CEDNA is a self-sustaining non-profit organization that promotes better socioeconomic conditions for the Peruvian people through equity and social inclusion. Using sustainable development and skill-based education, we aim to work with low-income children, adolescents, and adults to improve their quality of life.
The program first began in 2003 with a partnership between Dutch Cora Staats and Peruvian economist Alberto Carpio. The two, both passionate about the beautiful Cusco region, dreamed of of economically empowering local communities through sustainable, long-lasting techniques. Rather than providing handouts, they wanted to create opportunities for intelligent young Peruvians in low-income areas. The project grew out of support from the Cora and Alberto’s friend and family, and today runs various self-sustaining programs that work to diminish Childhood malnourishment, teach young adults important professional skills, and provide job opportunities to low-income single mothers.
Today, CEDNA invites visitors from around the world to their high quality kitchen-classroom, to learn how to cook like a local. The fun and engaging experience will not only teach you Peruvian cooking skills, but also help support the organization's continuing efforts toward improving lifes in the Cusco area.
