We made around 10 delicious dishes. Oscar the chef was very well organized (much of the food was prepared in advance) and he managed our group of 8 very well. As others said, he is a serious person. We got to chose our own menu which was fun - Oscar presented a wide variety of options. The market trip was great and the meal was absolutely delicious.

This was a fantastic experience for my cousin and I, as well as our spouses, who joined us afterward to help eat our meal. Chef Oscar was very thorough, from our tour of the Mercado, through preparation of the appetizers, main course, deserts and tortillas. We decided on the menu (and the language the lesson would be taught in) as a group and began cooking after the market tour. Chef Oscar made sure that everyone took part in the meal preparation, regardless of level of experience, and he also made sure that we were all sufficiently challenged, according to our prior experience. The few things we could not do for the meal, due to time or space constraints, Chef Oscar explained thoroughly. The meal was presented by staff, to everyone's delight. Muchas gracias, chef Oscar.
Just go there with a good breakfast - you will cook for about 4 1/2 hours before you eat what you cooked - and it is delicious, I personally do not like too much of Mexican food but anyhow, Now I know how to make the real tasty guacamole and real good moles! 14 people were a bit too many, but Oscar tried to keep everybody to do something. If you like Mexican food with a gourmet taste - I would really recommend the class!
This is by far the best cooking class I’ve had! We were able to choose our own menu and then shop in a perfect little market that I would never have found on my own. We did not only learned about the different foods but, always had the connection to Oaxacan culture. The dishes we made were varied and delicious. Our lunch was beautifully served and I won’t be needing dinner tonight. I love Oscar, our host, teacher, chef and now our friend. I will be looking forward to more Cookly classes.
This is a one of a kind experience! We went to Mexico to see the view and it's attractions but we heard from the hotel that cooking classes are great for an activity here in the city. Our chef, is very talented. His name was Oscar. He made the class so enjoyable and fun! It was no pressure. The room was full of laughter and humor. I loved that Oscar chatted to us at the beginning of the class and went through the varieties of meals we had the options of cooking, so we could choose exactly what we wanted to make from an extensive repertoire. Definitely recommended!
We booked online knowing nothing about this class and it was a complete fantastic surprise. We met great people and Oscar was a fabulous teacher.
We had a great time with Oscar, we were the only people who had booked so ended up with a private class! Covering a huge amount of dishes, Oscar even threw in a few more with some ingredients they had spare in the fridge. Would highly recommend, a fantastic way to learn about the food, ingredients and dishes of Oaxaca!
Oscar is evidently a very talented chef and the recipes we made during our class were absolutely delicious. I loved that Oscar chatted to us at the beginning of the class and went through the varieties of meals we had the options of cooking, so we could choose exactly what we wanted to make from an extensive repertoire. For a short day class we made an impressive number of dishes.
Oscar was awesome! We made several dishes and at the end of the class, all the students sat down and ate together. The class was fun and informative and we made some great new friends.
The class was really engaging and Oscar was very knowledgeable . Overall a great place to check out if you are interested in learning about Oaxacan cuisine.
The trip to the market to get ingredients was informative and a lot of fun. There were a lot of unique dishes to cook and all around a very hands on class.
Very hands on class. I really enjoyed being shown around the market and the mole was incredible!
