to mingle with the rest of the class, don't be late haha

Transport to and from the compound was well organised. The afternoon started with a drink and snack and intro from the host about Balinese life and family culture, which was very interesting. We were then introduced to all the meals and ingredients we would be using and then made all the dishes. All the food was healthy and delicious and we really enjoyed the experience!

Ayu was an excellent host and had great English. She welcomed us into her traditional Balinese home which was the perfect venue for an authentic cooking class with plenty of space and was well equipped. Ayu also told us great information about Balinese traditional life that we never would have known without doing the cookery class. Definitely recommend:)

The cooking course at Ubad was fantastic. The hostess was delightful, spoke excellent English and taught us about the culture in a personal way that we have not found anywhere in Bali. The food was the best we’ve eaten here (and possibly the cheapest!!) and we made it all ourselves. Can not recommend this enough! An absolute must if you’re visiting Bali.

Did this class with my dad, his partner my husband and 2 kids. We all had a wonderful time! The market tour was so colorful and all the locals loved my kids so smiley and happy. When we got back to the cooking school there was a lovely welcome snake before we started. The class was really well run with lovely staff. Could not folt this experience very good value for money.

Host & Family! The staff made everyone felt at home. The whole experience was more enjoyable than i had expected. Should definitely include this in the itinerary for any Ubud trip.

If you are looking for a unique culture adventure, then this is the right place. We went to the local market and we were able to experience firsthand fresh ingredient picking. The locals were also very welcoming and they were also able to explain the importance of each ingredient and what could be their alternative back home. The market was very clean and organized. They also taught us how to choose the right herbs and spices. We also had the chance to enjoy the fresh air at Tengkulak Village. Chef Ayo was very professional and humorous. While teaching us Balinese dishes, she also explained the history of each dishes. Her staff was accommodating. Best culinary experience! Great for beginners and professionals! Best way to experience the heart of the country.

The class was well organized and very informative. I would recommend to have this experience on the travelling bucket list to Bali. Had fun time!

If you are looking for a traditional Balinese cooking class then look no further! Ayo and her family/team made us feel so welcome in their home. Complimentary drink and delicious sweet snack on arrival, whilst she described the Balinese compound and how a traditional Balinese family lives. She then lead us through to her kitchen where the magic happens! We got to prepare the ingredients for each dish ourselves, including the ‘magic sauce’, tasting along the way. We really loved the hands-on aspect. They showed us the traditional ways in which rice is steamed and ingredients pummelled and the time and effort it takes to produce these amazing dishes for their families. The group was lead to a dining area at each course where we could enjoy our creations together and socialize. Ayo and her team were all so friendly and helpful throughout. You also go home with a recipe book of the dishes prepared so you are able to try and recreate them at home - Ayo suggests switches if you are unable to get all ingredients at home! The atmosphere was great and we thoroughly enjoyed this experience - one of our favourite in Bali. Thank you Ayo! #delish

This was such a unique experience. The family was kind enough to pick and drop us, provide us with breakfast and give us a very interesting description of life in Bali, before proceeding to teach us to cook one of the most delicious meals i've had. The experience is extremely professional- with printed menu cards to take home, a lot of helpers weaving in and out seamlessly to make the process smooth, we did not waste even a second. Would recommend to anyone visiting Bali!

Absolutely brilliant cookery class with fantastic background into the culture of Indonesian cooking and lifestyle. We loved being able to prepare all the ingredients and dishes ourselves after a brilliant education on all the ingredients . We truly felt at home, will recommend to everyone.

It was truly amazing to cook in a Balinese house. I cannot remember the teachers name but she was so lovely and made us feel like part of the family. She explained a lot about her life and the Balinese culture which we found really interesting. The food was delicious! Overall, it was an amazing authentic Balinese experience.

She tells you about the everyday and experience of the Balinese and opens the floor throughout the class to any questions you might have about Bali. I will definitely be doing this again next time in Bali.

The lady who gives the class is very friendly and during the afternoon she shared quite some cultural information which was really interesting. Also well organized and the timing was perfect. Wonderful experience with Ubad Ubud Bali cooking class. Ayu was really nice? Explaining Balineese traditions not only about food but also about way of life, religion... The place where we cooked where beautiful, plants everywhere. Kitchen was very clean and dishes were delicious. I highly recommend them !

The woman who gave us the cooking class was so nice, really sweet and she told us a lot about the traditions in Bali. She was very personal and relax. The cooking class was very Nice, we Made so many dishes. You really should go to this school in Ubud. I loved it!

Was a fun class however a lot of the prep was done for you and meal creation was split amongst group. Can’t fault the family of ubad ubud. Perfect for beginner cooks!

The cooking class was really fun and we learned a lot. Very hands-on and clear class on how to make delicious food. The family home is beautiful and a great location the enjoy your homemade dinner!

The hostess/cheff is amazing, she is very open about her life, family and culture what makes it so much more than just a coocking class. The coocking is done in a fun way with good instructions, we were with 4 friends en were the only participants, we aren't great coocks at home but we could easily follow the steps. The food was really nice and the hostess kept letting us taste our dishes during the coocking to make sure we liked it. We had an amazing experienxe with a lovely family!

I would highly recommend this class even if you have limited time in Bali.
