Brilliant course in a beautiful setting, with an expert tutor. Mariana was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and so willing to share her encyclopaedic knowledge of ancient cookery techniques. A one-of-a-kind, magical experience ending with a delicious lunch!!!!
Mariana is an extremely knowledgeable food historian. Her classes are fascinating and I would recommend travelling to Crete purely to meet her if you're interested in the history of Greek cuisine. We got to sit under her olive trees and enjoyed our prepared food.
We had a nice time. It was most likely a private class because it was only two of us. We had a great time talking and eating in a beautifull garden with olive trees. It was a journey into history of greek vegeterian cooking. I especially liked the historic cooking methods. Take this course when you are interested in greek cooking and its history and eating under olive trees with good company.
I’m fascinated with Greek culinary. I took class and really enjoyed the entire process, from mixing historically-appropriate ingredients and cooking over an open fire to using replicas of historic equipment and tools. Mariana is extremely generous with her knowledge and responded to every question in such a warm and nuturing way
Another unique way to know more about Greek food culture! I got to explore the evolution of ancient Greek cuisine through tales, history, trade, demonstration and hands-on cooking lesson. Mariana is our cooking host and she is very knowledgable. Highly recommend!

GCH&CA projects not only encourage people to rethink historical dining through period cooking lessons, food walking tours, multi-sensory history-themed dinners and interactive lectures but also use food as symbol, metaphor and allegory creating moments of wonder and deep emotions.
The cooking lessons take place outdoors in a 300year old Venetian olive grove, 5km from the city of Chania.
