Sicilian cooking has evolved over centuries, influenced by various conquerors and cultures—including Spanish, Greek, and Arab—which has created a distinctive blend of styles and flavors unique to Italy. Renowned for its bold, fresh flavors, Sicilian cuisine is celebrated as one of Italy's finest. The best way to master Sicilian cooking is to learn from someone deeply familiar with the local food and wines. Chef Donna Patricia or Giuliana will guide you through each dish, sharing the history and traditions behind them and their significance in Sicilian cuisine.

The classes take place in an elegant 18th-century Noble Palazzo directly across from the main Cathedral and just a 15-minute walk from the Capo Market. Our market tours start mid-morning when the markets are at their most lively and vibrant.

We use only fresh, seasonal ingredients to ensure authenticity, which means our daily menus change based on seasonal and market availability. Our dishes focus on historically significant Sicilian recipes, featuring pasta, fresh fish and meat, vegetable dishes, and delightful sweets.

A day of cooking with Chef Patrizia is more than just a lesson in a stunning location; it's an immersive experience into Sicilian culture and cuisine.

Menu

A genuinely authentic Sicilian lunch menu typically includes:

• A primo (pasta)
• A secondo (fish or meat)
• A side dish such as ‘’eggplant caponata’’ or other seasonal vegetables
• Dolce (dessert)

Schedule

• In the morning, the chef will greet you and take you on a tour of the vibrant and colorful Capo Market. Experience the bustling atmosphere, captivating sights, and enticing aromas of the market while discovering a variety of unfamiliar foods. You'll assist in selecting fresh, seasonal ingredients for the delicious meal you'll prepare later.
• As you head to the cooking studio, you'll enjoy a pleasant walk through Palermo, soaking in the city's stunning baroque architecture. Palermo is undeniably one of the most artistically rich cities in the Mediterranean.
• Upon arrival at the cooking studio, located in a historic and beautiful Palazzo, you'll be welcomed with a refreshing glass of Sicilian wine as you unpack your market finds and discuss the exciting menu ahead.
• Throughout the preparation, you'll learn about and sample local wines, cheeses, olives, and extra virgin olive oil from Nucidda, our countryside location where we also offer cooking classes, wine tastings, parties, and other gourmet experiences.
• The cooking class itself unfolds at a relaxed pace over approximately 2 hours. Afterward, you'll sit down to savor the fruits of your labor, with dessert accompanied by a glass (or two) of homemade limoncello.
• At the end of the class, each participant will receive a certificate of accomplishment signed by the Chef. Then, just sit back, relax, and enjoy your wine!
