We have been wanting to learn how to make pasta for a long time and we could not have asked for a better experience!
Very informative, very tasty & most of all fun! Luiza & Filippo were marvellous, easy to listen to & fun to be with. An absolutely fantastic experience, which I would happily repeat again, when I’m next in Florence. To the rest of the participants who joined us in the class, safe travels & Bon appetito.
What a delight to have the art of pasta making expertly explained by chef Stefano and his friendly kitchen assistant in a lovely well equipped kitchen space . The style of teaching is warm , informative and encouraging . All the ingrediency were wonderfully fresh and the reason for using them ,how they worked together was fully explained. This gave an extra insight Italian cookery . We helped with preparation of the sauces and pasta fillings. Stefano gave a demonstration of pasta making and then it was our turn ( seven in our group). I think our pasta turned out very well with the guidance from chef . To end the course we all sat down to eat together. The four course menu included our pasta . It was a lovely way end the course , socialising and enjoying the fruits of our labour .
We had the best experience learning all the foods of Florence. It was delicious thanks to our great teacher. We learned so much and we were able to duplicate the meal at home in the states. Just enjoyable and memorable.
We loved cooking at Mama Florence. We were in a small group class and enjoyed the other participants. Chef G and Patrizia were welcoming and friendly and in addition to the cooking skills, they made it a fun experience. We learned to make pasta from scratch to prepare homemade ravioli, as well as chicken, salad, and a wine infused panna cotta. We ate what we prepared, and all courses were paired w great Italian wine. Would definitely recommend Mama Florence. A highlight of our trip!!
This was a 8, if they allowed us to go past a 5. The class was terrific. Not difficult to follow and everyone in our family got to share the experience. Our 9 yr old granddaughter was thrilled. It was her first time making pasta from scratch. We’d recommend everyone visit mama’s when you visit Florence. And after you finish cooking, you get to eat everything. What fun!
We took a Pasta making class with Fillipo, it was a 4 hour evening class that ended with a sit-down dinner of our creation. It was a small group of 10 (seems like that is the max size). We learned how to create several types of filled pasta shapes and noodles. We also made a salad and 3 sauces (one to accommodate us as vegetarians). Overall a great experience, one of our favorite on the entire vacation.
The bike tour provided a unique perspective of Florence, away from the crowds. The cooking class was hands-on and interactive, and we had a blast making pasta and tiramisu. The instructors were fantastic, offering insights into Italian cuisine and culture. Overall, a fantastic day blending outdoor adventure with culinary delights!
The bike ride through the charming streets of Oltrarno was picturesque and allowed us to discover hidden gems. The cooking class was the highlight—we learned to prepare authentic Italian dishes with fresh, local ingredients. The instructors were friendly and knowledgeable, making the entire day enjoyable and memorable.
When thinking about my time in Florence, I really wanted to do a bike ride and a cooking class. I was so happy when I found this tour on Cookly because it combines both. I had a few questions that I wasn’t clear about when I booked, so hopefully my review will help others thinking about this activity. We met at the bike shop where Bill provided us with bikes and helmets. He gave us water bottles and made sure our bikes fit properly. I was really worried about riding bikes next to the cars but he calmly explained that the cars are used to many bikes and just to stay calm and ignore them. The first part of the bike ride was out of the city and on a moderate incline, which makes sense if you think of the many hills in Tuscany. My sister’s asthma coupled with the fact that it was literally 98 degrees resulted in frequent breaks; Bill was so nice and allowed her all the time she needed. Fortunately we were the only two for the bike portion so he was able to modify this portion and allow for the breaks, during which he chatted with us and even provided some history about where we stopped. He was very motivating. When we arrived at a beautiful stopping point, he explained all of the grape vines, olive trees, caper plants, blackberries etc and had great photo ops. We didn’t get to complete the route I guess he usually does because of the breaks but that was fine because what we saw was beautiful. We then basically rolled back down the hill, again into the city traffic, and arrived at MaMa Florence. I would definitely recommend Bill. Personally I loved it and would do it again but I wouldn’t recommend this if you cannot ride a bike up a moderate incline. When we got to MaMa Florence, Danny greeted us with excitement. First of all, the kitchen was beautiful! The air condition was a huge plus after our bike ride portion. He offered us cold water right away. There was one other person in the class. Danny reviewed the menu and taught the three of us how to make a delicious 5 course meal. It was seriously one of the best meals I had while in Florence. Danny demonstrated what to do and then gave us each an assignment, so we prepared the meal together. Then, we sat down, had some prosecco and Danny plated and served a beautiful meal. We even had wine too. I would absolutely recommend a cooking class at Mama Florence!! In summary, Bill and Danny made this a very special, memorable and fun activity, and I had a really great time. My only regret is that I planned to provide gratuity to further express my appreciation and first Bill had left on his bike before I got it out and then I completely forgot to hand something to Danny because I got distracted when I purchased a small bottle of balsamic. We found our way back to the shops but unfortunately they were both closed. Bill and Danny: if you read this, please know we had a wonderful time with you and we thank you for everything!! I hope my (long) review helps anyone who may have questions!
Our classes are fun, creative and interesting and will turn you in to an Italian cuisine expert! Under the guidance of our chef you will learn all there is to know about making a tasty Italian menù. You will knead, cut, roll and fill ravioli, tagliatelle, tagliolini or other varieties. Recipes are all based on freshness, high quality of ingredients, tradition and, most of all the chef's long experience. Your chef will explain the technical aspects of homemade pasta preparation, including the preparation of three different sauces. We have classes focus on meat, fish or vegetarian food; a special eyes is given to gluten free recipes.
MaMa's courses are highly recommended for families with kids.
