If you are looking for a piece of history with OUTSTANDING FOOD and WINE call Elisabetta from Tronconi winery. The biodynamic wines are amazing. The food was INCREDIBLE!!!!!! We felt like family. The grounds are beautiful. When the gate opens, your in heaven! We are women visiting from USA and wanted to experience a winery and needed a hotel. Elisabetta speaks English well and quick on email and WhatsApp. We came for the winery and lunch and end up stay at their B&B Palazzo Tronconi (a few minutes away)- it was FABULOUS! It’s perched high up in the mountain and views are spectacular. They have all the modern conveniences, elevator, air conditioning and modern private bathrooms!!! Tiziana makes you feel like family and doesn’t hurt she is a fantastic cook!! We wished we had more time to take their cooking class. We will be sure to do that in our next trip! Acre is an authentic town rich with history. The church in the piazza is breathtaking. Grazie Elisabetta and Tiziana!!!
Wow. Where do I even begin? What a pleasant stay. My boyfriend (now fiancé - which you'll learn here) planned this entire portion of our trip which is very out of character so I ran with it. He was recommended Palazoo Tronconi from a colleague who is very good friends with the owner, Marco (who is also AMAZING). We arrived to Rome FCO and Pierre Luigi was waiting to drive us to the Palazzo! Upon arrival we were greeted by their onsite staff and owner, Marco. Given I was not privy to the plan in advanced, I was told to get ready for wine tasting at their biodynamic winery and lunch!
My stay at Palazzo Tronconi exceeded my expectations. First of all it’s a real 18th century Palazzo, gracefully refurbished with all modern amenities, in the middle of Ciociaria, the quintessential, unspoiled Italian rural side. The town of Arce is perched on a rock amid rolling hills, fields and oak woods. Marco, the host, is very welcoming but unobtrusive: he showed me the corners of the Old Town, brought me to the best gelato shop (Le Fantasie!) and even showed me around his vineyards. Palazzo Tronconi is also a label of Natural wines, produced according to biodynamics, using only indigenous grape varietals. The vineyards are well integrated in the rural landscape, not the usual eyesore that is an intensively farmed land. I joined the evening cellar tour followed by the apericena, the Italian aperitivo served with homemade food. Not only Marco is an eloquent advocate for Natural Wines, he also produces great examples of pure, clean, expressive wines. All the staff is very friendly, they made me feel very welcome and went the extra mile to make my stay an unforgettable experience!
Located just over an hour away from Rome you will find yourself in Arce, beautiful, unspoilt countryside of mountains, valleys and an ancient medieval town, here is the home of Palazzo Tronconi Vineyards and Winery, 18th Century Hotel and Cooking School.
