This was the perfect intro into Vietnamese cooking. Lua gave our family a private cooking class, and provided details about the different regions and the ingredients. She is very knowledgeable, and provides a detailed instructions about how to adjust and change each recipe depending on taste. Worth the price!!!!! Don't Miss out.
I personally had a great time! The class passed by very quickly, and I learned quite a few things about Vietnamese food (and culture). I felt a bit Vietnamese myself for a while :)
Lua’s cooking class ended up being one of the highlights of our time in Vietnam! I can’t recommend the class enough. Lua is so kind and taught us so much about cooking Vietnamese food. The class ended up being just two of us and she accommodated our dietary restrictions so well - she made vegan and regular versions of all the dishes while teaching me tips about vegan cooking I had never heard. Not only is the class fun and the food delicious, Lua welcomes you into her home so kindly. The view from the apartment is amazing. We happened to book the class on the first day of a festival in the city and Lua let us stay late to watch the fireworks along the river with some of her family members. The entire experience was perfection! Thank you Lua!
We learnd new vietnamis dishes and we had lots of fun while cooking. Emily explaind us a lot about the ingredients and the Food in the end was very delicious.
I had the pleasure of joining twice, and each time was an unforgettable experience. Lua herself is incredibly friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you step in. Her passion for Vietnamese cuisine is contagious, and her expertise shines through as she guides you through each dish with patience and enthusiasm. The classes are not only informative but also a lot of fun. Lua has a knack for making even the most intricate recipes seem approachable, and her hands-on teaching style ensures that everyone gets involved and learns something new. I left each class feeling empowered and inspired to recreate the delicious dishes at home.
It was a really fun and enjoyable activity. It’s nice that there aren’t too many people as well, so you feel like you actually learn something. Lua was a really nice host and also very helpful. Moreover, we got some nice recommendations on where to find certain local foods and drinks. Definitely worth it.
Lua explained the cooking so easy, and each participant are willing to join in the cooking. Even she allowed to use her room as my house during the cooking class and recommended good place to look around near her house and Ho Chi Minh city. I also took a street food tour from her and easy to enjoy and understand the local foods! I will visit the cooking class again when I visit Ho Chi Minh next time!
Lua's cooking class was such a great experience. I am vegetarian and Lua showed me how to make the most delicious tofu and how to adapt classic Vietnamese food to be vegetarian. Lua was friendly and talented and it was great to get to know her!
The class was perfect! We went at the end of our trips so we knew certain dishes that we loved in Vietnam and wanted to learn how to make them to continue enjoying them at home. Lua taught us each of our requested dishes and was patient and kind! We highly recommend it! I enjoyed class with her, and she was so sweet and accommodating when we were a full 50 minutes behind schedule! Recommend to anyone to come to her cooking school!
I took a cooking class with Lua and it was a really good experience. Lua is kind and doesn't hesitate to share her knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine and culture. The meal was excellent, thank you, Lua!
We had such a blast cooking with Lua. It was the last night of our Vietnam trip and it was such an excellent way to conclude our travels. She is personable, knowledgeable and taught us lots of things about cooking Vietnamese style. The food was delicious. Highly recommend.
Lua is a great and fun cooking teacher. his kitchen is impeccably equipped and filled with good products. The recipes were excellent and exciting to cook in a small group. Thanks again for the great time and emailing the recipes, can't wait to make another pho at home!
Very nice host, delicious food and very good instructions and explanations.
My family had a great time through the cooking class. It was good to know how to cook exotic Vietnamese food for the first time. The teacher was kind and considerate. It was a more enjoyable time because the students who took the class together were pleasant. I bought some of the good ingredients that I learned from her that I couldn't buy in Korea at the mart. When I go back home after the trip, I'm going to make the dish that I learned from her.
I booked the vegan cooking class with Lua for my father and me. We wanted to learn how to cook popular Vietnamese dishes for when we are back in Germany. We had a lot of fun with Lua and learned three easy and delicious dishes. Spring rolls which we have already loved and eaten a lot in Vietnamese restaurants in GER. Banh Xeo which we discovered some days ago in the Mekong Delta and we were curious about to learn what it contains in detail. And a banana coconut dessert, a perfect fit since I love bananas. Lua created a great environment and learning more about herself and the Vietnamese cuisine was a blast. Thanks for that great afternoon Lua. :)
We loved the very personal touch to this immersive cooking experience. We enjoy cooking and we’re not looking for a basic cooking class but one where we got also got learn about the cultural aspect of food, cooking traditions etc. For us this experience perfectly met our need. Lua was delightful and was flexible with the menu etc. Cooking in Lua’s kitchen gave it a very personal touch.
Lua was a warm, hospitable host who taught us how to make several homestyle Vietnamese dishes. Great conversation and food!
It was like a private class as it was only me and my boyfriend. We enjoyed it very much. Lua tells us every step and where we can get the products in Germany. Everything taste pretty good. The evening was a highlight of our Vietnam trip.
Lua was super nice, we’ll prepared, very friendly and calm and explained everything really well. The food was delicious and she had a meal planned with respect to my dietary restrictions— I am grateful and happy I did this!
Thanks to Lua we were able to find about how the home made Vietnamese cooking looks like and tastes. It was more a meeting or gathering with purpose to cook together and eat together than actual class and we liked it this way. Lua created very relaxed atmosphere amd you get to meet other travelers which is simply great.
We had a wonderful evening with Lua in her pretty kitchen and sooo delicious food! She explained every new to us! I can highly recommend this :)
100% recommended
Lua warmly welcomed us at her home and we really enjoyed learning some typicals vietnamese recipes. Her explanations was really easy to understand, her recipes were so tasty and then, after the class, she sent us the recipes for references. It was a nice experience to do a cooking class in small group.
Lua was an incredible host with the sweetest apartment. It was an absolute joy to have a small private class in a true local home. We absolutely loved the class and the hospitality. Highly recommend! She’s the best!
We really enjoyed Lua's class -- her cooking skills, friendliness and adaptability. We asked to make stuffed turmeric pancakes, banh xeo, which isn't on Lua's extensive list of items to cook. Lua accommodated us, teaching us how to make a savory pork-prawn-mushroom filling and light, crispy pancakes, which we ate folded into lettuce leaves and herbs. While making fresh summer rolls and a banana pudding, we discussed the differences between northern and southern Vietnamese food and cultures, shared details about Lau's and our backgrounds, learned how she decided to teach cooking, and where she and we have traveled in Vietnam and internationally. A fun morning, delicious (and healthy) lunch, and super company. What could be better?
Lua shows us how to cook a Vietnamese meal. She tells, shows us en let us try ourselves. The story about the products , tips what and where to buy are a surplus.
The class with Lua was really authentic. We cook at Lua’s apartment it’s more authentic than in a restaurant or cooking school. Lua was really kind and she well explained the recipes.
What a wonder full experience made us feel so welcome in her own home
Small group, you feel like you came to dinner to a friend's place. The host is friendly, take the time to explain and give some tips. Everything is cooked with fresh food and herbs. Definitely the best Pho we tasted in Vietnam.
Very nice experience in a friendly house!
Lua was very friendly and inviting. She hosted our small group in her apartment where we were warmly welcomed. Lua has been cooking since she was a young child. The years of experience in cooking traditional Vietnamese food was evident in the deliciousness of the flavours in the dishes. Together we cooked a sensational and flavoursome 3 course meal. Lua was very accommodating to a vegan diet and provided us with the recipes for us to replicate at home. If you’re in Ho Chi Minh, it’s a must do!! Thanks Lua!
We spent a great time as Luas place. We cooked good food and had interresting conversations. Lua, Thank you for this unique experience!
The cooking class was not only fun, but also really instructive. We learned several techniques in just a few hours (e.g. using caramel to add flavor to fish) and had a very tasty lunch at the end. Lua was very friendly and knowledgeable and it was great to get some insights into Vietnamese culture from her. Would definitely recommend the experience while in Saigon.
It was everything we expected...intimacy, attention, learning, loving the dishes cooked.
Looking forward to trying recipes at home
A perfect afternoon full of laugh ! We were only 4 at this class which was perfect for us! Lua is a perfect cooker & a very good teacher !!! We had a wonderful time! Do not hesitate to book it !!
My boyfriend and I had a great cooking class with amazing food a few days ago at Lua's place. Lua is super nice, explained a lot around Vietnamese food and culture and made us feel at home at her lovely apartment. We even got some secret tips and the recipes per mail afterwards so we can cook the meals at home. All in all highly recommendable! Thanks Lua!
We enjoyed not only learning how to make three authentic and exquisite Vietnamese dishes, but also gaining in insight into Vietnamese living and culture. Lua was welcoming, interesting and good-humoured, and the class structured in a way that we were all (group of 4) kept busy throughout. A must-do if you are in HCM City.
Lua did a great job preparing everything and everybody could be of help afterwards to make the three course dinner perfect. We had all natural ingredients and she made sure that people with allergies got to eat everything as well. We had a nice group of seven people and talked a lot while eating and cooking. Great start to Vietnamese food.
It was really nice to learn some recipes from natural and basic ingredients that we can also find in Europe. Tasty and healthy food ! We really enjoyed the cooking class in a small group.
Lua was a very nice host and is a wonderful person. We learned a lot about cooking but also about Vietnamese lifestyle. Nothing negative here - just come and learn and enjoy :)
Great cooking class , excellent teaching and food , very easy to understand recommend to any one
Lua's kitchen was a fantastic experience. We learnt how to make some delicious food and a had a great time. Lua was an excellent teacher and if I'm ever in Saigon again I would come back to learn some of her other recipes!
Ms Lua is a great host, has wonderful knowledge and share it clearly. I loved the small group- we all got to do things, to observe closely so we now know what ‘cooked’ looks like. The afternoon was great and I learnt so much. Thank you, Ms Lua!!!
Four of us attended the class and we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Lua was an amazing host, friendly and interesting. Cooked three courses and she took the time to explain each ingredient and meal. Would highly recommend to friends and others.
Loved our class with Leo! She catered perfectly to all the different dietary requirements and the food was delicious. And it was definitely all things we can recreate at home! Can't wait to try out the recipes :)
Cooking with Lua was a great experience. She explained every step and really cooked with us together instead of just showing us what we have to do. The food was really delicious, I would even say it was one of the best tasting meals we had during our two weeks travel trough Vietnam. Therefore if you have a little spare time left during your vacation I would really recommend you to spend a few lovely hours with Lua!(:
Had a great afternoon learning to cook some tasty Vietnamese dishes with our host Lua...in her own kitchen. She was a gracious host and teacher. Highly recommend.
Thank you, we had a blast! Awesome Meal awesome information and the recipes to take back home.
Lua invited us into her lovely home. She showed us and told us about the food at its history in Vietnam. We were only 4, so it was more special and personal and there were time for each of us. I would defiantly recommend Luas cooking class to anyone.
She was great ! Really nice to have a taste of the local life also . Food delicious !! And she sends you the recipes after 😍
Our teacher was both friendly and professional. She coached us with every task she asked us to do and explained history and ingredients along the way. I would recommend this class for small groups, families, and couples.
We had a great time with the host. The small group setting and engaging host made this a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something fun to do!
Lua was incredibly friendly and informative. Even emailed us the recipes after we’d left. Would recommend to anyone and everyone!
awesome, authentic cooking - very clean and great hospitality!! food was amazing and she is very understanding of dietary requirements.
Lua was a wonderful teacher, coming away with new techniques and lots of recipes!
I really enjoyed the cooking session at Lua‘s kitchen. Together with my boyfriend and three other guys we cooked a delicious vietnamese three course menu. I am vegetarian and Lua always created a veg option of the dish for me. Thanks for the nice afternoon and the tasteful recipes you provided Lua! would definitely come again.
Lua is so lovely and welcoming, she knows lots of history behind all the dishes and Vietnamese cuisine. We had so much fun, the food we made was amazing! She is very accommodating to any food requirements. Would highly recommend!
So, we where five people taking part at the cooking classes at Lua s kitchen. The place was very easy to find. We cooked the suggested meals, and Lua explained every ingredience and the alternative (good for europeans !!) to us. Furthermore, thanks to very communicative guests, we got to know each other very well. While cooking, we chatted on this and that, and Lua explained everything, we wanted to know about vietnamese kitchen, streetfood and lifestyle. The menu was a chickensalad with cabbage, mango and carrot, a delicious Pho Bo, and a banana-coconut-dessert. We didn't cook it by our own, but every member had a little task, like chopping onions and other vegetables, making shrimp-chips or chopping the cabbage.-
Class was great. Everything was prep'd ahead of time, and the menu was fantastic. Able to choose what we wanted to make - and actually got involved in the cooking. This was hands-on and FUN. Lua even shared the various recipes with us after the class. She could probably charge double - it was that good - highly recommend.
It was an amazing experience and lua was so great and nice and knowledgeable!
So nice to be in a modern Vietnamese house and learn to cook like she learned it. Get some knowledge about the produce and the ways to variate on this. Also what to substitute when we are at home. Learned a lot, laughed a lot.
This was a last minute addition to our trip and it exceeded all our expectations. The home was beautiful and clean. The ingredients were fresh and the conversation was easy and enjoyable. Loved every minute and bite of our time!
Highly recommend this class for anyone looking for a small group, authentic class. Very informative, fun, and the food was delicious!
We appreciated the detailed instructions on how to prepare some simple dishes with good local ingredients (MSG free!). We had a good conversation regarding the recipes and learned a lot of combinations that worked well together. Lua was a great host and made the experience very enjoyable. Recommended activity near City Centre.
We love Vietnamese food and wanted to do an activity that the whole family could participate in whilst learning genuine skills we could practice at home. Lua’s Cooking class achieved all of that. She asked us what we’d like to cook beforehand and then showed us step by step how to recreate the dishes we love along with learning basic principles that we could adapt to different ingredients at home. Our two teen boys also enjoyed the experience - and are keen to try these recipes at home - bonus!!! A great way to learn more about the local culture and food and Lua was a fantastic host!
Lua invited us in to our home with such enthusiasm and kindness. As four backpackers trying to discover Vietnam nothing was more authentic than emerging Lua and learning more about the Vietnamese cuisine. I would recommend this experience over any day trip. Thank you for everything you taught us!
Thanks Lua. We really enjoyed our morning with you learning about Vietnamese cuisine and making a very nice lunch for ourselves. We will definitely be trying to impress our friends and family with what we have learned when we get home to NZ. We would totally recommend Lua's cooking class if you are looking for a relaxed and personal cooking experience in Ho Chi Minh. Lisa and Scott
We had such a great time cooking with Lua. She taught us how to make spring rolls and turmeric noodles with prawn and pork in her home kitchen which had a great view of the city. 10/10 would recommend if you’re interested in Vietnamese cooking :)
Learnt the traditional use of fish sauce in Vietnamese cuisine and the host was super nice.
Experience Vietnam on a different level. Our vacation really became worth it because of this activity. We wen to the local market and met local Vietnamese people. They were kind and very accommodating. Lua was a very great host and a professional instructor. She was very gentle and sweet yet very knowledgeable in terms of cooking authentic cuisine. She also discussed with us history and some tips in cooking. It was a hands-on activity and we made all dishes from scratch. It was an interactive learning experience where we immersed ourselves with Viet Natives.
Lua was a great host and we learned a lot about Vietnamese cuisine. It was totally relaxed and we had fun making our dishes. We would definitely recommend Lua if you would like a personal cooking experience whilst in HCM. Can't wait to try the dishes we learned on our family and friends when we get back home to New Zealand. Scott and Lisa
Lua was very informative and helpful, food was delicious!
Lua was extremely informative on the process of Vietnamese cuisine, fresh, local & delicious ingredients in the privacy of her home. The food itself was amazing, couldn’t recommend a better experience than this!
Great experience!
Lua was lovely and the class was very hands on. We made a delicious mango salad, goi cuon and beef pho - we were all very full afterwards! Would love to visit again. Thanks Lua!
Lua was a sweet host and a competent teacher. She explained a lot about the ingredients and the eating habits in north and southern Vietnam. And, of course the 3 dishes were really tasty! We had a wonderful time.
We had a fun and educational session with Ms Luc in her home. We had requested to learn how to make pho bo from scratch and she took us through all the steps, hands on. With our fellow student, Laura from Chicago, we put together a lovely lunch of pho, prawn and pork fresh spring rolls with homemade peanut butter dip, and taro pudding. Highly recommended.
Gracias Lua!!!! Un saludo de Aitana y Mikel!!
We had an amazing experience in cooking with Lua at her house. We prepared three different dishes that we could choose in advance. She was an excellent teacher, guiding us throughout each step with simple explanations. All the ingredients were of high quality and the result was very tasty. Not only she gave us good cooking advice, but she also explained where to find ingredients in the local market and what the substitutes were, in case we could not find the right ingredients once back in our country. We also had a great time talking with Lua about travelling and her country, Vietnam, thereby discovering new aspects of her culture. At the end of the cooking class, Lua would send us the recipes of the dishes we prepared. We would strongly recommend taking a cooking class with Lua for an amazing and unique experience in Ho Chi Minh City !
We had our cooking class a few weeks ago now...and all three of us are still using the recipes! We all really enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend. Very flexible with recipes as one of my friends is vegetarian and the other vegan! And both were catered for and highly enjoyed! I just want to say a massive thank you!
This was our first experience in a cooking class. We would like for the class to be more hands on with cooking the main entree. Overall, it was a great experience learning something new and meeting new people.
The cooking class was really great, we were very happy to learn Vietnamese cooking. Lua, who taught us something, has a lot of patience with us. She showed us exactly what to look for when cooking and teaches us a lot about the herbs. she is a wonderful teacher! highly recommended!!
Lua was a great host and made us feel welcome in her home. The dishes we prepared were easy to make and very tasty. The overall experience was memorable. Thank you
Lua is such a delightful, skilful and creative young woman and cook who in a short 4 hour class is able to share and teach you so much about Vietnamese cooking. Our class was spring rolls, beef and mango salad and a tapioca and banana pudding. We also had an opportunity to fine tune our own fish sauce. Lua works through the whole cooking process with professionalism and wonderful knowledge involving participants in every aspect of the meal preparation and cooking. I would recommend Lua’s classes 100% to anyone with a few hours to spare in HCMC. I now use more lemongrass and garlic in dishes I create myself at home and understand the simplicity and subtlety of Vietnamese cuisine much better. Thank you Lua!
This cooking-class with Lua is great. Her apartment is the perfect place to cook. We had summer rolls with prawn and pork, rice cake with prawn and pork and for dessert banana pudding. Everything was delicious and all the ingrediants were fresh from the market. It was great to talk with Lua about her life in Vietnam. We highly recommend this cooking-class. Enjoy!!!
That was perfect! Very good explanations, incredible tastes and a welcoming place to enjoy real local cooking experience! Thank you Lua and see you soon!
Lua was great so friendly and a wonderful host. She shared great knowledge with us and the food was delicious. Would definitely go back! We had 3 dishes made with beautiful fresh ingredients and Lua even told us what we could substitute it with back home in NZ.
There were particular dishes that we wanted to learn how to prepare and because we were a small group, Lua changed the menu especially for us. Here place was easy to get to and would I highly recommend.
Lua was a great host and teacher! We got to make these delightful spring rolls with different types of “paper” which was very fun and delicious. Also got to learn Ho to ma e a basic Vietnamese noodle dish that was super healthy and topped it off with dessert! Highly recommend. Thanks again Lua! We’ll send you what our attempt at home looks like! Jess & James
We had a really lovely time - learnt to cook three dishes and had to be rolled out after they were so good! would highly recommend :)
I really enjoyed this cooking class in Ho Chi Minh City at Lua's kitchen, I learned a lot of things, how to cook Vietnamese products but also how to do this dishes when I will come back to France with local products! It was an authentic cooking class, with a few nice people, everybody around the table preparing the plates under the relevant advice !
Lua was so sweet and a great chef! Our dishes were packed with veggies and flavor. Her class is family-style with amazing home cooking. She makes sure everyone feels welcome and at home. I would definitely do this class again next time I'm in Ho Chi Minh City!
Had such a good time - and she let us design our own menu!
I am so glad I just happen to stumble across Lua’s cooking class on Cookly because it has been a highlight of my journey around Asia. Lua was very welcoming, full of knowledge and experience that engaged us. It didn’t so much feel like your average cooking class, it felt like a family gathering where we were being educated about traditional dishes and the produce as you make and eat them. The food was so fresh, healthy and fulfilling that I’ll definitely be cooking it back home in Melbourne as she sends you the recipes too! I met some great people and had a lot of laughs.
We did everything from scratch, grating the carrots, taros to chopping the garlic. She showed us patiently the steps to cook the dishes, the things to take note when cooking, and substitute of ingredients if we can’t find it in our hometown. The whole session took about 4hours but it was totally worth the time and money! The best of all? The dishes turn out better tasting than those we have tried in the restaurants and this was done without msg! Highly recommended! The trainer was also very friendly and patient to answer our questions. She only take a small group of students, so it is very personalized session.
Lua was a great host and teacher. She was able to tell us so much about Vietnamese cuisine and culture. The food she picked was great and tasty too! We can't recommend this more :)
On the 25 February we went to Lua’s home for a Vietnamese cooking lesson. We learnt how to make spring rolls, green mango salad and banana pudding the food was amazing and Lua was fantastic sharing different techniques and methods for rolling spring roll. Lua had great ideas about alternative ingredients, for back in Australia if we can’t get Vietnamese ingredients. After we cooked we ate together it was like family thank you Lua, will send you photos of our cooking when we get home lol 😆😂 might not be as good as yours. Bee and Brian
I loved this cooking class and Lua was so welcoming! Would defiantly come again when next in HCMC!
We had some nice hours in a warm, family atmosphäre. Thanks Lua for explaining us a lot about the vietnamese (food) culture and for this beautiful, delicious evening!
Lua was very welcoming and explained a lot about traditional Vietnamese food. I enjoyed making the recipes. The only thing one should be aware is that you don't get to do all the steps. All the participants share as it is in a small kitchen. Having said that it was very homey and relaxed. Lua also tailored the menu to our preference which was great.
Lua was a good teacher. She loves sharing her knowledge and love of cooking vietnamese food. The spring rolls were great! The only downside was that the website didn't have the right address for her so after walking to the address provided by cookly, we had to take a cab to her new place. Overall it was a nice experience.
It was very nice and we learned a lot about food and culture. I would recommend everybody to do a cooking class with Lua. You can get a better feeling and understanding of Vietnam lifestyle and food culture. Thanks again for having us.
Luaのレシピは味の素(MSG)を一切使わない家庭料理なのでおすすめです。 調理の過程をしっかり教えてくれて、とっても勉強になります。
We had a really great and personal class with Lua, and the Goi Cuon we made were absolutely delicious. Lua is a great home chef, and taking her class beats all the "cooking schools" out there!
so nice class. I don`t konw about Vietnam food well, It`s good time to study of that class. And i appreciate teacher Lua! If I`ll visit again there, go back to take your class :)
She lives in city center, too easy to go! And class has 3 dishes, but you can create! She can let you know how to make it! And I like she’s course menu! Fried spring roll and bbq pork noodle and icecream!! You can enjoy perfact Veitnam homestyle dinner!!!! I really really recommand for everyone!!
I am passionate about cooking (and eating) tasty and healthy food. I am very proud of my home country’s cuisine and I would like to offer you not only home-style cooking classes of healthy and delicious authentic Vietnamese dishes at my home but also to share my knowledge of Vietnamese culture, especially food culture and traditional cuisine, and good company.
I can cook many tasty dishes from both North and South. I would introduce you to some of the most traditional, as well as to some vegan/vegetarian dishes. I can also tailor my menu to a gluten-free palate, or to special diets/ allergies if required. In each case I have chosen dishes for which the ingredients are easily found (mostly) anywhere.
It really doesn’t matter whether or not you have cooked before. We will start from scratch. I will guide you step by step through cooking process. We will cook together and I will share my cooking experience/tips with you to ensure you to get the best results from your ingredients.
