My friend and I were in Kyoto and wanted to book a food tour. This was amazing because of how personal it was! Toshiki listened to our preferences and restrictions (my friend was pregnant so needed to accommodate her!) and we went from there. We visited 3 Izakaya’s around Kyoto and asked all kinds of questions about the culture, food, traded stories. We had an amazing time! Highly recommend!
Very civilized, relaxed trip through food district of Kyoto with the lovely Maki who took us to 3 very different and interesting restaurants ranging from tempura to yakitori to tofu/raddish - Maki even threw in a quick calligraphy lesson ahead of our next planned activity! Very good
Mark our Japanese guide messaged us the day before the event and came to our hotel to meet us instead of us walking to the meeting point. He took us to an authentic Japanese restaurant where we had a set meal which was delicious. We then went to Nijo castle naked summer festival where we were able to see a spectacular lighting show on the castle. Mark kept us entertained throughout and showed us back to our hotel after. He then sent us some lovely photos he had taken of the tour. Would recommend.
Steven was excellent. We learned a lot about the history of the market and how Kyoto food is cooked.
The guide was excellent and kind. He could not have been any better. My partner fell and he was very good in helping her. He is a wonderful guide.
My group had an amazing time touring this market.
At Bond, our philosophy is simple: “Be part of Japan, not just a visitor.” We connect travelers with genuine local experiences that reveal the true essence of Japan’s traditions. Through food, we believe one can discover the soul of Kyoto—its harmony, elegance, and deep respect for nature.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Miyagawa-cho Suiren, a distinguished traditional restaurant where the head chef, a master of Kyoto cuisine, personally guides guests in crafting sushi and udon.
Together, we offer more than just a cooking class—it’s a heartfelt cultural exchange that embodies the spirit of Japanese hospitality.
