In our 50-minute immersion into Japanese tea culture, we will make and drink Japanese matcha tea in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.
In addition, you'll taste two different shapes of dried sweets called Higashi, which are made from wasanbon sugar. Wasanbon sugar is the best quality sugar in Japan, and can be found in an old and famous sweet shop in Kyoto. We'll provide Higashi from the city of Takamatsu, which is the birthplace of wakasan sugar. The sweets are famous for their melt-in-your-mouth texture, and you can even bring some home to have together with your coffee and tea.
Enjoy making and drinking delicious matcha tea! We'll provide traditional Samue, Kimono or Yukata clothing so you can experience an authentic tea ceremony during our class.
