⸻ A Soul-Stirring Journey into Balinese Tradition From the moment we stepped into the serene village of Delodsema in Taro, north of Ubud, we were enveloped in the warmth and hospitality of a Balinese family eager to share their ancestral craft of coconut oil making. The village, home to just 50 families, exuded a sense of tranquility and authenticity that set the tone for the day. Our hosts welcomed us with freshly brewed herbal tea and traditional Balinese cookies, immediately making us feel like part of their family. Donning traditional sarongs, we embarked on the meticulous process of crafting coconut oil from scratch—a practice passed down through generations. The hands-on experience, from grating coconuts to extracting the oil, was both enlightening and humbling. While the oil simmered, we received a soothing coconut scrub massage and explored the family’s lush garden, teeming with fruit trees and local flora. The children played nearby, their laughter echoing through the village, adding to the day’s charm. This wasn’t just a workshop; it was an intimate glimpse into the daily life, traditions, and values of a Balinese family. Their generosity, knowledge, and genuine joy in sharing their culture left an indelible mark on our hearts. For anyone seeking an authentic, enriching experience in Bali, this coconut oil-making journey is a must. It’s a beautiful reminder of the profound connections we can forge through shared traditions and open hearts.
An amazing authentic look at Bali with great learning experiences from the culture of learning about the way of life and making a traditional process of making Coconut Oil. The teaching and welcoming us to their home was embracing. Please note that you make your own way there which was a little confusing at the beginning of booking from past reviews. We booked ourselves a Driver for the day to get there and seriously it was one of the best experiences we had in Bali. The Workshop is in Taro and a small Traditional Village and were opportunities for also other activities like Silversmithing and going to the Bamboo Forest. Very authentic and Highly Recommend!!
I am really suggest you should do this program. When I arrived at Taro village, the man gave me so beautiful Salong, which was really good. and he explained so nicely, gave me a welcome drink, young coconut juice. Also I can look around many fruit trees and animals. also he drove me by motobike, it was really safe and I can look around rice filed. It was the best time since I’ve stayed in Bali.
From start to finish this was a great experience booking was very easy and my booking was confirmed quickly. I was picked up from my accommodation by Sangayu and taken through the beautiful countryside to her home for my Coconut Oil making class. Sangayu and her family were very welcoming and made me feel at home. I was the only person in the class and Sangayu spent time explaining the process and I was even lucky enough to get a arm and hand massage with the coconut that we had grated. This is a good experience and one to recommend very pleased with the end product. Suksema🙏
We'll first pick you up from your Hotel and drive to Taro Village. This is the village where I live and grew up in! Here, Arrive at my home, you will enjoy fresh herbal tea together for welcoming and then create the Coconut Oil. Coconut oil created quite a buzz in the natural health community, and for good reasons.
Here we will make real coconut oil following the Balinese traditional process (it will take more than 1.5 - 2 hours to be done).
While we wait for it, we will explore the local life to find how to make a local craft like silversmith and rice terrace view near our Village. Once the coconut oil has done, you will bring it home after the session ends!
