Market Tour and Tuscan Cooking Class at MaMa Florence

My wife and I had the best time in the Market Tour and Tuscan Cooking Class at MaMa Florence! The market tour with Silvia was so insightful and it was so fun to see the variety of fresh locally sourced food, the many different vendors and to sample some of the local meats, cheeses and truffles. She also shared so many great tips about Florence - we wish we would have done this at the start of our vacation instead of at the end! The Tuscan Cooking Class with Stefano was a total highlight of our trip! He was such an amazing and patient instructor and it was a hands on experience to prepare each of the four different courses. It was my wife's birthday so he put a candle in our dessert and played happy birthday over the bluetooth speaker to celebrate. Such a thoughtful gesture! I would totally recommend doing this - it was so memorable to spend this time together learning about and preparing our meal. So much fun and one of the highlights of our vacation!

We had a great time! Aniko met us and gave us a tour of the market. She is so knowledgeable about the local fare. After about a 45 minute tour (we also grabbed bites from a vendor of meats and cheeses!), we set off for the classroom to meet chef Michel. He was so personable and fun. Definitely made the experience for us. We made 4 courses which were all delicious and then sat to enjoy them as a class with copious amounts of wine. Chef Michel also sent us home with the recipes so that we can recreate them. All around lovely experience. We would definitely recommend Mama Florence.

Michele and Danny were great! The recipes were interesting and use of ingredients was unique. Loved the apple balsamic vinegar! Enjoyed making tortellini...can’t wait to try this at home! I highly recommend taking this class!

Although there solo, I was at a counter with a family and it was a perfect way for all to participate, especially since this class requires no technical skills. You get to make your own dough, which I'm glad to have learned, then you top your own pizza. However, they do all the cooking and the gelato is cooked by the lead chef by demonstration only.
