Paon Bali Cooking Class

The entire experience was beautifully conducted and we learnt so much. The ingredients were explained, their role in the recipes was elaborated upon and Balinese culinary culture was explored. We all took turns to try our hands at every process. The teacher was so knowledgeable and friendly. And the final meal was utterly divine!

Smooth pickup from the hotel, visit to the market, not to buy the ingredients but to explain and show what is on offer. Short stop at a rice field to explain about it, then off to the cooking school. Bigger than expected but well organisied and hands on. Multi cultural participants. All in all a great experience and yummy food to eat at the end.

After visiting the market, we went to the training room. The kitchen was very clean, and hygiene was a top priority. The food was prepared, and the individual dishes were cooked and then tasted in the kitchen. Despite the large group, there was plenty of time for questions. A wonderful experience. Thank you!

The session was fabulous. Beautiful home and people, great learnings and facilities I would highly recommend However go direct to the cooking school, as I booked in error and immediately emails to cancel, within the minute and cookly would not refund the experience. I’m glad I went but go direct would be my advice.

When we arrived, the basic ingredients for the dishes were already attractively arranged. Then everything we needed to do was explained and demonstrated to us. Chopping, mixing, crushing in a mortar, cooking, frying – it was all included. All of this took place in a beautifully aesthetic and authentic setting. The food was delicious and wonderful, and we enjoyed it together afterwards.

The driver pick up was punctual, the market was interesting, the staff was all attentive and organized and the food was AMAZING!! I loved ALL of it and would do it again. Thank you for such a great class!!

The cooking class is smoothly and seamlessly conducted at Paon. I found it a good mix with short stints of hands on prep and cooking mixed with pre-done prep. We experienced a range of cooking techniques with alternative suggestions given in place of local foods or items which is very useful. The kitchen is in a family owned compound and is kept very clean and the staff are welcoming. We were even given an opportunity to look through their family temple.

Teachers were gorgeous and the class heaps of fun! We all had a turn trying the various processes of food prep and cooking. And got to eat the results of our efforts. Very pleasant chatting with our co-students over lunch. We also had a glimpse into Balinese family life and traditions.

Very very authentic. Taste are truly local and enjoyed the many courses. The instructors are the best too. Doesn't matter what age group, my 17 yr old daughter was thought it was the best

Its a fun class with market viset, traditional home and big and clean kitchen. Good teachers, really loveley. I had a great morning and good food!

What an incredible class! I learned 3 of my favorite dishes as well as 5 others I’m really happy to add to my cooking at home. The market was fun to see as well. We learnt a lot of culinary techniques as well as cultural stories and information. So glad I joined this class and would highly recommend to anyone.

This was a fantastic cooking class! It was brilliantly organised, our cooking guide was very clear in her instructions, we cooked a great range of dishes and got to eat them afterwards. Loved every moment!

Getting to understand what is in and how the food we are newly experiencing was a real treat. Indonesian food is delicious when prepared properly. The recipes were wonderful, can be put to many uses so overall a rich learning experience. Thank you to the whole team in Paon Bali.

Thrilled to try new dellicious recipies

The Paon cooking class was amazing. The family temple was stunning and the whole family home is beautifully kept. The cooking school is next level with two big beautiful class areas and the food we made was absolutely delicious. They were also amazing about accommodating allergies. We even got a recipe book to take home with us.

Puspha and her team passionately share their love of Balinese cooking. It is also a wonderful opportunity to get to see a traditional house.

The cooking class was an incredible experience. My partner and I joined the afternoon class and had a great time. The staff is super friendly and ready to help everyone. They conducted the class with lots of energy, explaining the steps and processes in a super fun way. You can also bring back home a cookbook with the recipes you learned during the class. Highly recommend to anyone interested in food :)

I highly recommend this cooking session, especially If you are vegetarian like me. I was the only but still involved and fed up. Just loved it!

Terrific introduction to Indonesian food. The class was engaging and we made recipes that were easy to replicate at home, with the cookbook which was included. My 15yr old son is keen to make the yellow sauce 😊 I would definitely recommend this class.

We attended the cookery school- they have several work stations, all the raw ingredients were ready to be prepared. Everything was explained as to what we would be cooking ( tofu dish, chicken satay, yellow sauce with vegetables, gado gado, stewed banal with palm sugar and coconut)and how we would make it. Maddy was the main chef and had good English, she was also funny.🤣. We were made to feel so welcome. It culminated in us eating our food we had cooked and then the driver dropped us back at the hotel. Good value, but the staff made it special.

The class was a bit late starting but there was a good range of recipes on offer. We felt a bit rushed but the end results were good and helpful tips given on what we could use in our own country.

The class was one of my favourite experiences in Bali! It was fun, informative and delicious!! I can hardly wait to try the recipes provided when I return home to Canada. The BEST!!

More class than workshop, but I learned to cook a great balinesian dish.

We LOVED this experienced! The entire cooking team was so friendly, well prepared, and spoke great English. The class was well-paced, there was enough hands-on cooking and learning, and everything we made was EXCELLENT! They even gave us a little recipe book at the end. We really enjoyed our time!

Enjoyable and kids like it

Everything was organized beautifully and all staff involved was very friendly. Great prep and explanations for every step. One Star less because every dish was started in teams of two but in the end poured into on big "Group Pan". I get that this makes the whole class easier to handle but I would have enjoyed eating the dish that I personally prepared and cooked. Just my opinion and I guess most people don't mind. All in all a very nice experience.

We had a wonderful time at the Paon Balinese cooking class. The instructors were so fun and helpful and the meal we all helped prepare was fabulous! We would definitely recommend this class to anyone interested in taking a cooking class in Ubud!

약 11명 이 한팀으로 요리를 한다. 우리가 수업한 시간에 3~4팀 정도 근처에서 수업을 받음. 우리팀엔 인싸들이 많아 시끌벅적했고 다른팀들은 조용했음. 팀마다 분위기는 다른듯. 우리팀에 청소년2명이있었는데 조금 지루해하고 힘들어했음(나도) 오전시장투어는 음... 쿠타나 우붓이나 비슷한거같음 더럽지만 참을만함. 수업자체는 흥미로움 , 선생님들도 친절함. 하지만 한국에선 배운요리를 복습할수없다. 드롭을 부탁할때 호텔이 아닌 몽키포레스트를 부탁하니 흔쾌히 수락해주었다.

It was so nice to arrive at this cooking school after being picked up from our accommodation. The food and cooking skills all really well explained. With loads of fun we were taught methods of cooking and after putting several dishes together we sat down and ate our way through a delicious array of beautiful food. Something for everyone including dessert. Vegetarian option available. Met a lot of fun people as a bonus. Would recommend this class highly!!

The host was very nice and then cookingclass was very informative and well taught. The food was so amazing. We never had such good food as there. We highly recommend to do this cookingclass.

Really enjoyed cooking and the food

The class was fantastic, the staff were awesome and my 8 yr old loved it, the view and atmosphere was to die for, really felt a part of the family.

We had a great time! They were very accommodating - free water, tea and coffee throughout. The food was great!

I would highly recommend anyone visiting Bali to do this cooking class and I habe already posted on Facebook to share with family and friends the positive experience my mother and I had. The only negative was that there were not enough printed recipe books to go around so we missed out on one. However I still found it time well spent. Thank you

The class is for everyone! It caters to both inexperienced or experienced cook — you do not have to know how to slice and dice to take this class. Registration is easy, the location is calm and tranquil and certainly clean!

The cooking class was fun and very informative! I like that it caters to people living overseas that couldn’t get some of the ingredients and suggest alternatives. The class was helpful and everyone is very friendly. As an Indonesian living overseas, I recommend this class!

La visite du marché était très intéressante, avec dégustation et informations. Puis on a rejoint la maison de Puspa qui est magnifique, avec un temple privé que l'on peut visiter et coktails de bienvenue. Le groupe de participants n'est pas trop grand donc on peut tous tester chaque étape de la cuisine. On a fait beaucoup de plats, c'était très intéressant et très bon. Légèrement épicé. Les brochettes de satay sont un délice. La propriétaire est incroyablement gentille et très drôle. Elle fait le show pendant tout le cours. Je recommande le cours ici.

I would refer this course any time ! Very professional but a lot of fun at the same time. All ingredients used are available in South Africa except for the one that is similar to tofu ? Delicious. Thank you so much 😀

The whole experience was amazing from the market trip right through to the end result. I loved the whole lot.

It was my first cooking class and I was apprehensive about it at first. But i am sure this will be one of the lasting experiences in Bali. The place is clean, the class is super well organized, and the best part for me was meeting new people. Definitely give it a go especially because the hosts are warm and have a really good sense of humor

Superbe expérience pour découvrir la cuisine balinaise dans une ambiance familiale et professionnelle. Organisation parfaite en tout point : ponctualité du chauffeur, explications au marché, découverte de la culture du riz, cours de cuisine. Tout est très propre, les ingrédients frais et de qualité et le pas à pas efficace. La peanut sauce est la meilleure que nous ayons dégustée. Sans oublier un joyeux anniversaire en balinais agrémenté d'un gâteau spécialement fait pour moi. Essayez c'est top.

They are very nice, friendly and well-organized. Everything was perfect, the food was fresh, the place was clean and we enjoyed their hospitality. There were also four kids attending the class, they have options for you if you are a vegetarian or if you are allergic to some foods. The dishes were better than in the restaurants. :) Maybe because we cooked them. The class was very interactive and we laughed a lot. Highly recommended.

A great intro into Balinese cooking, with lots of laughter!

We were in Indonesia for a friend's wedding and we did not miss the chance to experience this famous cooking class. The class were conducted in English by Balinese chefs who were fully equipped with Balinese culture and cuisine. We also experienced the market tour where we immersed ourselves with the locals and got to talk with them. They were very friendly and they tried to entertain our questions with smiles on their faces. We also learned authentic coconut oil processing and dishes of our own choosing. Indonesia is indeed very rich in culture and diversity.

When booking the afternoon class it wasn't clear that the market trip was only included in the morning session so we didnt get to do that part. Other than that, the food, teacher and helpers were all brilliant. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend to anyone thinking about doing a cooking class in Ubud.

The course is really well designed, the time for explanation and practice is well balanced and the staff always here to guide you through the different steps with smile.

I thought the class was well organised. However, I thought there could have been a little more diversity in what we prepared, rather than so many dishes that used the same base sauce. The dessert we prepared wasn't impressive. It would have been nice to learn to make a better entree and dessert.

I’m excited to go back home and share what I had learnt at this class. The food was natural and healthy. I loved every bite!

I went with my friend on a very short 2-day trip to Bali, and we decided to take a cooking class with Paon Bali Cooking School. My only downside was the market tour. I had high expectations for an open air market, and I was very let down. It was cramped However, the cooking class was excellent! They provided us clear instructions (especially for people who are not gifted in cooking, such as myself), instructors were engaging and friendly, and we even met the owner, who also instructed us. I enjoyed cooking traditional Balinese/Indonesian cuisine, and I would recommend this class to those interested in cooking, and/or the culture of Bali and Indonesia!

We initially thought Balinese way of cooking was too complicated but after attending the class we’re confident we can prepare some Balinese recipes easily. The cooking class was well organized and fun! Would highly recommend to people visiting Bali!

Paon Cooking Classes are nothing short of excellent. A great mix of information, demonstration & hands on tasks, as well as a feeling of accomplishment when you see and taste what you and the group has prepared and cooked. Ingredients are fresh and hygiene standards are A grade. Puspa and Wayan are perfect hosts. Funny and engaging, as well as warm and genuine, the staff make you feel so welcome whilst being utmost professionals. I would go again tomorrow if I weren’t leaving Ubud!

There was 7 girlfriends in our group on a weeks holiday. We enjoyed this cooking experience immensely and I can honestly say, one of the highlights of our week in Bali. Puspa was very engaging and entertaining and her staff were also brilliant. Such a Beautiful family home and our cooking class setting was just so relaxing with the tropical surroundings. Eating our lunch was delicious..such a treat! Thank you Puspa 🌺

And it's not because I cooked them myself! haha Our instructor was super informative and I love the fact that she tells us other alternatives to the ingredients used and gave us each a cookbook with recipes of all the dishes we made today. This makes it so much easier to try to do it at home when we came back! Great clean facility, super photogenic!

This cooking class was one of the best experience in Bali. Everything was planned smoothly, we learnt how to make basic dishes and sauces of the island and afterwards had a dinner. The lady chef and her staff was amazing. I recommend this activity very much.

I would give this class 10 stars if I could. :) A girlfriend and I signed up for this cooking class during our one-week vacation in Bali after 3 weeks of doing a cultural exchange/teaching program in Java. After spending an entire month in Indonesia, I can say that tonight's cooking class is at the top of the list for the best experiences we have had in this beautiful country. The setting is serene, the hosts are friendly and entertaining, everything on the menu is delicious... I could go on and on. Puspa and Wayan were incredibly accommodating to my tree nut allergy and vegetarian lifestyle. Everything we made was nut-free and vegan. There wasn't a single dish that we had to skip due to dietary restrictions, which is very rare, even when eating in my home country! With a severe tree nut allergy, I have honestly been very nervous to eat at most places in Indonesia, but I felt comfortable eating here since they were so careful to ensure that was no cross-contamination, and the entire group simply excluded tree nuts from all menu items. As an added perk, you get a copy of all recipes to take home with you so that you can recreate the meal at home! Thank you, thank you, thank you for an unforgettable evening and experience in Ubud!!!

The cooking class was awesome! We made a lot of different balinese dishes which were all delicious. We learned a lot about the different ingredients and how to prepare everything. The cooking team was very friendly and funny. We would definitely recommend attending a class in Paon Bali. Thanks a lot for the experience!

This was an amazing experience! The price was right, a pickup and drop off to/from our hotel, a trip to the local market with a guide to describe local foods, customs, traditions, a trip to the rice field (loved the explanation of how to harvest the most popular crop in asia), and of course, the cooking and amazing meal! I also loved meeting people from all over the world during our class. Quality people, cooking, instruction, and home. Thank you!!
