What to Expect

Let yourself unwind from the stresses of city life by immersing yourself in our tranquil organic farm and enjoy cooking course in Thai-style pavilions. Grandma’s Home Cooking School is located in a small charming Saraphi District village.

Start your morning by visiting the local market; our instructors will introduce the basic ingredients used in Thai cuisine and how to select them. In our organic farm, you will learn more about Thai herbs and vegetables. Not only picking up some fresh ingredients by yourself, but also experience how to harvest mushrooms, collect chicken eggs and enjoy a farming-life experience.

Our cooking course offers famous Thai dishes such as Tom Yam (Hot and Sour Soup), Kang Kew Waan (Green Curry), Pad Thai (Stir-Fried Rice Noodles), Gang Massaman (Massaman Curry), etc. Select one refreshment and one dish from our five categories; appetizer, stir fry, soup, curry, and dessert. Our experienced instructors will demonstrate techniques step by step first and then it’s your turn to cook your selected dishes.

What I liked: Loved the chef who was very insightful and provided answers to all my stupid and non-stupid questions. The facilities are new and have a superb garden where the main ingredients are picked before starting cooking.

What to know: As a vegan I was taken well cared of, since the chef paid special attention on the ingredients. The location is a 10 min drive from outside of Chiang Mai.

Good for: People who want to have the complete package and not just a crash course about Pad Thai.

9:15 am: Visit the local market. Our instructors will introduce various ingredients and seasonings.
10:00 am: Arrival at Grandma's Home Cooking School where refreshing drinks and welcome snacks are waiting for you.
10:20 am: Begin the class with how to cook rice and sticky rice.
10:35 am: Our instructors will guide you on our organic farm while explaining Thai herbs and vegetables. Enjoy collecting chicken eggs and some fresh ingredients.
11:00 am: Soup and Stir-Fry session with tasting
12:00 pm: Curry session with tasting. For dessert and refreshments, our instructor will demonstrate how to make dessert and special refreshments step by step and let's enjoy tasting together
13:45 pm: Leave the cooking school

Jimmie was the highlight of our class!

We had such a fantastic time at Grandma’s cooking class! From start to finish, the experience was fun, hands-on, and incredibly delicious. The best part of this experience was getting to spend time learning about Thai cuisine from Jimmie. He is engaging, funny and an absolute joy! He made the whole experience feel personal and authentic. The school is situated on a farm and the landscape is stunning . The dishes we prepared were delicious!!! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Chiang Mai wanting a unique, delicious experience!

Amazing! Well worth the money & the best experience in Chiang Mai

Where can I begin! Pat our instructor was wonderful, insightful & funny :) she really made our experience 10 times better! The class is structured really nicely. We started off at the market where she explained some of the ingredients we would be using during the class. We then made our way to the beautiful garden where the classes are held and wow!! There were around 5 or 6 pavilions (where our class was hosted) all surrounded by organic gardens which provided the ingredients we used for our recipes. The pavilion was spectacular - we each had our own work station with a burner which was meticulously prepared with the ingredients we would be needing throughout. We made a soup, pad thai & curry in that order - eating what we prepared and moving forward with the next dish. The ingredients were very fresh - which is what made the food even more delicious! We really had a great time and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an authentic cooking class in Chiang Mai! I will be sharing more pictures on my instagram!

Outstanding class! We loved it!

We had such a great experience! We enjoyed the scenery, the organic farm and our cooking teacher passion for sharing thai food secrets. It felt like we were in another world, surrounded by nature and tranquility and aromas of curry and basil. We loved it!

AWESOME EXPERIENCE

It was my highlight of Chiang Mai trip! If you fond yourself enjoying cooking, you will loooooooveeee it! My teacher was great! I am mot detail person, but every step of cooking class was so easy to follow. It was unforgettable experience at a very nice and peaceful garden. You won’t regret at all.
