We lovede everything, from the market tour to the cooking class and the boat trip in the coconut forest. Really reccomend it!!
We want to thank Long and his family for the joyful afternoon they organised for us. They were very welcoming hosts. In particular, the basket boat tour was very exciting; we even managed to catch a small fish and a crab which we dutifully returned back to the water. The subsequent cooking class was a fun experience as well, with a lot of food. Although for regular homecooks like us, there were not any new techniques we discovered, we still learned some delicious vietnamese recipes. Over dinner Long joined us for a chat which made us feel like part of the extended family rather than mere "clients". To conclude: good food, good mood!
Well-organized and informative tour. We had a total of 6 people on our tour. It was great to have such a small group, especially during the market tour so we could hear properly and ask questions. The basket boat ride was a highlight. The food was delicious and there was sooo much of it! Well worth the money.
We absolutely loved this. The family including my 5-year-old child had such a great time. We went to the market to learn about the various ingredients and how they are incorporated into Vietnamese cuisine. Then we went on a boat to try our hand at fishing and caught a crab. Then we went to the kitchen with an instructor to cook 4 separate dishes with our own hot plates. Healthy clean eating, synonymous with everything Hoi An!
My parents-in-law had great experiences in local market, fishing und specially in cooking. At the end, we even got the recipes for some Vietnamese dishes. My family love it so much. Now when they go back to Germany, they can cook some Vietnamese food their self. Mr. Long and the lady (sorry I forgot the name) are so friendly and sweet. Thank you very much! Highly recommended! 😊
Shortly after arriving in Hoi An, we spontaneously booked the cooking class for the afternoon because it was pouring rain. Longtran picked us up as agreed and we were surprised to find that only my brother and I had booked the tour. He took us to the market, showed us different types of fruit and vegetables we didn't know about and allowed us to try some. He then took us to his restaurant, gave us time for a drink, and ate some mango. After that, we did the Coconut Boat Tour with another really nice guy who showed us how to catch fish. For this, he took us to a more remote area away from the crowds. After returning to the restaurant we started cooking with his sister-in-law who gave us helpful advice. Everything we ate was super delicious and Longtran even invited us for a few beers. After dinner, he got us home on time and gave us an envelope with the recipes! He and the woman we cooked with were super friendly and patiently answered all of our questions! So far the best tour we have booked in Vietnam and we both highly recommend it!
I had a pleasure to cook with a lovely and caring chef, we prepared a special vegetarian meal as I asked and in the market they bought extra food that they prepared just for me. It was such a lovely experience!
The boat ride was an amazing experience to have, giving us first hand experience of trying to catch our own fish. The food was delicious and our host was amazing, this is definitely a must try experience.
Long and his family were amazing hosts. I booked the afternoon tour and managed to get a private tour as most people book the morning as the village market is more lively then and has fresher ingredients. I then went out on a bamboo boat that was a lot of fun. Crab fishing, dancing and fishing with a net (no fish 🤣). It lasted about 45mins. Then we go and cook our dinner. Everything was yummy and I had the best chef to show me how to make the different dishes. They even made me some oysters, shrimp and quail eggs for me 10000% recommend.
We did the afternoon class and had the pleasure of it being private for my partner and I. I guess usually the morning classes are packed. We went to the market to learn about some traditional ingredients. In the afternoons the markets are less busy but we were ok with that. Our tour guide got us passion fruit and some clams to try out different cooking techniques. Then we went to the restaurant and had tea and a special passion fruit juice our guide Longtran made us. After we took a fun bamboo boat ride on the water which was amazing. There was karaoke and bamboo boat tricks as well as some minor fishing and we even caught two baby crabs we later let back. Dinner was amazing. Please come with an empty stomach. We made Spring Rolls, Banh Xeo, Seafood noodles and Banana Flower Salad. Longtran also made different types of clams for us! Most memorable cooking class experience in our travels! Also the beer is super cheap and perfect with the meal.
It was very pleasant experience, far exceeding our expectations. We have been taken care off, the boat trip was very entertaining, the fishing part was successful, the food was fresh and delicious, but most importantly everything was organized in a professional and timely manner. Definitely recommend this one!
This class was the perfect amount of time spent in the market, on the boats and then cooking all those delicious dishes. I would highly recommend it!!!
It was a friendly and fabulous experience with Long and his family. We went to the local market, on the bamboo basket boat and had cooking class with our chef, Tuyet. She is a very calm and ready to answer all our questions while teaching us how to cook. We had lots of nice food to eat for dinner😋it’s a worthwhile experience👍
From pick up at the hotel when Long introduced himself and what we were going to do we felt like we will have a good experience.we went to the market then to the fishing village where we experienced a tour on the bamboo basket boat, came back to cook with our chef Tuyet who was marvellous 🥰😍She explained everything in details and answered all our questions clearly. The food we cooked were so much and really😊👌Overall if anyone wants to have a full 3 in 1 experience, go for it. It’s worth the money you pay👍🧡
We really liked to go to the local market and the cooking part itself. However, the crab fishing part was very very touristy and not nice at all. You were almost obliged to give a tip to a performance you did not even ask for, and over all it was just not very authentic but just touristy. But the cooking part was very nice and made up for the crab fishing!
Clase espectacular,la atención recibida ha sido óptima, nos ha encantado como nos ha tratado Long y su familia. La visita al mercado,el río,la clase de cocina en si.. todo ha sido genial. Muy recomendable si vienes a HoinAn
What a day. Starting out with a local market tour. Looking at all the local ingredients and attending a real local market. After that the weirdest thing we hav experienced, boat trip on local river with Korean karaoke. Crazy , fun and completely unexpected. Then over to the main attraction. The cooking of four Vietnamese dishes. The whole family, each had their own stow. We learned to cook spring roles Vietnamese pancakes, noodles and a sallad. The hole venue lasted from 2-7pm. And we had a blast. We can recommend it to everyone❤️❤️❤️
We spent an fantastic afternoon with Long and his family. We visited a local market, went on a bamboo boat trip, prepared 4 diffrent dishes under excellent guidance from Long and his family and finished of by enjoying the delicious food. We warmly recommend this tour!
Long and his family are incredibly welcoming. They were accommodating and informative from the start of the day and at no point rushed us or made us feel anything other than at home. They provided us with a great cooking class and even gave us recipes to take home. We’re very grateful for the experience and cannot recommend it enough!
It's nice to learn to cook and eat what you cooked. Me and my friends had a good time at the cooking class. The host was friendly and nice to us
We did Hoi An PaPa’s Cooking Class on 5th September and it was amazing from start to finish. The visit to the market was informative and great to see. The basket boat was great fun. It lasted a lot longer than we expected compared to other boat rides we had done, and the guide went to a lot of trouble to make sure we had a great time. The cooking class was incredible and learnt to make lots of yummy food. They even went the extra mile and cooked some extra seafood which they had picked up from the market for us which we were not expecting. Would definitely recommend this class to anyone.
Had an amazing time at the coconut forest. The basket boat ride was fantastic. My driver really went to a lot of effort to make sure I had a good time. The cooking class was also really fun. Long was really informative about Vietnamese food and produce at the market. Would highly recommend this tour.
A lovely morning out. The visit to the local markets was Great, and really fun to go fishing on the bucket boats, although would have been nice to have more of an emphasis on fishing. The cooking course was simple but traditional and delicious food- plenty of it! Probs my a bit basic for an experienced cook but I learnt a lot that I will use back home!
Brilliant experience. The trip was with a very friendly guide called Long. Great food, lots of fun for the entire family and definitely worth the money and the time. Highly recommend it.
We had a wonderful day with Long visiting the markets, bamboo basket ride, learning local fishing techniques, and cooking a feast for our lunch! We were lucky to have a private tour which we were not expecting, so had plenty of time to ask questions. It was our favourite experience during our stay in Hoi An, and I would recommend to anyone I know visiting there!
My partner and I booked this tour the night before and were very pleased with our choice. They may be new on Cookly but they have an astounding pool of reviews for their tour on TripAdvisor. The guide, Long, was very friendly and accommodating. He did everything to make us feel comfortable. We were lucky because we were the only two tourists on the tour that afternoon. He picked us up from our hostel in Hoi An, brought us to the market (which was pretty silent because we booked the afternoon tour) to get some ingredients, sent us to his little restaurant to have a cup of sugarcane juice before getting on the basket boat tour around the coconut forest. Long was the one who rowed the boat, made little souvenirs for us, brought us to see the fisherman cast his net, brought us to do some crab fishing and gave us a little thrilling ride on the boat. Thereafter, we returned to his restaurant and was given a bottle of cold water to rest. We then began our cooking lesson, which was demonstrated by his sister-in-law and translated by Long himself. At the end of the cooking session, we had a whole table of food - spring rolls, a salad, the Vietnamese pancake, seafood stir fry noodles, and also a special dish - clams cooked in lemongrass and chilli. We were also given some mangoes for dessert. Long then sent us back to our homestay with our filled bellies, recipes for the dishes we have prepared, and a lot of wonderful experiences. Long was very funny, informative, and I liked that he offered to take many pictures for us. He could also communicate well in English. Thank you, Long! We are honoured to be your first guests from Cookly :)
