At home with Nahoko

Nako was very friendly, kind and funny. She gave us a lot of information about the history of Japanese food. Also asked us personal questions which was very nice. The food was delicious! I can recommend Nako to anyone who would like to learn to cook ramen themselves the proper way

Nahoko-san was an amazing host. She is highly knowledgeable in food science and culinary arts. I appreciated hearing her insight on flavor profiles, preparation methods, and cultural significance. Nahoko-san was also incredibly patient and sweet with our group! I am grateful to have been welcomed into her home and I would book another activity with her in a heartbeat.

We learned a lot about Japanese cuisine and the specific ingredients used. We now also know how to make good ramen. We had a lovely group and Nahoko is fantastic! Knowledgeable and very nice. This cooking workshop is highly recommended.

We took a ramen cooking class with Nahoko in mid September, and it ended up being one of our favorite memories from our Japan trip! Nahoko was such a warm, patient, and knowledgeable teacher who made the whole experience fun and approachable, even though it was our first time making ramen from scratch. Everything was so well organized, the ingredients were fresh, and she explained each step clearly while sharing interesting insights about Japanese cooking. The ramen we made was absolutely delicious and truly one of the best bowls we had during our travels. We’ve already tried recreating it at home, which says a lot about how inspiring the class was. Thank you, Nahoko, for such a memorable and delicious experience. We would recommend this class to anyone visiting Japan!

I really enjoyed Nahoko’s gluten free ramen cooking class, and so did my friends that joined me. Nahoko made us feel very welcome; we could be our authentic selves in her class. She does a great job of combining history, cooking instructions, information about gluten free items in Japan, and hands-on cooking time. Don’t worry if you can’t speak Japanese; Nahoko’s English is very good!! I am seriously considering taking classes with her again. 10/10/10.

My girlfriend and I had the best experience learning how to cook chicken Ramen from Nahoko. Nahoko taught us a lot about the history and chemistry of ramen noodles and how to layer flavor in the broth. Her kitchen smelled amazing from the start and was a very comfortable environment to learn her expert techniques and eat amazing ramen. She also provided us some written instructions so we do actually feel like we can repeat the recipe back home. It was such an honor to be welcomed into Nahoko's home. Nahoko's generosity and kindness made the entire cooking experience very special for us. She provided so much insight and warmth to our group. We are so happy to have these new precious memories, thank you, Nahoko-san!

Nahoko is amazing! She is very welcoming the ramen is spectacular! It was so much fun. I went with my partner and we had a really great time. If you have time for a cooking class in Tokyo, and you love ramen. this is a must do!

Yesterday we went to Nahoko’s cooking class and it was the best day ever :) Nahoko is SO sweet and adorable and kind, and she knows so much about the science of cooking and the best ways to make gluten free noodles!! I found her class because of all the amazing reviews she gets from the gluten free Japan Facebook group, and it is all so well deserved. Also the noodles were insanely good. My husband eats gluten and loves ramen and could not believe the noodles were gf. And she has this vat of homemade miso which was the best!! She is a really special person and an amazing chef and I absolutely loved spending the afternoon in her cozy home!! Highly highly recommend :)

Nahoko was kind and informative. She taught us how to make gluten-free noodles using a recipe that can be applied to udon and Italian pasta as well! The Ramen that we made was delicious. It was warm and comforting. We honestly could not tell the difference between our gluten-free noodles and the real thing. Would highly recommend this cooking class.

We had a great time with Nahoko. She explained us how to get Umami flavor in your food and her recipe to make the ramen noodles by yourself worked perfectly!

We had the best time with Nahoko!!! The class is set in her wonderful and quaint home, which suited her warm welcome as well. Nahoko is very knowledgeable about ramen and she shared all sorts of tips that really make it realistic to try cooking ramen from scratch back home. A great cultural learning experience. Not just a ramen cooking class but also a lesson in Japanese culture and and food traditions. Nahoko-san was a lovely, kind, witty, and fun cooking teacher (sensei). With her patient and helpful guidance, we were able to have a hands on experience that was worthwhile. The four hours flew by and we enjoyed the ramen meal we made together. Arigato Nahoko-san.

My son Anni had a great afternoon with Nahoko who has completely changed our views on Ramen and preparing noodles. Nahoko provided lots of background information on umami, ingredients and Japanese food culture but most important was the cosy and friendly atmosphere that she created for us in her kitchen.

We had a great afternoon and evening at Nahoko‘s house in Tokio. She teached us how to cook Ramen from scretch. We made our own broths (also vegeterian one) and Ramen noodles. The created Ramen was so delicious! We also had some really inspiring conversations about the life in Japan. In total we really enjoyed the class and recommend it to everyone! Not only did Nahoko provide us with her recipe and practical cooking tips. She provided us with theory and background knowledge and explained why she is doing each step while cooking. This class also provides insights on Japanese culture. I would recommend this cooking class to anyone who has a interest in cooking and Japanese cuisine. It is the best experience I had so far in Japan and also the best Ramen I tasted.

We learned to cook super delicious ramen. Very nice teacher. What I liked a lot is that the teacher was able to answer some very detailed questions about different steps. She provided sound advice based on her own experience. And also talked about alternatives. Why and how they work or don't work. Very knowledgeable teacher!

I loved being welcomed into Nahoko’s home and learning how to make ramen broth and noodles. Nahoko was warm and welcoming and provided us with both background about ramen and ramen broth and knowledge to make a delicious broth from a variety of ingredients even if they differ from what we used in class. She was able to accommodate vegetarian, pescatarian, and gluten-free diet needs. Highly recommend!

Nahoko-san was a perfect host. The mixture of explanations, cooking, and fun was perfect. Our cooking class with Nahoko was one of the most prized memories from our trip to Japan this summer. She was warm and so welcoming and we loved being in her home. Nahoko hosted our family of 5 (our kids are 17, 14, and 9) and we made each made our own ramen noodles from scratch. The ramen was the very best we’ve ever had and she let us taste and learn about her year long fermented miso and was a delight with the kids. We plan to make this at home with each of the kids inviting a guest. We took two other cooking classes while traveling through the country and although the other classes were great and informative, nothing came close to spending the afternoon with Nahoko. This is a not to be missed treat if you’re able to book a class! Thanks so much Nahoko!

This class was really incredible! My husband and I were lucky enough to get to do a private ramen making class with Nahoko. She is an amazing teacher, took us through every step so we can make our own ramen at home, let us taste her homemade miso, and helped us cook the best ramen we had during our entire trip to Japan! She welcomed us into her home like we were family and we got to eat ramen and chat with both her and her husband at the end of our lesson - they both are incredible people with such knowledge and passion! Nahoko helped us not only with ramen but with other aspects of our stay and kept in touch after the class. It felt like we made an immediate friendship that we will cherish for a long time to come! This class exceeded our expectations in both cooking and friendship!

Nakaho’s class was fun!! We learned some ramen technique and it tasted delicious. Worth booking….Namaho’s town outside of Tokyo was very cute as well.

We had an amazing time with Nahoko-san! She explained everything extreme well, had step by step instruction for us to take home, and made the entire ramen making experience very fun! Nahoko-san even spent some time talking with us after we finished our ramen, it was perfect. I would highly recommend cooking with Nahoko-san!!!

I was very lucky to be the only person in the ramen and gyoza class and it soon felt like being at a friend's house for dinner! Nahoko was so lovely and really gave me an insight into Japanese home cooking. The food was also delicious and the experience as a whole was one of my favourite in Japan. My partner and I attended Nahoko’s house for a cooking class to learn about and prepare ramen and gyoza. We were greeted with a big welcoming smile from host Nahoko. We began by preparing, wrapping and eating the gyoza. The gyoza were so tasty it was hard to not eat them all at once to ensure we could save room for the ramen! We then made the ramen and Nahoko shared some of her secret recipe hints with us. The ramen broth and ingredients were so flavourful and we both were very full and satisfied after eating it. We can not wait to host a dinner party and put our new skills to use! The night was so great that we will be visiting Nahoko again next trip in Japan to learn more to further our knowledge. I would highly recommend this class to all groups ranging from couples to families to friends.

We were welcomed into Nahoko’s fun and quirky kitchen for a lovely evening of learning about Ramen and gyoza. The finished product was delicious and the experience was a delight from beginning to end. Making and tasting fresh noodles was on our bucket list for our trip to Japan and Nahoko came through. My husband, who cooks professionally learned many new tricks. We even got to taste her homemade Miso and learn about the process of creating it from scratch. Highly recommend!
